The morning broke with a crisp and icy wind howling throughout the capital city of Carolustadt, men and women of the city operated their stalls, Legionnaires patrolling the city. It was truly a bustling day in the city, like any other. An elderly man ventured throughout the city and exited via its gatehouse, for the public food chest for the citizens became empty. He headed to the small farm within his diocese of Adria to collect wheat, carrots and potatoes.

Shortly after filling a small basket he then ventured back towards the city, oblivious to the many travelers on the road, some armed and some not. However as he neared the city gates, there appeared to be a commotions, insults hurled between two parties, he chose to ignore this and cross the bridge. Unfortunately the gates were barred shut and a man behind shouted ‘Halt’, startled he turned to the loud dwarf-sized man and Raguk, each with their weapons out and pointed at him.

Suddenly realisation hit him like a brick, turning pale within an instant. The elder quickly turned back to the gates without another word and tried to run back into the city and away from the raiders, however the bandits were quicker. A blade struck the elders back, fortunately the chainmail hidden beneath his red robes prevented puncture however it cause him to stumble onto his front.

This did not seem to quench the raiders appetite for blood, for as the elderly man tried to crawl across the bridge and back into the city, heavy stomping followed behind. Hastily he rolled onto his back to defend his head and then suddenly a blade pierced through his upper torso, puncturing a lung in the process. He had no time to defend himself as several Legionnaires watched from a now open gate, either frozen in shock or frozen in fear.

A pool of crimson spilled out of his large wound, coughing up blood he turned onto his chest and tried to drag his own body across the bridge towards the legionnaires watching under the gate’s arch. Sadly, the raiders desire for blood was not yet sated. A blade would drive through the man's neck, killing him instantly before the cities guard decided to intervene.

So an old man’s tale has drawn to a close and with that, and the new are ushered in.

Glottgut'Raguk smiled from atop his shipwreck, drifting endlessly. The waves tossed him to and fro but it was stable enough for a letter in a bottle to inexplicably make its way to him. "Hozh zkah, dat Raguk!" He smiled happily. "Nub muzh ub agh martyr ib 'e nub ztand bur anyfin' when dey died."
