Apologies in advance for the formatting, writing this post on my phone. Good time to mention that there are no ways to center text on mobile ;-;

[!] A letter would be penned to multiple recipients, and was clearly written quickly and roughly.

It is not a question of where the Rosemoor auction was held: the answer would be simple. I allowed the army to march into Sedan, and thus the keep, and did nothing to stop it. This is true- and will be corroborated by all witnesses you can call. I expect all guilt, should any truly lie on Sedan, to not lie on the state but on me Caelan, simply the man in charge of the keep in Prince Leopold’s absence.

The question that I wish to attest my story; was it done in malice, or simply in an attempt to save myself, and the lives of many other innocents from a large rally, even if it meant others would be fine. Because truly- how may I be expected, by myself, the Queen-Mother and a handful of Sedanian soldiers, be expected to defend my small keep, without a sort of defense gate, against an army that the largest Empire couldn’t stop?

  • To the Holy Orenian Empire: I shall submit myself to your judgement, if I am able to after being trialed, should I be, by Urguan, under the following terms: 3 jurymen, not in the ISA, MOJ, or any government institution, and a majority vote in order to convict me guilty of any crimes you wish to levy upon me. I wished to rectify relations between Sedan and Oren myself, but it is clear that this event will prevent such from happening until I am either crucified for my alleged crimes, or cleared of them. My actions are not Sedans actions, and I wish not for my family and people to be adversely affected.
  • To the Kingdom of Haense: I have already returned your people to your heartlands. Your people have returned unharmed, and their freedom was ensured by my actions. Should you wish to press charges upon me, you may, after being trialed by Urguan and Oren, should I be alive to come; but I believe I went above what was expected of me in order to rectify the situation. I will reiterate how I had no choice in the matter of where the slaves were sold; alas, if you presume I could have, or should have fought harder, you may.
  • To the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, the liege of Sedan: I have broken your laws and angered your chancellory. I will submit to you first, as my rightful liege lords, should you wish to continue your Chancellor’s threats to trial me- threats which I do not believe to be idle.

You may wish to crucify me, but even in death I shall believe my innocence. God shall grant me remission from my sins, if the world will not.

-Caelan

A response would be penned from the office of the Lord Chancellor:

"You, alone, had managed to meet me outside of your keep, in which you had tried to claim you were being held 'hostage' against your will. Yet if such were true, how would you have met me without a sword to your throat? You did not attempt to send bird to the Urguani legion, despite having proven you were capable to leave the Keep without supervision. You will be tried by the Courts of Urguan, and your actions shall fall on your entire family. Slavery is not something we permit within our Grand Kingdom, so may you apologize profusely to your family for the situation your idiocy has put them in" ~ Lord Chancellor Azkel Frostbeard

Lukas Castile booed as he listened to Caelan read his letter out loud to Lukas and the rest of the de Joannes brothers. He began to throw bits of bread that he tore off of a loaf at Caelan, chuckling as he did so, “Boo, don’t apologize to a midget King and a self declared Emperor of no vassals.”

A bedridden Elsil’Ceru chuckled faintly, before delving into a brief coughing fit. “Luckily Legolas is a servant, ne a slave!” she affirmed to her brother, who had also suffered a similar illness delivered upon the pair from the sky gods themselves!

A short and simple response would be issued from the Office of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Empire.

"I have a warrant issued in your name to the Imperial State Army and the Imperial Constabulary that will lead to your detainment once you are put under trial by the Courts of Urguan.

Signed,

The Chief Justice

Baron Olivier A. Halcourt J.D. SSE SCJ"

Very loud, and incoherent screaming can be heard from the office of Henry Bishop, the leader of Sedanian forces. Why such affairs had to happen without his knowledge was beyond him, and the fact that it had happened whilst he was incapable of preventing it seemed to cause such outburst of frustration.

"Caelan..." Sputtered a certain Luka Bishop as he read the declaration. "C*nts." Grumbed the man as he set his copy down unto his dinner table. Moving to prepare himself for Caelan's many trials ahead.
