Pum! 106 Share Posted October 20, 2012 My Thoughts: I actually kind of enjoyed the temp server. I wasn't no-RP killed or anything. I was RPing the whole way. I liked the.. Freedom of those 'You do not have permission for this area' messages. I mean, I completely understand their importance, but it was nice to be free for a bit. My Feelings: I think it was a nice dreamworld.. I mean, I was attacked by a baby Urlog. How fun is that? Very fun. Then I crawled after this 17 year old girl who had survival instincts, and we stayed at an abandoned shack. I had fun. =3 All in all, I think the main problems with the Dream World was the Non-RP killing, and some Non-RP builds. Other than that, it was nice in my opinion. Navin_ 99 Share Posted October 20, 2012 personally, I think that this adventure into the dream world was fun except for a few reckless people spawning large amounts of mobs just outside the spawn. Also regarding the plugins, banned users were able to join on the server, not as wandering souls (hope that gets fixed).
Salamandra 1136 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I think it was very pointless in the RP aspect, though it gave us something to do in the meantime.
ski_king3 0 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Eventually, there was a point when players kept ignoring the 30 minutes rule and returned to the fort, annoying the builders (which were given creative mode, not godmode) and GMs when in fact they were just trying to prepare an major event. Don't blame the Staff for things like this, there are always two parties involved... And about the random explosions: The first time, Tythus derped with a command, spawning way more TNT than intended. The times after that, GMs tried getting players out of the area. There were roleplay warnings shouted by me, everyone had enough time to leave the event area. GMs announced it as well, saying they'd kill everyone in the area if they would not leave. Those who didn't leave were blown up. I don't see the problem. I don't think the 30 minute rule is entirely valid when you can see the vast majority of the structure from where you spawn. There was no RP reason for my character not to return to the area, as my character believed it to be an Undead structure, something that he finds very interesting. Also, I completely said there were two parties involved. That was my entire part. I was saying the staff were equally at fault as players who were breaking rules, which I will completely stand by (albeit it was not the entire staff). As far as the GM's making announcements, I was only there for the beginning of the TNT-spree. However, I saw literally one warning in RP, and no GM announcements, and the RP warning was given less than a second before the TNT exploded. Also, did you see the TNT cloud? There is no way to explain that, regardless of GM warning. So yes, I will stand by what I said, the staff members who abused (perhaps that term is slightly too harsh, but if so, only slightly) their powers were just as much in the wrong as the players who broke rules.
Shorsand 2006 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Overall, i enjoyed the freedom. I enjoyed being able to pick apples on my own without filling out a damn application for a 20x20 plot of land. Seriously, whats next? Fun application? An application in which you must fill out to have fun? This is probably considered meta, but you can go to an area where you don't have destroy perms, and constantly 'break' one block of leaves until an apple comes, and the block doesn't disappear, so you can do this indefinitely. OT: I really enjoyed the world. I got to play as a pigman and undergo some nice RP, whilst exploring the world with my companion. I took many screenshots of the various establishments I visited, just in-case. There were also some very creepy places, such as the bleeding mine and the sandstone crosses, that those 'scary sounds' played constantly inside of. Very fun. Leafwind 38 Share Posted October 20, 2012 To be honest, when I logged into the server not knowing it was supposed to be a "dream world" I figured the admins had setup a normal free for all server. There was some amount of randoming and stealing, but I'm sure there was a lack of outright griefing due to the fact that some people, like me, weren't entirely sure if it was allowed. The sporadic buildings were a little painful to see because I prefer to see proper, functional buildings being built. I understand that everyone wants to have a home and the ability to mine and get rich, but this is an RP server. If you want to, find a server made specifically for that, but I guarantee that after awhile it won't be very much fun. For those of you who enjoyed the freedoms, I'm sorry, but the server would never work if everyone could do anything they wanted. With regions, only nice looking buildings are built, and the earth underneath me isn't hollow and mineral-less due to everyone on the map having a mine, and that's the way I like it. -To give you an example of the difference between outright freedom and our current charter system:If everyone had complete freedom, there would be no incentive for proper RP. Although I believe that some people should be allowed to be self-sufficient if they truly want to (meaning no skill limits), most players, unfortunately, are not as skilled as others, and this leads to a load of random, disfunctional, unRP, unappealing buildings, the exhaustion of resources, and a type of anarchic roleplaying which promotes a lot of powergaming. On the other hand, our current system promotes a more realistic atmosphere of hardwork and cooperation on a personal and communal level. Players develop specific skills in order to help themselves and others, and rely on the skills of other players in order to accomplish something they may not be able to do, such as building a nice looking home. A trading system also emerges from this as players may have to buy certain goods such as food from a farmer or tools from a blacksmith. As long as you like working with other people, this system is a lot more fun. Otherwise you can play singleplayer :)
