GM Update Log - October 2018

Hi everyone, I’ve recently taken over the GM Director slot and will be handling all matters relating to the GM Team from now on. Fireheart has been promoted to the Moderation Admin in which he’ll cover the duties overseeing the Game Moderation, Forum Moderation, and Application Team matters. If an issue arises please come one of the managers or myself if the problem is still not resolved.

    We’re looking forward to a smooth transition while I become accustomed to the new position, the new managers become soothed into their new roles, and new GMs are brought in. As all things, there will be some mistakes here and there as everyone is a human and volunteering to help promote a better environment for the community, however we have done our best to ensure this is minimized.

    Raid rules were looked at but due to heavy community feedback and input we have decided not to change them.

Heists are fully implemented and price adjustment will be looked at after the month of November or near the end of the month. You can modreq to schedule one in advance and will be prompted for information by a GM who will then put the plans in motion.

War rules are still being polled and will be used to decide the best course of action. With Wrothful departing us we will be looking internally for someone to lead the discussion and help develop a new rule set.

Our newest managers, Frott and Lumiin have been brought on to assist myself in administration within the GM Team. If an issue arises that cannot be handled by a Game Moderator, a manager will help resolve this. Additionally, Frott will be handling warclaims from now on and a group of GMs will be under him to assist him, however this is still in motion and the details are being worked on.

With war rules being the main focus, we will be looking at coups at the end of this year after we conclude the war rules rework.

The GM team received a total of 3068 modreqs in October.

Congratulations and thank you to: Narthok, Punisher8817, and Xalidfor taking the most tickets in that respective order!

 

The monthly quota for the GM-Team is 3%, for this month that meant an individual GM had to complete a total of 92 tickets. Below you can view the general statistics for all members of the team. Keep in mind some new GMs were added to the team late in the month and some GMs were on leave for real life reasons.

 

 

In addition to completed tickets, there was also a sizable GM Contribution in regard to:

Warclaims, raids, bans, ban-appeals and extensive modreqs. You can view these statistics below: (Note, submissions are voluntary and only count up to 100 points for moderators so this data is not fully accurate and in the case of this month most GM’s opted not to use it)

Like Corpean said, most (and by that I mean the vast majority) of GMs decided not to use the bonus point form.

I’m not too sure where your anger and frustration lies with the statistics, but you yourself quoted the completely reasonable and proactive response to that question. I’ll give you a quick break down and explain to you each of the 16 names that did not meet quota. 

Corpean was on hiatus for a section of the month due to real life obligations. RideTheSakura is the same person as countessem and if you add up those two quota counts for those account names you get a total of 95 which is above quota. Lumiin was on hiatus due to some school related reasons. Thanhium failed quota. (Perfectly reasonable to question since they were not on hiatus and a returning GM that should reach quota) _Lark_ stepped down. RideTheSky was added on mid month. jollyb was on hiatus for part of the month due to school related reasons. Frott was gone on hiatus due to moving across the country. GandalfDahWhite stepped down. Fireheart_ (myself) left the GM team mid month. Wrynn is on hiatus due to personal matters in life. Llir is on hiatus due to school. Caranthir_ was added mid month. Tofuus is not a GM; he is a tech team member. countessem as I said is RideTheSakura. Karimir is on hiatus due to real life reasons relating to health and school.

 

To summarize that is 14 people failing quota (2 of those names in the 16 in red is one person that, added together, did make quota):

7 people were or still are on hiatus. All hiatus breaks not lasting over a month in length.

3 stepped down.

2 were added on mid month.

1 is a tech team member not required to meet quota.

1 should have made quota, but failed it by 14 reqs.

 

We are all volunteers and give up our time for the benefit of the community. There will always be a need for GMs which is why we ask every month for people to apply and there will always be req wait times. This is something we try to fix with a larger team, but with a larger team comes a larger up-keep with more people needing to cycle out for breaks or due to real life reasons for a short period of time. If you go back past months you will find these same GMs that did go on hiatus hitting their marks in quota and pulling their weight. Them taking some time off to handle real life things is not going to kill the team and we do not hold onto GM’s that fail quota without reason back to back to back per month.

Because most GMs are ******* lazy but will never be punished for it. Getting removed from the team is hilariously difficult if you aren’t world editing out cities or sexually abusing minors.
