[!] A local artist’s depiction of the city of New Aleksandria, following the departure of the Prince-Regent, circa 1757.

To the citizenry of New Aleksandria, and the subjects of Courland,

King Percival, in his wisdom, has realized the error of his ways and granted me regency of his kingdom. In my wisdom, I am bestowed the power to do with this kingdom what I please. Following the rule of the Prince Regent, Tobias Staunton, the citizenry as well have tired of misrule and poverty.

Upon our mutual agreement, I, Josephine Lisette Beauclair, am to succeed King Percival as the leader of New Aleksandria and it’s people. However, given such power, I cannot say I have any such desire to allow the crown of Courland to continue. I was meant to build my own legacy, to not dwell upon and dig up the feats of a bygone era. Thus, herein, I do declare my intent for this realm:

- The Kingdom of Courland, along with its ancestral titles, are hereby permanently dissolved and put to rest. Any who dare seek to revive this legacy will be met with the wrath of both the House of Beauclair and its stalwart allies.

- The House of Staunton, in both name and practice, is hereby disavowed and declared extinct upon the death of King Pervical. Any of his surviving children or descendants, as well as further cousins or kin, must take the surname relating to the place of their birth. If such a place is unknown, they may take any other surname of their choosing. Any who seek to defy this law and declaration will be declared an enemy of the Beauclair Administration and enemy of New Aleksandria, forfeit to arrest and trial upon entry to the city or countryside.

Josephine Beauclair will be named as Lady of New Aleksandria. This role will be held until such a time when the new ruling council devises a plan for the land and the city, upon which a new title will be decided upon for her.

New Aleksandria will be under an eviction for the time of one saint’s year. Those desiring to vacate the city are free to do so without persecution. Those desiring to stay and profit under this new government may seek out the ruling council and the Lady of New Aleksandria for confirmation of residence and job postings.

King Percival will be regarded as ‘King Emeritus’ during the duration of his remaining years of life. He will be allowed residence within a section of the Selsmire Palace, where he might receive visitors under official supervision. His wife, Queen Elissa Staunton, will be allowed the title of ‘Queen-Dowager’ following the death of her husband, and will rank above all in court outside of the governing Lady and her family. Until such time, she will be regarded as the ‘Queen Emeritus’.

The Crown Jewels of Courland will fall into the hands of the Beauclair Treasury, to be eventually put on display to the public following proper documentation.

Any children born from the bodies of King Percival and Queen Elissa may retain their royal titles so long as their patriarch remains alive. Following this, only the King’s heir, Emmeline Grace Staunton, will retain the titular status of ‘Princess Royal of Aleksandria’, which she will hold until her own death. This allows the King’s heir a role at court, though this title cannot be inherited by any heirs of the Princess following her death.

All previous council members, under the expectation that they accept the new leadership of Josephine Beauclair, may retain their roles or petition to take on new tasks. Additional positions will be afforded to the King Emeritus, Queen Elissa, and the Princess Royal of Aleksandria, as well as the Dowager-Princess of Beaufort, Maria Tiber.

In the coming year, the beginnings of a proper public government will be laid out for the citizens of New Aleksandria. The people will have the ability to elect their own representatives, who will aid in the creation of laws within our city-state. The exact name of this establishment has yet to be determined.

May GOD guide us on this new path.

May GOD bless the people of New Aleksandria!

Signed,

His Royal Majesty, Percival II of the House of Staunton, King Emeritus of New Aleksandria

Her Royal Majesty, Elissa of the House of Staunton, Queen Emeritus of  New Aleksandria

Her Royal Highness, Emmeline Grace of the House of Staunton,

Princess Royal of  New Aleksandria

The Right Hon., Josephine Lisette Beauclair,

Lady of New Aleksandria

Lúmithil’s shrouded visage overlooked new Aleksandria from above, the heights offering a better view to see the events transpire. What simply began as a service to Sir Adrian of Helena turned to be quite an interesting ordeal, he recalled the night those things took place; how words ruled instead of bloodshed. Something of a change to his seasoned skirmisher position among the realm, an odd job that proved fruitful. Though a smirk still sat in his features. For he knew things were about to take place. “For good, or worse. We shall see.” he stated as the wind embraced his flaxen-hairs.

A former Merentel by the name of Lyam smiles at the news of sweet justice. “This is the best news to reach my ears in a long time.” He muses to himself, while enjoying a 12 years distilled Gyldenholt Whiskey in the Bustier Royale Inn, within the Suffonian City.

Henry chuckled faintly upon receiving the news, nudged his cousin James in the royal gardens of Suffonia “Hah! idiots not making any sense, came out as white eagle only to dissolve days after? More like cowardly dogs than an eagle, if I may say James.” After the comment, he threw a stick across the garden, waiting for someone to catch it

“It seems that the King of Courland’s claim is only strengthened by the Stauntons’ willingness to self-immolate to stop him.” Porphyre shrugged to an unknown interlocutor.

“Honestly, same.” A working-class mother of four would remark as she worked the fields of the Imperial Crownlands.
