You can leave the US freely, what're you on about? You think border control are gonna stop US citizens leaving? That's not gonna happen. Or are you saying that illegals that'd normally go back to Mexico wouldn't be able to? If anything border patrol would help them out there, what with the deportation plans and everything.

America already has fences in places, which do little to prevent illegal crossing. And even having a simple like 12 foot tall fence thing would be incredibly far too costly, let alone a wall that would actually have to be effective (you'd have to do some ******* berlin wall thing for 2000km). The economics don't make sense

Yeah, but it's better for them to pay the lump sum for the wall rather than destroy all their exporters. You can recover from the former much more easily.
