Shmeepicus 4217 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Spoiler The Battle at Stone Tower, 1856 A man of Blackvale, finishing a Dwarven combatant off. Spoiler https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/612278511835613472/ On the 10th of the Deep Cold, 1856, the Empire was already planning their new offensives into the Heathen realm. Lieutenant Colonel Quinn Darkwood organized a raid into Urguani land, when he was relayed information of an Uruk war party deep within the territories of Oren. When the men sallied out, a mere eighteen hundred soldiers marched onwards. A large detachment was sent home, and the smaller group pressed on to Eastfleet, where they were met by a sizeable company of the Ferrymen and those Renatian men of Blackvale, the Prince Gaspard van Aert among them. The force marched through now occupied Dwarven land as they crossed the Bridge of Unification, they were surprised at the lack of activity upon the road, and made camp for a moment uproad of Haverlock. When they arrived they were surprised to see not a soul inside- perhaps the craven Sedanites were intelligent enough to leave their hovels, for their newly erected city would soon burn. It would appear that the Dwarves' hold upon Imperial land was anything but strong- as they were not even prepared to defend it, despite a formal renewing of hostilities a Saint’s day prior. They marched onwards into the Urguan frontier, a force consisting of two-thousand men and it was there, among the tunnels and towers at the old Ferrymen keep they waited in ambush. Hours passed before the combined Urguan and Krugmar force emerged from their hovels, outflanking the Orenian forces in a trap. They faced off both their front and rear, the Uruk’s mounting the palisades of Stonetower whilst the Dwarves of Urguan stood steadfast upon their steeds before the combined host. Banjo, Captain of the Ferrymen, bellowed out a call, “pull back, quickly!” As the melee began, the Orenian forces just managed to slip through the trap and began an organized retreat to Stonetower, that was the Dwarven folly. Having fought with the Ferrymen and men of Blackvale before, one would think them knowledgeable of their tactics- yet their stubbornness and ignorance proved a boon to the Imperial’s today, as they fell for this bait and swiftly gave chase. With another swift order, “turn, now!” Banjo cried out amidst the clamor, the forces quickly spun on a heel and, with a fervor not before seen, met steel with their enemy. The melee was fierce, yet quick and decisive, steel clashing against steel as the two sides met. Once the dust had settled, blood soaked the earth, not that of any humans as a mere hundred of the Imperial rally laid in the dirt, yet Urguani land was soaked with the blood of twenty-two hundred dead Dwarves and Orcs. A rage has been awoken within those of Oren- one that will not be satisfied until Imperial lands are returned to us. Any who would be bold enough to stand in our path will meet the same end those who braved the combined forces of Oren, the Ferrymen and Blackvale did today. The days of the Dwarves number few- the days of Sedan fewer. We will take back our home and avenge the lives lost in its defense.

Asutto 2452 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Princess Victoria Emma was the first rider to return to Providence after the battle. Her sword hung unsheathed at her side. The crimson hue of the life essence of several dwarves coated the blade. For the combined dwarf and orc rally, it was a disaster but for the Imperials and Ferrymen, it was a triumphant victory."News from the front?" A man had asked the girl after seeing her blade."Two thousand dwarves and orcs lay on the roads of Urguan." She replied."And ours?" "One hundred." Commented some hidden alchemist - his eye glued to a telescope. "Does he purposely send them out with dull blades?" He asked of a nearby friend which just happened to be an automaton snake. MapleSunflower 1889 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Dr. Primrose Gendik sat in front of the fireplace with her husband, Sir Arthur Komnenos ( @MailC3p), the two sharing drinks that were looted from the dwarven dead. She need not read the missive - instead she listened to the story straight from the man who had been there to fight as well. The physician lived vicariously through her husband's retelling and excitedly drank from the pumpkin spice limited edition drink she had chosen for the night. Esterlen 4499 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Goran Goldhand crawls out of a hole somewhere in occupied Lower Petra. The dwarvish merchant wanders for a few hours, finally reaching the road, where he came across a Haeseni garbed in black and yellow. “Hail to the Fidei Defensor!” the dwarf screeched in greeting, “Oi have been hidin’ from an Imperial host, but now there be no soign of ‘em. Can ye escort meh back to Havelock?” Goran needed to return to the Sedanite-occupied town sooner rather than later. He had a seminar on the Brathmordakin and dwarven military history to teach the locals there. The Haeseni spoke, but he did not sound like any Haeseni the dwarf had met before. As it so happens, he was an Imperial free company militiaman, and yellow and black just turned out to be his family colours. Before nightfall, Goran Goldhand was back in prison in Providence. He ought to have remained in that hole after all.
