The bells of the Cathedral of the Holy Martyrs in Carolstadt began ringing in an odd time of day. The peasants and commoners alike looked over at the doors of the cathedral, wondering what was happening, mayhaps it was a Saint’s Feast day. Judite Brothers with their white robes and black scapulars began exiting the cathedral in two rows, each monastic holding a candle and chanting.

 

“Dominus Vincit! Dominus Regnat! Dominus Imperat!

Dominus Vincit! Dominus Regnat! Dominus Imperat!
Exaudi Dominus:

Ecclesia Sanctae Dei Salus Perpetua…”

 

The monks began going down the twin steps on each side of the cathedral, descending from the elevated area unto the small square. From the back the Gold Laurels of the High Pontiff glisten in the sun, he is elevated in his Sedia Gestatoria, carried by Church Militant.

 

“Excelsum Horenus, tu illam adiuva,
Excelsum Ovenius, tu illam adiuva,

Excelsum Theotonius, tu illam adiuva,

Excelsum Sigismundus, tu illam adiuva…”

 

Behind the Pontiff in his Pontifical Throne an altar boy, donning white vestments carries a large cross of lorraine and one behind him in more ruskan vestments carries a cross of hussaria, both made of gold and heavily jeweled.

 

“Dominus Vincit! Dominus Regnat! Dominus Imperat!
Dominus Vincit! Dominus Regnat! Dominus Imperat!

Exaudi Dominus:

Sigismundus, Summo Pontifici et universali Pape, vita!

Dei mundi, tu illam adiuva,

Sancte Iorenus, tu illam adviuva

Sancta Iulia, tu illam adiuva…”

 

The men carrying the Pontiff in the Sedia Gestatoria slowly go and place him down in the raised portion above the town square. The Pontiff rises, his red with a white fox trim bends and his golden and bejewelled cross of hussaria sway slightly.

 

“Dominus Vincit! Dominus Regnat! Dominus Imperat!

Ipsi Soli imperium,

Laus et iubilatio,

Per saecula saeculorum,

Amen!”

 

The spectators mouth a unsure ‘Amen’ as they look on at the ceremony, somewhat confused. High Pontiff Siegmund I takes a few steps forward, a deacon comes up to him, bearing the Pontiff’s ferula. He hands it to him, kissing his hand in the process.

 

“Sit nomen Domine benedictus.

Auditorium nostrum in nomine Domini.

Benedicat vos omnipotens Deus.

Pater, et Horenus et Exaltus Honorem.”

 

The bearded presbyter of presbyters traces a cross of lorraine over the assembled crowd, now a few men of higher standing are present as well. The people cross themselves, muttering an ‘Amen’ once more.

 

“My children. I come to announce to vy a crusade! A great plot has been uncovered against the majesty of the Holy Mother Church and Her Faithful. The recent Reiter incursions unto Papal Land has been discovered to be at the Dominion’s behest. The sons of Malin take it upon themselves to destroy the Pontificate and by that destroy the Church. My children, to destroy the Church is to destroy GODAN’s conduit to us, here, on this plane. But fear not, for GODAN is with us, and if He is with us who’s against us? Iblees has tainted the Alfski race, made them bend to his will of sin and depravity, it is thus that the Alf folk must be culled and brought to heel. We therefore,  with full authority from Svyatoy Clement and Evaristus I declare a crusade on the Dominion. Any man who takes up arms in defence of the Holy Mother Church shall find himself free from the perditious madness of the Void and assured a place in the Third Skie. Amen!”
