Raid Rules Update

Hello people, quick update to the raid rules. After some discussion, we've decided to try out raising the raid minimum from 2 players to 3 players. We will watch to see how this fairs over the next few months to see if it caused more trouble than it was worth or if it worked out nicely.

 

Secondly, birds/war horns/whatever you're using to notify people of a raid or to rally now requires a minimum of 3 emotes to do, along with sufficient roleplay. Doing *blows horn. and suddenly having 10 people log in to gank folks will no longer be allowed.

 

Thirdly, I want to just talk about poor villain rp for a moment. As with magic rp, I've seen a lot of complaints over people 1 emote killing folks for pixels or things of that nature, but a lack of people telling staff directly about it. As such, I want to encourage you folks to report such RP when you see it. Simply doing "/modreq Hey Bob123 is doing subpar banditry rn." will give the GMs a timeframe to work with along with people to log check. You don't need to grab screenshots if you are unable (though that'd be helpful if you could). With the raid rules being updated to allow for an additional person, we will be on the lookout for this kind of rp during raids or banditry/villainy.

 

And finally, this is the first update in regards to raids, we'll be looking to tweak things further as we see how these changes do and try to make things more balanced between those who like to raid/pvp/bandit/etc. and those who prefer to stick to their cities and RP.

I would just like to ask about one thing - I like the idea about 3 emotes for blow horns, but. What about when suddenly 7-10 guys pour into the town and call instant PVP default, and give no time to emote or do anything beforehand? I suppose it is fault of defenders, but still feels odd.

If people are doing that, make a modreq. You can't run into a town mcly with a group of people and do a single emote to initiate PvP, there has to be RP leading up to it. During that RP would be the time to use a horn or whatever you want to use.

If people had as much of a problem with poor villainy and one emote killing as they say they do then they would take the time to report it. Good work Flam.

You should be able to *blows horn* in one emote.

 

What settlement do you realistically think is gonna have all their pvpers online at one time. I get it, raids were in essence turned against the raiders but its give and take, and continuously shunning 'Metagame'/the settlements ONLY way of defense is asenine. Nobody raids at peak times and that's a fact.

 

and you speak as if GM's answer modreq's quick enough to intervene in CRP, lol.

I mean we pointed out the fact that it made no sense to the GM's present the other 20+ times it happened and yet we were told it was completely acceptable. I think if anything then there is a difference in your understanding of what is right and the GM's understanding of what is right. It might be best to make a rule for it seeing as right now the Haense raids usually but not always amount to *Swings Sword at [Insert name]* (LOOC: PvP! Tell me when you're ready for countdown xD).

I'm glad I left before it became standard to enforce such absurd rules as "Do x amounts of emotes to do this."

no one raids at peak time because the cap is at 3 people LOL

The staff did lower standards. Like most problems on the server you've created poor RP yourself. ?

This doesnt particuarlily refer to my expierence but along the lines of the poor to subpar villiany rp getting reported would you also be able to cut down the powergames using the same logic? We all know that powergaming is not allowed on the server but we all have seen someone do it from time to time. for example dodgeing every attack, i dont care how fast you think you are there is no way you can continuously dodge every attack, its not physically possible.
