The Department Initiative & More!

Interesting how the only people who currently replied to this are either staff or used to be important (sorry Matt), but yeah, I wonder how this will turn out.

Any reason my criticism got removed besides "I don't like what he said?"

Renaming everything to one singular 'department' in the hopes to make people behave better and get on with people they dislike in other teams won't work. You can pressure people into pretending to be 'nicer' all you want, but nothing positive will ever come from lies and falseness.

The new Lead idea has my attention - agreeing with it halfway whilst also dreading what's to come of it. I guess I'll save my complaints for when it IS abused, and there's no doubt in my mind that it WILL happen at some point - I just pray I'm on a team to see it and try stop it when I can.

But when will we see change that actually benefits the server and not just this PR nonsense? There are other pressing issues that should be addressed and have left untouched or outright ignored for whatever reason. Player retention is a good example of this.

This is a deadly vice.

This is all fine and dandy but does it really matter? As others stated above there are a plethora of more pressing issues. Inter-staff communication is important but at the end of the day even with an ideal system it's completely up to the specific staff member in question to go along with the idea. Throwing up an unnecessarily in depth forum post that does little to nothing to improve the ongoings of the server helps little to nothing.

As explained with another comment, this isn't something we're blind too. In no aspect whatsoever are we expecting this change alone to encourage anything more than setting the groundwork for change to come. However the issue with inter-team communication isn't one I can simply dish out a quick update and solve for good but one that must be tackled over a period of significant time, its not just about what we can do but also changing the perspective of the community as a whole. This is groundwork for larger things, nothing more nothing less.

Change for the sake of change is useless, other than the names being changed, what else has changed? I mean, you say communication and such, but was a rework of the teams worth something that could of been done through simple meetings and, well, work?

Can we just cut the "business" bullshit and go back to LoTC being a game?
