IMPERIAL DECREE | The Nation Calls

Gedeon stood atop the polished bridge spanning between Grense and Alba, the mighty river running dark and sluggish, no longer choked with the bloated corpses of the reanimated dead or plagued by the raiding vessels of wild-heretics. It sat still, a silence not of peace, but of dread. That quiet was a wound. The fear that was found upon his allies' image being brought alive again. Only interrupted by the pain that lanced through his shoulders, barely dulled by the works of alchemists and medics. But in despite of his wounds, he stood proud.  The Empire had just risen, and it will not fall as swiftly as the nations it crushed under its boot.

The young Maya trudged through those muddied streets of the Karoslund, now almost entirely concealed beneath a blanket of heavy snowfall. There had been news, of her uncle's return from a battle fought amidst the ruins of New Valdev. Of chains and a mountain that was capable of shaking the very foundations of the earth itself. All things she had thought were mere stories, brought to life at her tender fourteen years.

No tears were shed, and no discussion of that dead kingdom was had beside the hearth that was so often kept alive within the Weiss homestead. Only talk of what they might do, to forestall this seemingly-indomitable foe. Just as Lady Erika had said, they could not hope to circumvent fate - those who tried, would find themselves tossed asunder.

They would persist, as always. Until the end.

It was on the eve of darkness on the outskirts of ruins of Valdev, the host of Man, headed by The Grand Knight of the Imperium and himself, Chaptermaster of the Black Dragon, Sir Arnault Honeywine, met with the Mountain's forces. It was there that the scale of the Daemon's Awakening was witnessed, and the harkening sounds of chains resounding the end of days.

It was there they were routed...

Sometime later...

"The descendants of Horen shall stand defiant against the apostate. It is in the almighty's light we shall rage against the darkness. And upon our spears shall a mountain be reduced to pebbles." Sir Arn Honeywine, Chaptermaster of the Black Dragon would comment before a hall of soldiers, "The Empire needs Heroes..."

A known religious zealot and supporter all iterations of the Empire of Man continues tinkering with various chunks of anorum dumped upon the deck of her ship.. The letter is read to her by a member of her crew. With a sigh, she readies herself for duty.

A Samurai steeples his fingers as he absorbs the Imperial Decree . . .

To the Shugo he would request that the
HANAZUKI DESTROYER  be sent to the Empire in an expeditionary capacity, for it was the most battle-hardened and slick of Scattered-Sun Steamers.

Hadrian August confusedly scratched his chin at the shot fired at Lotharia;

"Did we not rally for this exact purpose, like, quite literally today?"

Vivien looked to her pupils and fellow Mages as she nodded

“Rally the Magi!!!”

"And so my sons march to war"
A man says sitting at the head of a broken table, shards of crystal and glass being the only subjects he gazed upon as he looked over the ruined dining hall of his old Seat. Holy Ser Peter Rovare, the Count of Stirland, and a Father, looked at the portrait of his family, torn by the shrapnel of the Earthquake before he stands and leaves the room, going to sit upon the Oaken Throne and look upon the gathered folk, brought back to the injuries he had spent hours tending in the aftermath of the first attack.

"My people, my vassals, my friends, and my family. The Kaiser has called us to arms, for the safety and security not just of the Empire, but fir all of God's Domain. Let us show the spawn of hell, that the Banners of Stirland shall never fall" He says as he quietly wonders how many before him he had sentenced to death.

Lucrezia Rovare held close to her friend, and Bluecloak Page Aviel. Her leg held a dull ache of pain, bandaged from her earlier strife. She clasped onto the delivered Edict, growing faint as she read the words, the use of her legs leaving her as she crumpled to the ground - hand having fallen away Aviels arm. Her wound re-opened, but her worry was on her family, her friends. "Oh, my brothers.."  Her fear, it thudded against her throat, battling to escape.

Aviel's face went pale and was wrought with anxiety as he read the Imperial Edict over Lucrezia's shoulder. As the Highlander lad felt the Lady Rovare crumple and he dropped with her, holding her in a hopefully comforting embrace, not just her but himself as well. Not only would Lucrezia's brothers be sent to face this insurmountable threat, but himself as well.
"I'm gonna do m' best t' stay alive, I've got too much t' live fer. An' I'll try m' best t' make sure yer brothers an' pa make it out alive." The Helfgott told the noble girl, looking to her with his ocean-hued gaze. A storm of anxiety festered within his youthful orbs, yet there was a flicker of
COURAGE.

Aurus Greye blinked calmly as Karoslund and Lotharia caught petty strays in the missive. "If I was the Emperor of Man during the literal apocalypse I think I would focus on working together instead of spending my time slinging insults. We are all in this together, for better or for worse, and a mindset of unity will give us all a better chance of survival."

Hadrian Tiberias watched onwards as the imperial guard, and the dragon knights departed swiftly. His attention turned momentarily to his father, and then, out towards a great, unwinding map of the Empire.

“Ave Imperium.”

The Knight of Heaven, The Dawnservant, would look over the edict as he leaned against a wall within the borders of the Holy Imperium. His eyes looking over the missive several time before his hands shivered a bit before the black-armored knight recomposed himself and gave a soft sigh.

“Now is not the time to hide away from the world and focus solely on slaying the forces of Darkness. This entity threatens all Descendants and it is my duty to defend the innocent and pure souls of the Descendant tribes…”

He spoke to himself before pushing himself from the wall and made way to make his preparations.

The Malfeasant flames had reached the town of Stefanyov first. The destructive aftermath was evident from the smokes that rose above the highlands . It was there that He made a vow to uphold his oaths to the Emperor. After all, it was the imperium that came to his defense.
