May I get a crumb of staff initiative?

Today marks three months (and one day) since an illegal (as in, no-RP) break-in has resulted in Areln's @Areln and my Haense home's inventory being relieved of nine partially filled double chests' worth of Vortex ores and tools. I'll not address the peculiar issue of locks that I'm 99% sure had existed at some point disappearing from the oldest chests in our home (and literally from no other chest, out of two dozen containing non-Vortex items) - to err is human, and perhaps those chests had indeed never been locked at all, which would have made the theft, if disgustingly heartless (whoever the thieves were, they had made sure to rid these chests of every single useful item, including the incomplete, outdated stacks of old Vortex ores, and all tools above stone-tier, going as far as to rearrange the stone tools in better tools' places), entirely valid had it been conducted through appropriate RP.

I will, however, address the fact that on that very same day (January 9, for reference), after a successful /modreq, a quick, if not immediate, resolution had been assured to us once it was determined that the theft had actually been illegal. Of course, as it goes, this coincided with the release of vaults, and the handling moderator, Heero @Heero, was also responsible for the safe delivery of hundreds of vaults - for which we are rather grateful, though it did impede the solution of our issue. After waiting for weeks, as it also goes - we were informed that the issue went much deeper than a simple replenishment of our inventory. Heero told us that a restoration of that many Vortex items (remember, the plugin that had been promised to have no bearing on RP or staff capabilities?) required direct intervention and permission from a tech dev or an admin - these being Llir @Llir and Nicky @nickrocky213.

At this point, all communication with us ceased. While I must say that I certainly do not think less of Llir and Heero, whose contributions to the server I quite value otherwise, neither of them has, by this point, deigned to respond to my queries (Heero in a definitive manner, and Llir not at all, as my DM to him still lies unanswered). In contrast, we were able to actually initiate conversation with Nicky a week or so ago - who promptly informed us that he felt reluctant to give us back that many Vortex items, regardless of the fact that they had been illegally stolen, or that we've been waiting for a resolution for three months. In the end, he relented and agreed to at least partially resolve our issue, on the condition that Llir or Heero corroborate our story. This still hasn't happened.

It would be remiss of me to not mention that this ordeal has, naturally, killed any sort of desire in me to further interact with the Vortex plugin, at the cost of losing three months' worth of potential profits and stockpiles; it has made us unwilling to spend time on the server to begin with, especially should another issue arise and prove unsurmountable by requiring staff attention or Vortex tinkering. I'm uncertain whether at this point we'd be willing to accept any compromise solution, and the map change promises of streamlined mechanics and staff interactions leave a sour taste in my mouth. It saddens me that a forum post is necessary to bring this issue to light again; God knows that, though our issues are incomparable, many other players have had similar experiences with a lot more serious problems. If Vortex issues all require express permission from its creator to settle, then I believe the playerbase has been lied to in regards to its viability; yet, a deeper issue persists if players cannot trust the moderation to solve problems effectively. If the only option that remains to us is to quit in protest over this, then those in charge of player retention should certainly wonder if losing out on two veteran players over Vortex Iron™ is worth it.

I asked Heero to play his dwarf about 4 months ago and I'm still waiting. I'm disappointed, frankly put.

also jokes aside, it is incredibly disheartening when smth like this happens and it doesn’t leave much motivation for ppl to continue playing when any progress can be taken and not returned without warning

I second lithium’s stance on this, but I really do appreciate ur assurance that it’ll be addressed @Heero ! Every1 does make mistakes occasionally + there are a looot of players to keep track of so it makes sense it’ll happen sometimes, tho hopefully this particular situation won’t happen to others as it has been difficult to bounce back from long hours of grinding for vortex stuff just so we can get on w/ rp

I'll get back to you in approximately three business days, @LithiumSedai

One LotC business day is the equivalent to one week

The loss of resources seems entirely your own fault not sure how this situation is an indictment on Vortex. Tbh I'm surprised they even offered back your items

ok everyone shut up now

1. Chests not locked are pretty much free game so long as sufficient roleplay is done. (Though it was clearly not which warrants a refund from the player who took them, not from the staff team. I'm not sure why this wasn't considered.)

2. Vortex items can't just be spawned in regularly, so please understand that this is something we'd have to take to tech/admins. As a veteran player you should expect a response from either to take a bit. Next time, bother someone like me to bother them for you. (though there is truly no excuse for having to wait so long for a response.)

That being said, I will do said bothering to get you your items back. Happy grinding!
