Heavily emphasising this. Asking for magic OOC, be it in game or mediums otherwise, is a huge turn-off for those who actually do have magic TAs. Your safest bet is being around often, keeping your expectations low, and not making an ass of yourself. Do also interact with many different communities, but in the end, it’s a matter of why you want the magic; if you’re going to do edgy **** with it, it is likely people won’t share magic with you.

Yea........ Don’t just ask for magic in a Public OOC medium, or really in OOC at all. If you want to learn a form of magic, find out about it RPly and wait to find a teacher, don’t go searching for a teacher OOCly. In some magic communities, making a post like this could literally turn every teacher away from you as it’s a bad look. Just do the type of RP you enjoy, whether it be Combat, SoL, Political, or merchant, and wait for your character to get a chance to learn about magic or meet a teacher. Obviously pushing your character into situations where they might be more likely to meet a teacher is okay, but don’t just ask for magic constantly, it’s a Small part of the game and shouldn’t be the only way you can get enjoyment.

Yeah, I agree with most everyone here on the idea. I’ve been through every type of magic throughout the server with some exceptions being that of the ‘darker arts’ such as necro and mystic, but other than that I’d say i’ve been around the block a few times and the number 1 rule before anything else in learning magic is to never ask oocly. If you are interested in having your character learn magic then you need some key things before most anyone worth a cent would bother teaching you.

1. Get a good purpose for why your character seeks out magic. It can be anything but MAKE IT INTERESTING
2. RP with someone who is a teacher and get them to know that you’re worth being taught and are capable of stepping up your RP to not just meet the standards, but excel beyond them.
3. Ask them for trials or ways to prove yourself and don’t be afraid to ask in character once you are well associated with them. Don’t just be friends for magic, be friends for roleplay and truly be as your character would.

You get a pass for being new, I won’t pile on with anything much else as most of what is valid has been said already, but I do want to say welcome! While there are definitely some magic schools about the place and magic people everywhere, your best bet is just to take pure interest in the knowledge of how it all works rather than seeking people purely to be taught. I would suggest getting a baseline of magical knowledge from the Dragur library from spawn and make friends as you go along!
