TO OUR BELOVED SUBJECTS

We are saddened to announce that His Imperial Majesty, John VIII, has fallen ill to a sickness of the mind. During Our period of recovery, We will remain in the company of Our closest friends and family, within the Augustine Palace. In order that the affairs of State be carried out properly, We appoint beloved brother Philip Augustus, the heir presumptive and Duke of Crestfall, as Prince-Regent for the duration of Our illness. We grant him all of Our authorities and entrust to him the safety of Our people. We welcome your prayers for Our health, and offer you Our utmost faith that the Orenian people shall remain resolute, as they always have.

His Imperial Excellency, Sir Ledicort d’Azor would finish off signing the last of the documents that were to be sent out to various military and governmental offices. His aid would move to bring forward a private letter with the Emperors seal. He would move to grab his crane as he would move towards the Imperial Augustine.

”John....May God protect you and bring you back to your proper health. One God, One Empire, One Emperor.” he would whisper to himself.

"What an interesting development, however not completely unforeseen I suppose." Hogo Bojo II would mutter to himself after hearing the Emperor's Regency Declaration. The man would start tapping his fingers on his new desk repeatedly while thinking. "I suppose the Emperor is getting old after all... I do niet believe that he has long left to live." He would say still muttering with a smirk now on his face as he glanced out the window at the wonderous view of the water just outside his room.

Upon hearing the news the Vice-Chancellor quickly hurries towards the Augustine Palace. Upon his arrival into the Imperial Family's quarters he spots a quiet congregation of people surrounding the doors to the Emperor's chambers. In another room, a congregation of priests lament in the Holy tongue, singing whispered prayers. Drasus offers a private prayer of his own . . .

"May the Lord carry our beloved Emperor through the darkness that plagues his mind, or carry him into the warm embrace of his light should He see it fit."

"God punishes those who shirk their duties and shrink away from their holy obligations. How can an atheist be considered anything but a madman when the laws of God are so clear. Perhaps the nobility can take this impiety to heart going forward and amend their ways lest they suffer the same chastisement from the Lord" Paul would huff to his seminarians upon hearing the news

"Indolence. Impiety. Ignorance. The willful hebetude of the Empire's leaders lead only to an ever more uncertain future. Prayers for this Emperor to wake from his slumbers 'neath gilt sheets and gaze upon the state of his people as Fidei Defensor fell upon deaf ears; one hopes only that the next shall be better."

The man signed the Lorraine.

"GOD is good."

Lukas Castile  laughed from the keep in Sedan, slapping his knee hearing of the great news. "I was paid to fight his war, yet never received the final payment. A stingy bastard is what he was." He leaned back in his wooden chair, the wooden floors creaking as he placed his feet on top of his desk.

Diana d’Azor would shake her head with this next missive she was presented with as she was helping her children to their beds. She quickly sought to go to her desk, kept rereading and rereading such terribleness.

I only hope that His Imperial Majesty gets better.. My faith for this Empire is slowly faltering with such news at once, but we will pull though.. we must.. Oren Aut Mortem.”

With the last of her sentence, she would begin writing some letters over to her siblings and close friends.. Her thoughts spinning around in her mind.. We must all pull through to keep this Empire up float and together. One God, One Empire, One Emperor. Shall we remain true to each other and keep this Empire blossoming.

Sir Charles Galbraith would shrug after hearing the news.

"Most of my friends, including John VIII, have all either disappeared, fallen ill or died."

He would then kneel and sign the Lorraine cross before closing his eyes and muttering a prayer:

"Tell me, Lord, is this life that you have bestowed upon me a penitence? I think that my time to join my old friends in the Seven Skies may have arrived, although I am not sure If I wish to end my journey yet. Please, I beg you, Lord, provide good health and a swift recovery to my friend and Emperor John VIII. Show us your mercy and guide, us, the Orenian people, to Providence. Amen."

Afterwards, the Imperial Knight of the Merit would rise and make his way to the Augustine Palace to visit the ill monarch.
