The Kortrevich Response

Duncan sits down after reading the letter he received, picking up his quill as he begins to write.

To The Traitor whom calls himself Kortrevich,

I know not who you are, only who you claim to be. You say, you are Rodrik Kortrevich, but that is impossible, He died the day he walked out the Reza gates and betrayed his family and his dearest friends for the Renatian mongrels. “The Loyal” they called him, but he was only loyal to himself. He put us all through pain and sadness, me most of all. The boy I raised, Is Dead. So I ask you, who are You to claim to be him. Your a monster with no family, known for his spilling of blood, no Rodrik I ever knew did that. The Rodrik I knew, would die  for his family, and for his greatest friend, King Marius. You are not who you claim to be, you hold no right to the Kortrevich name or to the Barony of Koravia.

This part of my letter addresses your plea. Your plea for us to join the Renatians who we so Fervently Hate, and continue to resist. If you were my brother Rodrik, you would know that I hold no love in my heart for Renatus, only deep seeded hatred. After the Burning of Ves, I told Rodrik that I wouldn’t serve an Empire that would slaughter innocent women and children for their own amusement, which they did with smiles on their faces. I stand with Haense, and The Crowned Emperor Joseph, first of his name. The Kortrevich family owes a debt to Haense, which can only be repaid with our own life. We stand rooted in our Faith in GOD, and our King. And If the day comes, for which I must die serving Haense, and fighting the Despicable Renatian pretenders, then so be it. At least I’ll die loyal to my cause, unlike my youngest brother.

Lastly, I address your admitted kidnapping of my sweet nephews and niece. We will get them back. The pain you’ve put Sarah and all of us through, will not go unpunished. Save your olive branch and offer of peace for someone who gives a damn. you’ll pay traitor, with your own life, you’ll pay.

Signed

Duncan Kortrevich Of House Kortrevich.

The aged Marius Baruch reads over the letter as he sits close to his fireplace. He nods in approval at his friend, Duncan’s, loyalty to the Kingdom of Haense.Though he feels empathy towards him and his Kortrevitch kin, as Marius knew what it was like to lose a family member to the Renation pretenders

”Ave Imperium,”

Says a leal Horen bannerman in response to the notice, while referencing the Empire of Renatus and not the Orenian Confederation. He then enjoys a sip of tea, thinking about all his ancestors who died to keep Aurelius Horen on the Throne, and then imagining slights against the Haenseti people for colluding with neo-Imperials to destroy his way of life.

With a trembling breath, Gareth emits:Grrr, Oren, Grrr.”

Otto Kortrevich would sit on his bedside, his clothes, face and hair all alike in their messiness. At first, he stares blankly at the single wardrobe that provides his company in his room, but then his expression relaxes as he looks outside. A small grin forms beneath his beard as he goes over the too true words of his cousin, Duncan. However, that smile fades quickly as he remembers the deeds that he and Rodrik had done together in the name of Haense, and Kortrevich. Clumsily, he lifts himself out of bed, murmuring under his slightly labored breath, “you’ll pay traitor...”.

"Dead"

She'd repeat the words she had just read, sitting in the safety of her room, -their- room. The woman could not get used to the lack of someone next to her, arms holding her tightly as they drifted to rest

Sarah knew the words written were true, a traitor he was, but how she hated people speak illy of the male. Yet she remains silent at most times

"Duncan has his way with words" She'd nod to no one, closing her eyes

Yout can't deny the truth

Not when it spits in your face

"The man I love.... dead. Drowned by his owns sins..." Yet, the truth is still hard to swallow

Maybe another day she will let go

Onece they won't be calling her a traitor because of not her own actions
