THE LAST YEARS OF A FATHER..

The last years had been rough, this is not a truth that Johan was able to hide, from once again being removed from his offices of the faith without as much as a reason or letter delivered to him. The death of his dearest student Josephine Augusta of Crestfall to the war breaking lose between canodium.

His Family and himself having fallen victim to the constant attacks by bandits and dwedes from the enemy side. Spending his time as a council to the noble flock of Oren aiding those both of common and noble flock in each way he and his blood possibly could. Though it was during one of these days where the aged priest and Holy Knight preaching to those on the roads between the Empire and East Fleet that he fell victim to a group of bandits attacking the aged man. He survived the attack, but the wounds would set into the aged man for quite some time before he once again got back to the heath of leaving his family's home. His oldest son Ivar whom also had sworn himself to the cloth also there during the attack, getting sliced over his back and trampled by a horse. for months did the Vuillers gather around aiding the two, praying for their health to quickly recover. After a long period of time Johan was once more able to leave his bed, but his son did not carry the same luck and blessing. His wounds to great the man's life drifting away in his sleep with his family around him, leaving behind three sons.

It was during this time that his grandson Kristofer A. Vuiller had been attacked by Bandits from the group known as the Ferrymen, members of the Haense Royal Army and Urguan, forcing the young man to not only fight, but removing his hand and parts of his tongue.

But both he and Johan healed. The aged priest would continue serving within the Imperial lands of Oren for years, spending most of his town taking confessions or holding mass, as well as a marriage from time to time. His oldest son Ivar Vuiller is still bed bound within their estate, constantly watched over by a house nurse.

A painting of Johan from his last years serving as a priest within Providentia.

It was during one of these days not long after Johan had visited his son delivering him a prayer by his bedside that he left for Providence, there he gathered some belongings going to host a mass, but when getting there he found the members of the Imperial State Army gathered at the gates. Being told that a heathen gathering of Ferrymen once again is attacking Providence and had taken two children of the Empire captured, he readied himself. A priest is not to shed the blood of members of its faith, but upon his ordination by Jude II, Johan had asked “And what if I find myself in a situation where heathens attack our noble flock? Am i niet to draw my blade in their defense such as I swore to James II?” Jude II had thought for a moment before he responded “If heathens and bandits attack our noble flock then you may fight Johan, but only to protect the life of those who belong to our faith”

It was this conversation that ventured through Johans head as he stood there, already within his armor from his time as the Knight-Regent, the man raising the trident of his ancestors and Saint Harald as he got ready to join the noble flock in the protection of the innocent canonists of Providence. The air felt thinner for the aged man, the tension filling the streets. After a while of trying to find the Ferrymen they were found to be hiding within the forest park of Providence. But they got tired of waiting, while we planned how to rescue the those taken we saw them walking out of the forest let go as the heathens had gotten tired of waiting.

Johan then declared that he would preach to those gathered for the battle, so that we would march with GOD watching over them. And so they gathered under GODs roof, joined in prayer and their religion of the Canonist Faith. The mass and prayers went on for days, from time to time the heathens were seen outside of the Basilica of the Argentate Star Star. But no fight broke loose, as Johan would continue holding masses twice each day, until he suddenly saw a figure he knew rather well as Francis Cardinal Albarosa entered the cathedral. They spoke for a mere moment before the sound of arrow fire could be heard, Johan turned quickly telling Francis to hide within the upper floors of the cathedral and so he did.

Johan would turn to those gathered signing the lorraine over each and every one of them before he delivered them a final prayer. He lifted his fathers trident, the weapon which had been by his side since his fathers passing in 1761. He had wielded it during the Inferi war, the tenth Nordling war and multiple raids that had occured during his lifetime.

And so they left for battle going outside the cathedral, as no blood should be shed within GODs own house. The battle went on for days. Johan tending to those wounded when finding the chance, shouting prayers as they marched and fought. After a battle within the forest they moved back towards the cathedral, Johan seeing some of his comrades outnumbered he quickly went towards their aid upon the Cathedral stairs. The ancient man knowing this would be his last stance. He found himself successful in aiding his comrades as he turned to raise his shield his eyes would flicker. a tear rushing forming within his eye as he looked down. His gaze halting on that of steel within his chest. A roar leaving him as he would proceed to send his trident forth into the heathen in front of him, but not long after did he once more feel the pain of steel slashing over his back. The man fell to his knees upon the stairs. His gaze moved upwards to the sky as his graying eyes began to flicker as he would collapse upon the cathedral stairs.

After moving the aged man's body a few letters would be found within his chest plate sent out to each of his children and grandchildren.

Spoiler

[!] All letters were privately given to those sent for, this information can therefore not be used irply by anyone else then those who received the letters. Though all of the letters would start off the same.

Dear family, as I sit within my office at our family home I find myself looking over the paintings filling our halls. They are filled with memories of lives well lived and times long past. I have reached the age of one hundred and thirteen, a triumph I believed I would never reach as I write these letters.. But with the war on our horizon, and the constant attacks our home has been under by the enemies who seek to destroy the Empire of which we serve and live in, I feel my time closing in, I pray we shall get many more memories with one another upon God's terra. Love Johan.

