Hello everyone!

Alright so, just two quick questions for you. As it currently stands, ladders may be used either on Freebuild raids or rescue raids. That means that in Nation Tiles, you simply cannot use ladders to raid. I would like for you to vote on the poll but also share with us of why you voted yes/no. I will count votes only if they are followed by a comment.

  1. The first question is simple. Should we allow ladders in Nation Tiles/Regions(Basicly in all raids) aswell or not
  2. The second question, I find it more interesting. Should we allow only sensible ladder placing? Example below.

Sensibile ladder placement means there’ll be some BS part of the fort you can’t get to because you’re not allowed to put the ladder to the side. Vote NO on SENSIBLE LADDER PLACEMENT

I voted yes to the first one but no to the second one. My reasoning for the second one is what if the only way to place ladders is not a sensible one? Would we be allowed to place ladders like we do currently? That’s my only question.

Yes to ladder use in raids upon nations. If they’re allowed against freebuild, allow them here. A stupid OOC protection that some ‘nations’ have. And a fat NO to sensible ladder placement. Allow ladders to be placed in any manner. Atlas is littered with logic defying fortifications and PVP towers that demand a counter. Defenders should have to be more vigilant rather sitting within the safety of their walls/PVP towers. It will create a dynamic in which defenders will have to ‘plug the gap’ and mount reaction-based defenses. Of course, maintaining that roleplay be provided before ladders are placed. This should make raids a lot more enjoyable for either side.

Stop people from putting buttons everything

So are we going to have the rp of armored men carrying ladders long enough to get over walls?

I don't see the point. If folks shift the rules to allow ladder placements, there will just be buttons every which way making the change pointless. Unless folks are rolling some awful looking ladder carts in and out of a region. That's a whole discussion within itself though.

If this goes through I know myself and I can only assume nearly every other nation is gonna be buttoning their whole walls, and making giant lips on the top of em as well. I think in the end ladders will become a mute point except in the case of places where there's some tiny little strange way in with some crazy ladder placement up the side of a mountain or something. This just sounds like a headache imo in the making for a city builder >.<

I voted no to the first and yes to the second. Nations shouldn't have to make their builds look stupid with buttons so that the raiders can't get in. Also, since we're a few months into the map, making changes that weren't anticipated when the nation capitals were being designed I think is kinda scummy. I mean, sure, I can go put blocks in certain places to make lips so that people can /never/ get into some place, but it's going to look dumb, take a lot of work, and in the end it's going to have the same effect as what we have now. By that I mean within 2 months most places will be ladder proof along with regular raid proof and it'll be the same deal as we have now, except now you can't get in for rescue raids.

If you really, really want to make it so raiders don't have to worry so much about city defenses, then you'd give them a SINGLE ladder supported by barrier blocks that they can use to get up a wall, and it would require a certain amount of people to carry it. The people within the city would be able to push the ladder over, and if they did, that's it, no more ladders. The change proposed, on the other hand, is just going to support uglier builds and lower in usefulness as time goes on and settlements adapt.

Easy fix. Remove buttons.

I use buttons in decorations of my builds, so no don't go removing a block just because people don't like that they can't put a ladder up. Next thing they'll be saying remove stairs and slabs too.

Also ladders should have to be sensible if we hope to keep any form of immersion and realism.

But with all of this I have to ask, why? If a city has worked to make their walls difficult to climb over then find a different way in. Defenders shouldn't be told that their work (trying to prevent raiders from breaking in) is gonna just get removed.

Remove buttons and they'll just be replaced by something else, and they'll certainly be an even more ugly alternative. People strive for impenetrable cities.

In all honesty, I would rather have ugly builds than poor gameplay (A E G I S). With that said if people start building unrealistic constructs to prevent raiders from entering with ladders, then our World Dev team should step in to remove those unrealistic builds.

Idea, add some curviture to your walls if you're afraid of being laddered.
