Fireheart 2777 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Good evening Lord of the Craft! A while back, we had the unfortunate event occur where a warclaim had to be postponed due to unforeseen issues, which were related to the server and lag in general. This issue came from the sheer amount of players in one area, and that led to a mass overshoot of packets which the server sadly couldn’t handle. The issue has been untouched for quite some time, however I am here to address two points with this post: 1. What warclaims will look like in the near future. 2. What we are doing to prevent lag. 3. What raids will look like in the near future. Weekend warclaims will be the newest attempt in finding a solution to incredible amounts of lag during warclaims. The issue has been identified with the amount of players in one area; to address that, we’ve created a system that will spread out the players in separate battles, without making an unrealistic demand of manpower, being moderators, along with it. Players will follow the original format made for warclaims, however, only this time we will be separating both sides out across three battles, so everyone can participate in a hopefully fluid experience, rather than a choppy and uninteresting one. A brief overview of the rules for weekend warclaims are as follows: All players expected to participate, are required to complete the roster form, by Thursday 11:59PM EST, the week of the warclaim. No exceptions. No player can submit their name for more than one day. Factions will be responsible for distributing their own forces across the three days adequately. Rally times shall commence an hour prior to the start of the warclaim. This will be to ensure that players are distributed to their correct spawn rooms, attendance is correct, and other issues may be addressed without eating into the actual fight time. In the case of a force’s numbers being below the anticipated count, for that day, another player may fill in for the absent fighter, regardless of their participation prior or to come. The system will determine the victor with a best two out of three result. In the case of two consecutive victories, the third battle still may be held so everyone is able to engage in the conflict, regardless of the determined result. Sieges will function under the same concept; however, the siege process will take place only in the first battle. The two following the first will play out as regular field battles on the same map of the first. What will happen the day of a warclaim? Players will be expected to rally at their nation’s capital, and those participating in the conflict shall then take a portal sign to their spawn room. All players who signed on for the roster will see their MC name on a podium. It will be arranged in alphabetical order for ease of organization. Players who do not have a pre-made podium will be kicked if the numbers exceed the original anticipated attendance on the roster. Once everything is in order, a new portal sign will take you to the battleworld. At which point it will be business as usual, simply at a smaller scale. This is our attempt at keeping numbers, which is the primary source of lag on the server during a warclaim, down, while also fairly ensuring everyone is able to participate. We’ll see how it actually works out and will be testing this concept for the next war. As a reminder, cooperation is key in executing something like this so please, if you require alterations to the system to fit your needs, then speak to the moderator organizing your warclaim, which nine times out of ten will be me. The link to this form will be added to the original warclaim format as will the information provided above. Note: Warclaims are highly suggested to take place on all three weekend days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). However, in certain cases and upon the agreement of both party leaders, warclaim times can be altered. Now onto raids. A while back, there was some feedback given on defender default, and how raiding sort of clashes in terms of numbers and the logistics of how the two rules function with one another. Moving forward, I had James make a community poll on the matter and it sided to eight. With the direction of 5.0 development, I am going to be raising the raid cap to six (6), effective immediately, as a means of both preparation for possibly raising it higher for 5.0 or seeing that six is sufficient. Issues in the past that led to a low raid cap is due to the sheer amount of settlements for 4.5, 5.0 will be a different story which will prompt more centralized RP and hence the requirement for a higher raid cap to have chance of inflicting any form of damage. Anywhom, that is all I have to say on the matter of war rules. The suspension of warclaims is hereby lifted, as we stand eager to trial this new system. If you have any questions or calls for clarification in the rules, please post a comment below and I will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Happy battling!

Fireheart 2777 Author Share Posted July 14, 2016 Also, one thing to note is no longer do you get to blame it on one laggy battle, but THREE! More fighting, more fun :D
InfamousGerman 1553 Share Posted July 14, 2016 yeah buts it still lagging w/ like 20 people : ( edit: does this mean i have to prepare 3 sets of gear for 1 warclaim
Sky 0 Share Posted July 14, 2016 With raids being raised to 6, doesn't this imply that that almost always it'll be defaulted to mechanics combat due to how the rules are currently?
Elfen_ 232 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Also with the increase of allowed raiders, will the raid cooldown on settlements be slightly increased? For now it can make it more annoying when getting raided. Also;
Neri 3590 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Still want to know why exactly we have to make more and more compromises in order to have warclaims. I'd rather compromise on professions or [insert bloatware plugin] if it meant we could have the glorious warclaims of old. This is just depressing to see. Stop playing footsies and tell us why we can't do warclaims like we have for the last four years, please, whilst I still have a shred of confidence in you guys left.

mmat 7460 Share Posted July 14, 2016 This is overcomplex garbage, though at least there's some effort. red tape and restriction might be fine for you as staff but we don't want it.
Salvo 1852 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Why do we have to make everything complicated? I appreciate the effort but LotC is truly becoming too formal for its own good.

Krism 67 Share Posted July 14, 2016 This system seems to be getting pretty complicated, but i guess if nothing else will fix the problems, it will have to do. And hey maybe it won't be that bad in practice.

Perhaps if you put forward some ideas within a feedback post, it would help us to regard your feelings and tweak the system according to the community's thoughts. Afterall, the staff are just as much a part of the community as everyone else. https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/forum/263-feedback/
