On the one hand, I totally agree that having no autoshops and forcing shopowners to RP all transactions would be splendid and allow for a lot of RP. In reality, the logistics make this extremely difficult. Asulon is just too big for there to be that many shops that are being staffed more or less constantly. Would it be nice to know that there's a tavern in Arethor that you can always buy lots of bread from, or a nice shop in Normandor always selling lots of arrows? Of course, but reality is that these are extremely rare. They were more common in Aegis and worked in tandem with the autoshop plugin.

In short, I definitely want autoshops returned. While there are drawbacks I feel that overall the benefits are far greater. Although, there are a few things I'd be cautious of. First, can we please do actual RP with autoshops? I know it feels silly to RP with an NPC shopkeeper, but the alternative is to run in, type some commands and leave, which is highly unrealistic. As well, I'd hope that the autoshops be tested extensively so that the issues with all previously used autoshops are resolved.

Good point, I suppose you're right, although isn't 3.0 supposed to be more similar to Aegis size? Either way, good points, I was playing Devil's advocate a bit as well. I just don't want to see RP in trade disappear, as I felt there was next to none when I first joined the server with the shop plugin.

One positive thing I see though is that tavern RP might make a comeback, which would be nice.

(in reply to everblue) Yes. I think it needs to be like the banking system. Like you walk in, talk to the shopkeeper, he asks if you want to buy, listing the prices and items and amout of each item, you say the item, he asks how many, you give a number. the end.

I know, for an idiot I'm briliant.

I like the idea a lot, but 500 Mina's seems too cheap. We'd see shops everywhere at that price. Also, maybe a nation specific thing could be added? So that you have to travel to a specific nation to buy a specific thing.

This is almost exactly the same plugin as the old shop plugin on Aegis. This isn't a new idea, but much, much better.

Would this be compatible with a physical currency plugin if one was recoded and implemented?

I wonder how possible it would be to code a shop to do bartering? Say you wish to trade 9-12 iron ingots for a diamond.

If a physical currency was introduced it would be compatible, yes. The shop owner earnings would be put into a chest inside the shop by the plugin, rather than sent to them directly.

It seems like you did put effort on it, great plugin but I'd stick with region based one! Great Job anyways! :P

Personally, I'd like to only have certain shops able to buy items FROM players, perhaps a GM has to add the capability, and the shop owner in question has to provide good, solid reason WHY their shop should do so.

Personally, I think the vast majority of shops SHOULD NOT be able to be sold to, players should only be able to buy FROM them. The exception to this in my eyes is perhaps having shops specifically set up by a City Leader to buy materials like logs, stone, food, etc from it's citizens, so it can somewhat automate giving payment to city workers.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't see why you would limit the idea of selling to a shop as the Shop keeper is Role-playing as a shop keeper so it would make no RP sense that you couldn't sell to a Shopkeeper although I do see peoples issues with it.

After reading the post and looking at the bubble ideas thing can you please include add <item> <amount> <price>. Because when buying thing like arrows you don't want to be buying arrows one at a time or watermelon or stacks of cobble, you will be wanting to buy/sell these in bulk.

Also is there anyway of adding groups. For example when you go into a shop and they have 3 pages of items like back in Aegis it was annoying to find the item you need and often missed the item. Is there a way you could do like /shop browse and then it could come up with various groups that they can create so if you had a shop with lots of different foods and Armour you could name a group after these so when people do /shop browse it would show these two groups and then would do /shop browse Gear or /shop browse consumables. In shops you find the games in one section, clothes and food in all different section as it clearer to see. This would act in the same way.