Ravn Vuiller.

To my dearest Ravn, my little princess.. You have grown to become such a strong woman in your own person. A good judge of character, smart, kind and safe.. You might find times where you doubt yourself, but remember what we spoke about, remember who you are as you are far stronger than you give yourself credit for. Life has not always been fair to you, and in many ways neither have I. For that I'm sorry. But I trust in you that you will continue the path set before you. That you will one day get to see your own sons have children of their own, that you will get through this. We worry about these times at war, and with good reason, no matter the outcome, no matter whom of us are still standing as the dust settles, remember that what we bring with us is the memories of the times of the past. Those will live on for eternity within our hearts. and will do so until we shall greet one another again within the seven skies.

Remember that I will always be within your heart Ravn, and shall keep watch over you from within the seven skies.. take care of those boys of yours, as they are truly a blessing..

~ Love, Papa”

Mink Vuiller.

Minky, my little warrior.. You have proven more than any, that life is your own, that you decide what you wish from it and to do with it. You have lived a life of your own making, not caring about what others say or do. This is bringing me far more joy in my life then I believe you could understand as well. All a father wishes for in life is to see his children happy, to succeed in the path they choose for themself. You have done this. You might not have lived a traditional life, but you have lived one that made you happy. and through this made me happy as well. You were always a bit of a wild child growing up, never knowing where you exactly were as you could stand at one place and then be gone the next second with as much as a trace.

But know this Mink, you have made me more proud then I even can explain in words, never falter from this as your life is yours to live, and i shall see you soon enough within the seven skies again

~Love Papa”

Rev Vuiller.

Rev, You have chosen quite a different route in life then what i believed you would when you were

a young child. I remember you picking flowers trying to sell them to the people of Providence. You

have faced many hardships in your life, and for many of them I’m at fault for. For this I’m sorry.

But I’m glad knowing your life has settled well in writing this letter. You have a wife loving you,

beautiful children, and a respectable career in front of you. I’m proud of who you have become,

and can’t wait to see what more you might do from the seven skies.

~Love, Papej Johan”

Stor Vuiller.

Stor, You have grown up in a life with a father that was never truly present in your life. and with your mothers passing i wish i would have been able to spend more time with you. But you have been able to give me the gift of change. You helped me open my eyes and better understand and forgive for actions taken in the past. Aiding me in having one anger less within my life in my last years. You have found your path within the Holy institution that our forefathers have served for generations now, there is none other I would have to carry our name further within the church. You have been a blessing and a gift to an old man's daily life. I pray that your health shall keep you for years on years and shall be glad to watch over you from the seven skies. Remember that both I and your papej are proud of you. Even if we have not said it enough.

~Love Grandpapej Johan.”

Diana Valentina Vuiller.

Diana, you entered our family as a blessing within a darkened time. spreading the light of yourself within our house, your bright personality affecting us all in a positive manner.  Your family and myself have for long been close friends with my friendship to your late papej, a man who truly gave all of himself for our Empire. I could easily see why you called you the Jewel of d’Azor. You have taken in my grandchildren as if they were your own children, showing my son a version of love I believe he had come to think was dead. For this I thank you. I shall enjoy watching over you from within the seven skies.

~Love, Johan”

Duncan Vuiller.

Duncan.. Duncan.. Duncan.. I must admit I was quite skeptical of you early on. But I have grown to believe you to be a good man, one who truly wishes for nothing less than the protection of my family, Our family. I have treated you the same as I would have any looking to court one of my daughters, lucky you were a choice I felt safe in agreeing with. You and Ravn have given me two wonderful grandsons, and for this I’m forever grateful, but I shall remind you of the promise you made me. Until we shall meet again..

~ Johan”

Kristofer

Kristofer, You have grown so quickly, a man interested in culture and history, growing to become a man with a voice that will be heard. You fight for our family and Empire. Taking a stance against wrongdoings against others. You show who we are in your actions. You show that our teachings are present. That all are worth fighting for, and that their souls can be saved if following the right path. I have left you a few chocolate chip cookies within the estate.

~Love, Grandpapej Johan”

Kristian

Kristian, You as well have grown to quite the person. You have finally found your own path, and a wonderful person to share it with. For this I’m truly happy as you shall after your father carry the duty of our household.  You shall ensure that our values are followed, that are teachings are teached. I trust this with you, and firmly believe you will be able to do this well and make our forefathers proud.

~Love, Gramdpapej Johan”

Lucien

Lucien, you curious little one. You remind me quite a lot of your Aunt Mink I must admit. Your questions and view of life give us all a sense of hope for the next generations. We have not been able to hold too many moments with you that you will remember, but I will forever treasure the moments within my own heart. Never forget what blood we hail from and who we are. As this is what makes us Vuillers

~Love Grandpapej Johan”

Johan II

Johan, you seem to grow more and more each time I see you, taking quite a bit after both your mamej and papej, and lucky some of myself as you carry my name. I trust that you will become a grand person for the world and this Empire. and that you as well may find your own path in life. May my name bring you some sort of guidance and blessing.