Carcino 2 Share Posted October 20, 2012 What I like was that I could find m yway around and actually explore without a mondo city getting in my way, I took shelter in a abandoned hut with this guy named Hadulus, who was mysteriously turned into a pig man, and we explored miles apon miles until we came across these people, a girl named Arabelle, and a hooded blue figure and we had a event in this abandoned mineshaft where it was haunted and a gm forgot to take creative off one of us sso we had unlimited supplies and had a awesome event, sadly it was cut short when the server went offline :< And my guys main goal was to find a boat and find his way back to the mainland, since he had no clue why or how he got to the land which added to the intrresting elements of the temp server, to sum this all up I can only say, "MOAR TEMP SERVER PLS" :)

Mpana 40 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I logged on figured out what the nether was going on by chatting in ooc. I got to test out a new char skin. I met up with an rp friend, we went into the jungle, and set up an RP BASED camp. We made a tent like structure, gathered resources as if it were two elves camping in a jungle. I had a great time, I rped teaching him to farm a little. And he and my char had a training match (yes my character is actually TRAINING even without the skills plugin (it going bye bye made it much easier for me because I wouldn't die every time I tried to take on 1 mob)). In fact we even traded some leather with someone so he could stay in the tent till a storm passed so his armor wouldn't rust! It was great even when we had to stake out in a cave because of a dragon. Then my friend had to log off. I went outside and got no rp killed by _iCow_. I tried to solve it and he just said "It's a temp server." Other than that I had a great time I feel there are enough good rpers out there in our community that just want to rp. All I ask is that we have more of them. I mean seriously a guy giving us 16 leather so he could spare his armor from a storm and none existent rust. That just made my day! And then a no rp kill sorta ruined it. Oh well Three Cheers for all the great Rpers out there. Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
No_Mortale 54 Share Posted October 20, 2012 On the whole the 'dream' was really good. I found I made connections with players I would never have even considered RPing with. Everyone was placed on a level pane, and everyong was equal. It was definately 'fun' just being able to play a basic smp game with RP incorperated. The unnecissary PVP was a little annoying. But if its being RP'd as a dream, all that does is turn the dream into a 'nightmare'. On the whole it was a good experience. 1+
spymanx 2 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I loved it, I always wanted to have a bit more loose RP fun, I saw ruins of a building near the undead fort, and built (if anyone remembers it) Fort Frontline (YES I built it, I'm bloody proud of it!)my char's ego prompted her to go to the third floor and call the undead an idiot and brag about how my fort was better than his. (He proceed to blow it up, but within the hour it was back to it's former self now with 20% fire and obsidian...) Then he blew it up again, but this time I had a team help me put it back together! It was so much fun to RP protecting the fort. I LOVED IT, I wouldn't change the whole server, as it is awesome as it is, but hey, it probably wouldn't hurt to do more events like this in the future. RIP: Fort Frontline, you were the best reinforced fort ever. ~spymanx AKA Ayrallen
spymanx 2 Share Posted October 20, 2012 That's what makes LotC RP better then, say, Massivecraft, or those other light RP servers. We are extremely strict on EVERYTHING, which is waaaaaaay better then this 'Ok here is a big land now go do stuff kthxbai'. And, you must of been in the wrong places in those last few weeks of LotC. Meh, I had fun, I enjoy the hardcore RP (and I had a bit of it in the tempsever) BUT I was in the main area and it wasn't loads of no rp killing, just 2-3 idiots...well being idiots. I was never no RP killed, and set up a giant fort (fort Frontline baby) to act as a safehaven for fighters near the undead fortress, and eventually we had archers up on the roof and people running in and out trying to hold the line, epic, all I can say. LordOctopus 8 Share Posted October 21, 2012 For some reason, it was always nighttime for me, and I got killed by bandits and skeletons at least a dozen times. Eventually, I got tired of the no-rp killings, so I just left. I also never was able to find my way to any forts.
