Following the shocking deaths of his parents and predecessors, King Ivan VIII and Queen Nataliya I, Marius ascended the throne on 539 E.S. (1986 F.A.) at the age of twenty-four. The young monarch did not waste any time after the unfortunate accident that claimed the lives of the Twin Crows as plans to reform the Kingdom's noble structure almost immediately came to fruition alongside the success of his diplomatic efforts to maintain the remnants his father's legacy: The Covenant of Man. His Majesty has always aimed to be a champion of transparency and is often seen amongst his people when he does not work tirelessly with the Aulic Council to administer the Kingdom.

Since their childhood and before their betrothal, Princess Juliya Barclay and the then Grand Prince Marius always remained close. King Ivan VIII saw this relationship flourish and, alongside Prince Alfred I and Leon II of Reinmar, sought to strengthen the ties between the Haeseni and Reinmaren further through an alliance of marriage. At a young age, the darling Princess was a common face seen throughout the city of Naevaldev. When it came time to finally rule as Queen-Consort alongside King Marius III, Her Majesty did not hesitate to call for the restoration of the Royal Courts which she fittingly named "The Hope Court" (New Marian: Ve Nadziesk Kort).

THE AULIC COUNCIL

‘To Advise the Crown.’

 

The AULIC COUNCIL (New Marian: EUYLIK KONKIL), or officially known as the AULIC COUNCIL AND PRIVY COUNCIL OF THE CROWN, is composed of commanding members of several Aulic Offices, who hold authority over the Kingdom’s legislature, military, law, interior affairs, treasury and foreign affairs, second only to the Sovereign of Haense, and advises the Sovereign on matters of varying significance. Historically, the Aulic Council has been composed of several trustworthy advisors who oversee the Offices of Palatine, Marshal, Speaker, etcetera. In most cases, those born of nobility have held a seat on the Council although there have been cases where members of the gentry have also held a seat on the Council.

 

As per tradition, these Aulic Councillors [...] ‘are distinguished by the unique bulavas forged using different metals to symbolize where their authority reaches in the Kingdom. The reign of King Petyr I saw the creation of the first Aulic office, the Lord Palatine (f. Chancellor of Haense) which has since been occupied by many under the reigns of the Haeseni monarchs.’ Since Petyr I’s reign, the Aulic Council has emerged as a flourishing body of Haeseni government. History has seen the addition of various Aulic offices to advise the King in matters such as stewardry, foreign affairs, and more. Presented below are these offices and who currently holds them at the leisure of the current reigning monarch, Marius III, in ranking of authority.

THE BOYAR COUNCIL

 

The BOYAR COUNCIL (New Marian: Ve Boyar Trevva) is a group of councillors, often with a singular particular focus or a range that the monarch calls upon for informal advice and suggestion in addition to that of the Aulic Council. Those that reach the office are often chosen for their personal loyalty, diligence and competence to the monarch themselves. Created during the reign of King Sigismund II and once more formulated and codified during the reign of King Sigismund III, the council continues to sit with the intent to bring prosperity to the kingdom.

In the warm office of the Lord Palatine, he seemed to be taking a moment to relax as the last drafts of the council's official directory was made.

 

But that peace did not last. . .

 

Suddenly, out of nowhere, his Palatial Secretary, Lady Reza Ludovar, ( @iris1612 ) sent back droves of copies. The man was confused. How could he forget? He scrambled to write very quick, and very short biographies of the King and Queen. Alas. . . crisis was averted and damage had been minimized.