~Love Grandpapej Johan”

Victor

Dear Victor. I’m saddened that we never got to speak to one another again after our last encounter. I know I have been harsh against you and your path in life. But I firmly believe I was in the right and that you have come better out from this after it. But trust me when I say I never stopped loving and caring for you like I did taking care of you after your mamejs passing. I shall watch over you from the seven skies, where we as well shall meet once again.

~Grandpapej Johan”

The Vuillerians

To my extended family, both new and those I cared for as my own children. Some of you know me

rather well, some have even known me for over eighty years as of writing this letter. Either way

you have all been loved and welcomed additions to our house. I pray that you shall continue to

learn of our teachings, that our family continues to grow and that our traditions and cultures

susurvive. both within the main line and the Vuillerian line. May Saint Harald Vuiller guide our
minds and paths.

  ~Love Johan Vuiller”

Ivar Vuiller.

[!] The letter would be brought to Ivar, but when it was delivered they would find his oldest son

dead within his bed at the Vuillerian estate. the aged man having fallen into a deep slumber as his

heart would slowly have stopped beating. The man now resting within the Seven skies with his

Father, grandfather, five of his siblings and well as his mother. Dying at the age of ninetyfour.

Spoiler

Hey guys! I just kinda wished to take a moment to process the whole thing. I started playing Johan when he was five and have played him as my main character until the very moment in which I died now at the age of 113. It has been a hell of a ******* ride, I have not had to many personas on this server as i tend to stick to one until its done, where i feel as if the story finds is final chapter. And Johan has truly had such an amazing story and evolution as a character. I was able to do what I have enjoyed the most in these characters, which is mainly hang out with my Vuiller fam and religious rp within the canonist church. I have followed six different Pontiffs, seen the rise and fall of six Emperors/Empresses, Five or so Kings of Haense and a bunch of different other people within the different communities I have spent time in.

There are so many people who should get thanks for all of the amazing roleplay I have been able to enjoy with them. But with no one mentioned, no one is forgotten, but I truly wish to say thank you to everyone who has rped with me on Johan EXCAT two years as of this week i have played him. It's kinda sad to end his story here, but I have always said that I intend on pking once I get killed, and with the amount of rp before and the fact I actually got popped for the first time on the character that time had come.

I do believe I have been able to do quite a bit on Johan as well, affecting different places and people. at least i hope i did haha. And i must say i do not think i could see another way to end this story that might be more fitting then Johan fighting for what he believed in, that every canonist is worth saving in the end, and the fact i got popped on the stairs of the cathedral was even more fitting.

Once again thanks for all the fun in this persona! I have truly had a blast and an amazing time with this, and I hope to see y’all in my other personas!

Peace!

Mink Vuiller sat within her room, looking over the letter and reading it over 3-10 times. Tears stained the paper and clung to her outfit. "Papa... I miss you so much. Please let us join once again, may it be sooner or later."

The Archchancellor signed the lorraine as he raised himself from the Cathedral in Providence, just that month before good cannonists had been slain infront of it by the Ferrymen and coalition forces. Joseph thought back to his conversations throughout the years with the man. "This should not have been his end... He deserved so much more and we shall give him such."

Kristain Harald Vuiller found himself unable to speak as his dull eyes looked over the page that he had been handed. He turned back to his room, making for the window as he coughed harshly into his sleeve. After a moment more of hacking, he would speak in a weak, breathless voice. "I'll miss ye, grandpa.. 'ope ye feel grand en the afterlife.." The sickly fellow then went back to bed, locking himself in solitude.

Lucien Vuiller sat down, trying to slowly discern the meaning of his grandfather's message. Although he was far more oblivious than his elders, he understood the essence of the event. His grandfather was returning to God. Nonetheless, the dysphoria that absorbed his family eventually reached him, and tears gathered in his verdant eyes.

As tears streamed down her face, her arms embraced her husband, Rev Vuiller, as she knew how losing a Father was... Diana Vuiller would stay by his side as she spoke a few words in the mist of their tears..

"Losing a Father is one of the worst feelings.. Espeically Johan- he was one of the men I looked up too in this Empire.. for his loyalty, his reverence, his faith.. I'm sorry Rev, I'm so sorry.. He'll be remembered by those he helped and served. I know he will be..."

No stranger to grief was that Cardinal of Albarosa, yet this death hit him worse than most others. After composing himself and wiping his eyes dry, the Clergyman lit a white-wax candle in memory of the Vuiller. "You are now with your father, and everyone else that has gone, Johan," he solemnly declares, and this notion gives the Cardinal some comfort.

Someplace, at sometime, the news of the Vuiller patriarch's death made its way to a certain elf and doctor- weary, worn, and long forgotten. A brief frown met his tan features as he stirred. The last remaining familiarity he'd clung to from his formative youth had fallen.

Akan Vuiller  lit a transient candle flame for the only father he'd ever known; the man he couldn't save in a country he hadn't lived in for a long, long time.

apologies for not playing akan for a good year, and bad formatting. i shall fix it in the morning.
