A few Orenian troopers of the 1st regiment - including Cpt. d’Arkent on horseback and Lt. Octavian fully armored on the right.

At the edge of the Emperor’s personal demesne, where the fertile Heartlands give way to sparse and abandoned fields about Rubern, a small team of surveyors and engineers spotted some seven-hundred coalitioners crossing Oren’s borders. Falling back along the highway, the team was speedily reinforced by garrisons from throughout the Crownlands. Once the incursionary force caught up to the Imperial troopers, the Empire’s defense had swelled to nine-hundred.

Building a tight formation against the invaders, Orenian lines responded to ineffectual Qali arrows with a single volley, quickly routing their opponent back along the highway. The Imperial troopers pursued in orderly fashion, preventing the primitive enemy from gaining an advantage by skirmish. The chase persisted until reaching the low walls of Rubern, from which the coalition flung hurried arrows at the behest of their Renalian commander.

The Imperial troopers slowly withdrew from the highway, lying in wait for their foe to recover morale. They did not have to wait long, skirmish picking back up in the weeds and tall grasses around the town. Spotting an opening between the invaders’ scattered positions and their escape route to the gate, Lieutenant Octavian directed the troopers in a coordinated charge, opening a bloody melee in which hardly a single coalitioner was able to escape.

At the end of the day, the troopers were able to return home with their spoils and hurrahs, seeing the Empire defended against chimaeric hordes once again. The coalition’s dwindling supply of fighters does not know why they fight and die, but every Orenian knows their own purpose here: for God, Emperor, and Country!

AS he hears of the news from the yells of churlish newspaper-boys outside of an imperial sauna, the Harrenite whig and financier Sir Veikko H— breaks into rapturous applause and cheers for the empire, much to the disdain of the other patrons of the steamroom.

Looked to her fellow soldiers, twirling a bloodied arrow around in her hand, standing on the arm of an enemy corpse. “ ‘Least we were t’e ones who won. T’was a good battle, t’e arrow shots made ‘et exciting.” Jack spoke plainly as she followed her comrades away.

*Marcus would extract is zweihander from one of the fallen Ruberni wretches* “Hmpf, plus one for us on the tally, Ave Haense! Ave Oren!” *He’d return from the battlefield, interested how his arms & armor held up on the field* ”Heh, moment of truth, lets see if my blades held up well...”

*Colonel Alren DeNurem learns of the triumph at the hands of his comrades sitting behind a mound of paperwork in his humble office inside the Bastille. He would walk out to the balcony overlooking the great hall to see the victors enjoying a well earned meal far below. A few of them would catch his gaze, and to each he would issue a curt nod of approval before returning to his work. Speaking to no-one in particular he would say . . .

"With each day our numbers swell, and with each victory we hone our skills yet still. Ave Oren.”

*A plump olive green toad would croak from inside a terrarium atop his desk, a look of keen satisfaction over it’s warty face after devouring several flies- a true apex predator . . .

Hadvar av Mitteland shakes his head at the news. His sickness was still festering, rendering him useless and unable to attend. "The men of Rubern will be back...We beat them in more uneven circumstances, we don't see this as a loss, we see it as an opportunity to grow. The Empire will brag over a victory which involved less than 10 of their soldiers, and only 7 of ours...! This is simply pathetic. Haense will fall, and then we shall take our revenge on these Orenians. Ave the AIS." He would state to his men from his chamber room.

Hours past and Hadvar became more and more upset over the loss. It was like an irritating itch on the back of his neck. Calling some of his soldiers into the chamber room, he proceeded to rant. "We have to be better. We have slaughtered them in a 16vs26, we have slaughtered them in a 24vs37...these numbers should be even easier. This won't happen again, am I clear?" The AIS General would then wave a dismissive hand. "Just wait for the return of myself, and Doctor Daniel." Was his closing remarks as he ordered his squire to slam the doors shut and escort the men back out into the Ruberni courtyard.

Recruit Private Augustus Property joins his brothers-in-arms in the Bastille after the fight. Unable to speak due to a tragic birth defect, he holds his shield up, requesting a new one after having bashed one of the farfolk’s skulls in with it after they miraculously got up and began attacking Sir Octavian. Property would, once given a new shield, scurry off to the barracks to wait for the next fight despite not having a room in the Bastille, or anywhere for that matter. “What an odd fellow.” He thought he heard his comrades say, but who could know for sure? All Private Property knew was that AIS was trespassing, and Oren was a stand your ground country.

“To think that one small skirmish is of such importance to them.” Lyam Payne laughs at the piece of propaganda. “If you think one skirmish makes you the victor, I got news for you.” He muses, while enjoying a glass of homemade whiskey.

Senator Vivaca Rutledge sips a cup of a tea in her Curon home, still feeling quite sad over her father’s death. After hearing the news of the battle, she smiles.

“Ave Orenia. Peter III is awesome!”

When will this war end? She thought to herself, laying back in her chair, Vivaca Rutledge suddenly jumped!

”Oh damn, I forgot to feed Terrence May!”
