The Extra-Unofficial 5.0 Blueprint Contest!

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hail, friends of Malinor,

I was talking with shiftnative in a chat, and he suggested this: "...(LoTC) should hold a contest for best map blueprint, and have people vote." I am interested in what the community can create, map-wise, and genuinely curious as to what an ideal 5.0 would look like to the players. That being said, I'm not staff, so all I can offer you is the dubious honor of winning this contest (which will be bestowed upon you by way of a commemorative plaque I made in MS Paint). To sweeten the prospect, I'm offering the winner any <$15 Steam game that he/she can dream of.

Anyhow, here are the rules:

  1. Entries must be posted as a reply to this thread, such that everyone can see them.
  2. You must submit a visual overview of the map blueprint, one that is visually interesting and/or clearly displays the terrain.
  3. Explain your map. What makes it special and exciting? How does it function better than previous maps, and other entries?
  4. Entries are due before Sunday, the 28th of May, whereupon the voting for best submission will commence!

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with the "Lord(s) of the Staff", or any of the shady fellows working on an alleged """5.0""". This map competition exists solely to suggest ideas for a new and far better map.

Happy world building!

How about Shiftnative just not making the new map? That's one of my main preferences.

I'd actually like to have, say, three possible maps and have a community vote on it. Sure surprise is good and all, but we are surprised for an hour and we're stuck with the map for a year, so I feel it outweighs in that regard.

Some people just like rumors, Allen's not working on the map. If he were there'd be a lot more hype to it. :)

It would be nice if the community had some kind of say on the general map shape and layout.  Though this contest will probably result in rushed, half assed maps.  Hopefully someone makes a really good, realistic map.

To be fair, when it was a work in progress everyone was telling him they loved it. So you can't blame him too much for giving the masses what they wanted.

next map's size is irrelevant if GMs just let their friends and nation leaders to put towns everywhere.

@Vandoria

@Ghost townseverywhere in Vailor, Athera, Anthos, Aegis, Asulon, Fringe, Verge, Elysium, Kalos, Thales

The charter system needs to be focused on 1 city per race or something, High elves have 2 full capitals and they aren't nearly as active to have even 1. Humans are just ridiculous.

Every race that normally wishes to have their own place should. They shouldn't have to find 40k minas and be far behind building and stuff then every other nation/race. The races I believe should get premade areas or regions assigned for them are: Orcs, High elves, Wood elves, Dark elves, Humans, Dwarves, Halflings and Kharajyr. If there are others races that normally have their own place sure give them a small place, though this don't count for each individual subrace of human or whatever, I mean like the Cervitaur and Dreadknights. Give them a region fit for their population. If they have a small population give them a small area and build up from it with activity and size. Don't kick races down and force them to pay 40k to not fall behind the other races.
