Father Johan Vuiller would be within the cathedral as his son Rev would come rushing to him with the news. the aged man closing in on his 96th birthday would widen his eyes in terror from the news as he'd quickly leave the Cathedral. the aged man would keep his past as he'd enter the palace going up towards the Apartment of John VIII. Upon reaching the door he'd be stopped by guards of the Imperial State Army the aged man shouting to them as they blocked his way "Ich am the Chaplain of this Imperial Household, and ich come to pray for his Imperial Majesty!" the aged man seeming in a somewhat state of panic as he stood there, knowing his last remaining friend was ill behind closed doors, his eyes would water a slight as stress would seize the man he'd step a bit backwards. "are vy going to deny vyr Emperor a prayer for good health and a quick recovery?! are vy truly this heartless?" the man throwing his trident to the side, removing the few pieces of armor he held upon himself, a old and scared man was all that was left within his priestly robes "John!" he'd shout, in hopes of seeing his last living close friend "Vy better stay strong! We are still to celebrate vyr 80th year!" he'd stand there, not moving simply waiting to see his friend for what he hoped would not be the last time..

25 minutes ago, Marquisee2 said:

“It seems a certain someone has swallowed too many swords.” voiced Renée with a laugh.

"Seems as John Charles lived up to the name of his Johannian predecessors, as he too conquered men by the thousands, though not through warfare." A certain Princess Henrietta Maria uttered as she heard of the unexpected regency. Though, the thought of John Charles and her former home country of Oren was soon forgotten as she opened the door to her bedchamber, welcomed by her two very good friends, Henry and Thomas.

"What is this?" Isa said in the study of the Basrid Manor, "So it is as I have foreseen... His Imperial Majesty lies on death's door..." He would quickly discard the notice, going back to his studies.

Madron sat back at his desk and mumbled. “The Era of John Charles comes to an end, what a shame.”

Charlotte Augusta uttered a flurry of prayers for her bedridden uncle, who had only spoken with her in confidence just a few saint's days prior.

"Yet another Novellen on the brink of being taken from us," She'd remark to her daughter, Anna 'Moliana'. Her belief in some Augustine Curse seemed to only intensify, misfortune and grief following eachother.

14 HF 1836.

The news of the Regency of 1836 dominated the papers both broadsheet and tabloid. Plastered upon nigh on every page was a column, editorial or commentary about His Imperial Majesty's health or the future of the country. A keen reader, however, would notice a small paragraph in the bottom right corner of the seventh page of one of the more unsavory tabloids (near to the comedy section) little more than a footnote.

George Stanislaus Kovachev (17501836)

George Kovachev, Surveyor-General of the Holy Orenian Empire, died in Providence today, the Fourteenth of Harren's Folly, in the year of our Lord Eighteen-Thirty-Six.

Haeseni by birth, Mr. Kovachev had been an Imperial subject for all of his adult life. Fittingly in the eyes of this gazette, he met his expiration after having consumed a large meal, consisting of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, kippers and brandy, finished with his favorite pastry, prikaz pie.

"God punishes those who shirk their duties and shrink away from their holy obligations. How can an atheist be considered anything but a madman when the laws of God are so clear. Perhaps the nobility can take this impiety to heart going forward and amend their ways lest they suffer the same chastisement from the Lord" Paul would huff to his seminarians upon hearing the news

Jeorj Schnitzel-Vealen, primate of the church, scoffs in agreement. "Aye broeder, let 'teh Crossgawd punish 'teh wicked by takin' 'em in old age. Harhar."

Caspian rose from his seat after hearing the news, moving towards the door. “I believe I owe an old friend a visit.” He uttered, allowing a quick prayer to escape his breath as he paced down the corridor of his home.

Writing in his book of  Emperors Minuvas has lived to see, he adds another comment to his book that he keeps In his personal library.

"John the VIII had clearly been a student of his own upbringing, bringing many years of internal focus and prosperity to Providence much like his father, and leading the Empire through a war early in his reign....

...The Emperor deftly avoided controversial subjects of discussion, allowing his citizens to debate heartily on the temporal matters of the day. He did, however, consistently emphasize to his subjects the need for GOD, piety, and a collective Orenian spirit...

Despite these efforts of a focus on GOD and fulfilling his duty as Defender of the Faith in conflicts across the continent, the Church proved to be a consistent thorn in the Emperor's side. The relationship between Church and Empire was proving problematic as militant anti-Imperial wings of the Church were being allowed to flourish under Church leaders without cause....

The challenge for his successor remains difficult. Bandits and mercenaries harass imperial subjects at a higher rate, the Citizens need new life breathed into them, and the Church and the Empire must reconcile lest Canonism drift into contestant sects under the nose of Church leaders....

...May GOD Save the Emperor,

And may he reach th Seventh Sky.."

Anne Caroline once more was overtaken by sorrow. Her breathing became shallow as she remembered when her grandmother and namesake, Anne I has died. The Crestfall felt alone when such happened, but her uncle, then a man known by the name of John Charles, was there for her.

She gazed about the room, a wince escaping her. Anne reached to push open the window. She did something she hadn't done for years - decades even, and climbed upon the roof to look over the resting city of Providence. There, she spoke a prayer and quietly uttered to herself:

"Please get well again, Uncle John. I know, it is not your time yet. You must push on for your family."

Philip Hughes de Rosius sat within his chamber, reading the declaration of regency with a saddened look upon his face. "May GOD heal His Imperial Majesty and may GOD help His Imperial Highness, Prince Philip Augustus on ruling our Great Empire." He signed the Lorraine, dipping his head to the cross that hung inside his room at a wall. "I have no doubt that your brother will be an excellent ruler during your rest and absence. DIEU sauve l'Empereur et DIEU aide le Prince-Régent. Vive l'Empire Orénien. Vive Sa Majesté Impériale et Vive Son Altesse Impériale, Et sa famille."

"Mortality is a strange thing," Muses the Bishop of Rochefort as he raises a hand to the cross that sits around his neck. "This mortal life we live is nothing compared to the next, but each of us is called upon to do GOD's work in it. We must answer that call each in our own way." He releases his gently grasp from the cross and signs the Lorraine.
