Reasoning

It's commonly discussed that transfiguration is arguably the worst voidal magic. Abjuration isn't a good magic, being the worst tool in a multi-slotted mage's arsenal with almost any other magic being a better option. All of it's other uses are mostly non-combative in nature besides the infamous enchantments. Transfiguration being worth two slots back in the day made a lot of sense with how overpowered enchantments were, but enchantments got so heavily nerfed they rarely see uses from non-mages and mages alike. Transfiguration is ultimately not worth the two slots it takes up, and the people who chose to take up transfiguration for the cool flavor rp it can produce outside of combat get heavily punished for doing so. There is no reason for transfiguration to continue being a two slotted magic.

I think another good solution would be to split Abjuration and the rest of tfig into two separate magics that take one slot each. In the process, rewrite abjuration because it's SO useless. At this point if all of abjuration got shot and we just had the other half of tfig that would also be sick.

Nobody would shed a tear if Enchantments were just up and shelved. They should've been nerfed in some other way, or not nerfed at all. At the very least, yeah make it [1] slot. Those slots are precious! But the people yearn for a Higher fantasy setting. Let things be strong again!

Yea for not mages, enchants have become worthless as they take a long time and you are out of the fight after you use them. Why brother spending a long time for a single attack, that might miss anyways, and will take you out of the fight if you dont have a whole array od enchants? But at this point you might as well become a voidal mage. The fact I dont think anyone had likely seen a combat voidal enchant [At least I havent] since the change to them should speak for itself.

 

Leaving it with just none combative artisiany, which is cool- but a flavor thing shouldnt be worth as much as two other magics. This change is really needed at the curent power level of transmutation.

Transmutation: Make it an FA as Artisan magic

 

Enchanting: All mages can do non combat lesser enchants. Give Artificers Potent and Greater enchants makes artificer actually a good choice. They are artificers after all the entire thing was built around enchanting. Get rid of the enchanters sickness it's such a lazy "fix" we can do better than that.

 

Abjuration: make it a 1 slot magic. Turn it from anti magic to defensive magic. Keep it's potency against void stalkers, Voidal taint, Voidal tears and Voidal horrors. B

Lesser Enchantments r still fun, but greater and potent uhhmmm... yeah idc

There is very much a “we need to talk” situation playing out with Transfiguration.

 

Whether or not this amendment passes, lets start discussing how to make this bread and butter fantasy magic better.
