srsly anyone complaining about this truly had no idea the magnitude of hate that ran deeply into this community with some witches willingly holding onto their shackles when a community screamed at them to leave.

I rarely say anything negative. But this is most upsetting. I have a frost witch. Never have I ever had negative feedback about my interactions. It is not the CA but it WAS the players within. Who has no part of the CA anymore?

This is bizarre... We were re-building, with a newer community. But instead of asking players who played the CA and just based it off those who gave it a bad name (Yes there were many) You have decided to shelf the CA. We spoke about our issues time and time again. And it fell on deaf ears. We appreciate the hours you guys have spent talking about the FW. But all we asked was for help. And we were denied despite it being in the redlines. We asked for an injection of an ST frost mother, which could have generated such cool RP. Despite it being in the /red-lines/. It feels like being told 'This is a you problem' - 'not an /us/ problem.' ... the entire time. I apologise if any of my words upset anyone. Personally being in this community, and see how much positive growth it has had since the change of leadership. It is seriously disheartening this is the choice the ST has made.

   I am honestly not sure on how I feel with this sudden shelfing of a CA that has been around for years. There has been a recent uprising in activity in their community too. Perhaps the community could have more of a say in these types of choices being made, seeing as we are the very reason the server keeps going. With the constant removal of deep-seeded lore, what truly keeps players around other than wartime, pvp and greed of shiny items?

 

   Suppose we will just have to see how this all pans out.

Even though Frost Witches were cool in idea & potential with the RP investigation & trying to figure out who - it often ended in the Frost Witch(not all but plenty of them) claiming it was Metagamed OOC & being forced to void the whole thing. Now probably, there was some truth to it. Maybe i just got unlucky with who i interacted with as i only had 3-4 encounters of them total. But iirc it was a fairly common thing to happen based on the forum post about Frost Witches last year & overall chatting with people.

 

Sucks that a community get's hit over the head with a shelf still, but unsurprised by it.

After the amendment batch back in spring, it became extremely clear to me that the issue did not lie on some sort of (very real) Metagaming tendency of  at the very least some players for years, but rather just the simple fact that... Disguise RP kinda sucks butt? It is an unsustainable form of Spoopy RP that even when it's working only allows you to engage in SoL RP slop in some random town.

 

And the reason for why this type of RP had became the ONLY option for the CA for Years, was the simple fact that engaging in ANY kind of actively murdery antagonist RP would literally have your own lore go out of its way to punish you.

 

Any death that wasn't caused by bloodloss (on the CA that might as well be immune to bloodloss) would have your Witch Soft-PKed indefinably, requiring an entire Frost Mother (which we've already established as being in a near constant shortage before even the most active one went and got himself banned like a dumb dumb), two whole other Frost Witches - and a freshly killed female corpse - You had to plan an entire hunt to revive a witch slain from either carelessness or infact another hunt. Leading in cases of Veteran players like Luv and Kiko being stuck in soft-PK purgatory for year(s) on end before it was our group (the last one remaining at that) itself that brought them back.

 

And along with the fact that your magic would get absolutely gutted if you stepped out of a place already drowned in snow, every spell requiring an extra emote, becoming significantly worse if not downright useless and some being outright unable to use. Which certainly did not help that the only nations in the northern part of the continent were chronically inactive. It is no coincidence that as soon as these aforementioned amendments passed, that things like Skjoldienhjold (the UNHIDDEN icey keep in the far north) popped into existence and the Fjarriagua going on raids on the regular for the first time ever. One of the first raids we went on for example lead to the entire group getting obliterated in the Crub Bucket... And it was so much FUN! Which prior to the amendments would've resulted in the literal extinction of the CA as a whole, it was that big of a deal.

 

The problem never was the FWs being weak "CRP-Wise" or something silly like that, they never even got a buff to their CRP capabilities in all this time, simply reworking the climate system to allow them to use their base magic where people were actually active.

Which is why stuff like this is nothing but a blatant lie. The CA 100% was on the path to grow to become sustainable in its activity at long last (at least as much as all the other CA/MAs) , because you now had actual capabilities to engage in RP, hecc, I did far more impactful Antag RP in the first month after coming back from my summer hiatus than I had in my ENTIRE time as a Frost Witch.

Which is what exactly had changed. I wasn't going to resume taking care of the CA when the only thing you could as an "Dark CA" was lure some poor dude on a back alley and shank him with 3 different knife-holding Fjarriagua that couldn't use their magic at all, because all your rituals and feeding mechanics needed you to murderhobo. The Fjarriagua could actually do stuff and grow as a community, and when its players' characters had grown enough I would make sure to make them Frost Mothers as well to finally end the cycle of the CA crumbling if the (last remaining) Frost Mother didn't get online to be a ritual battery.

 

And in Diogen's defense, creating a new Frost Mother takes a really long time of actually "training" a new batch of newly cursed witches for them to be considered "Veteran" enough to take on the mantle, which certainly didn't help that prior to said amendment there was a huge burn out rate, as well as the fact that no sane person would get the 5-slot literal punishment to your character that becoming a Mother is, unless you were OOCly forced to (Source: My dumb dumb butt).

 

I am really sorry to everyone, if I had the choice I would've asked literally anyone else to take on the mantle instead of me, what with me having been nothing but a terrible person to many many people that had tried to help in whatever way they could. But I promise, the CA still has so much left in it to make a full recovery.
