The Disapearance of a Wizard

The Wizard Blundermore sat quietly in his study as he thought to himself, sprawled out before him on the table was numerous contraptions and chalks, books and quills, dried ink and papers, an utter sty of a place. Smells and smoke filled the air as he smoked from his pipe, looking over the mess before him. His research notes and all. His staff, long, and Gold, with a profound blue Orb atop, sat beside him, as did his satchel. Leaning quietly on the table before him.
The room around, was dark, past the candles that sat apon the table. no windows of any kind lined his study. There he sat, apon his seat, mulling and mumbling. Scratching his long, whited beard and chin.

For many months he had spent planning and researching, practicing within his tower a spell of his own design, and after all of those long months, it was finally ready.
But something kept the Wizard rooted to his chair, as he sat, smoking away to himself. Fear was staying himself from movement, for he always feared what new spells might bring. Ever since the spell of trying to turn stone to wine, and ended up with some horrible gunk that proceeded to eat half his library, he was weary of spell crafting.

Finally however, he found his resolve, standing up, he took chalk and quill in hand, and walked into a prepared clearing in his study. Drawing symbols apon the floor of all manner of arcanic design. Strange symbols of strange beasts and stars, unnerving to stare at for long dotted the floor in a circle. Before too long he was finally finished, taking materials in hand, he started to dot the outside of the circle with charcoal, salt and gemstones.

Taking a bowl of strange, blue viscous like gloop, he placed it in the centre of this strange circle of his own design. This strange bowl had its’ own history, for it was part of long preparation prior to this, months before, within the kitchen of the kingdom of  Eyveror, at the objection of a now scarred guard for what he saw in that kitchen apon that day.

Standing back up, he inspected the circle once more, checking that everything was in place.

“Everything must be perfect.”

He said in a low mull term to himself

“I can’t make mistakes now.”

following the circle around again and again, he realigned, repositioned and re-etched that to which caught his eye, until finally, once more, he stood back up.

“That should do it... yes yes...”

Clasping his hands together in a clap, he rubs them before turning, taking staff in hand, he turns, straightening himself and dusting his robes clean as he peered to the bowl that sat before him within the circle strange.

Finally, he starts to mumble, tapping his staff on the floor, a thump is heard as the room vibrates violently from the sudden tap. The room, begins to grow darker, the candles flicker in the gloom as winds pick up within the study. Papers rustle as they try to escape from under their restraints of other items apon the table.
The room begins to grow cold, the candle light, dimmers, struggling to keep alive within the inhospitable study, ice can be seen crawling up the legs of the study table as the winds continue to rise. A howl and a torrent fills the room, but ever still did the wizard stay, standing firm with staff in hand, mumbling to himself ever more.
Atop his staff, the Blue Orb grew in light, lighting up the recesses of the room, and basking all within it, casting long and sharp shadows far beyond the tops of the walls.
But still stood the wizard, unaltered from the change in the room. His eyes closed shut as his voice starts to grow.
Louder and louder it became, vibrations ran around the room as torrents of wind and all continued to circle the room like a crazed predator.
With the Roar of a terrible creature, a light, no, multiple lights shot from the staff in hand, hitting the gems and all apon the floor, cracking them and shattering them in an instance.

Books fell from the shelves of the study as he continued, the light, arked, and shot, hitting the sides of the tower walls, scorching the sides as it went, until finally, the arking shots hit the bowl itself, shooting it halfway across the room and into a bookshelf like a bowling ball hitting pins.

The winds, started to recede, and the vibrations dimmed, the room went gloom, but remained cold.
The wizard himself, opened his eyes, as the room gloomed, looking around the room he saw where the bowl had landed. Walking towards it, his staff tapped away, the room, still vibrating away in a low drum as the cold bit his skin. Sweat tried to manifest apon his brow, but froze the moment they reared themselves from it. Walking over to the bowl in the gloom, he slowly leant down to pick it up in hand, looking at it for a moment, he took it back over to the study table. Placing it down apon it and resting his staff next to it.
The room continued to hum and drum as the vibrating continued around the room.
Setting the bowl down, he leans down to it with his hooked nose, to sniff it, before too long, he sees that the bowl’s contents have turned pink.

Inspecting the bowl, he finally resolves himself to stick his finger into the bowl of viscous pink content, gloopy and lumpy it was, he takes his finger out, paste like almost was the pink glop apon the end of his finger. Placing it into his mouth he chews it for a bit before swallowing, and smiling.

“YES! Finally! I’ve made Ghast flavoured Custard!”

He dips his finger within the bowl again, as scoops another portion out to eat, not noticing that the room, continued to hum, worse still, the hum, was growing.

Behind him, a small ball had raised. A small ball of light. Brighter and brighter it got, lighting up the room in a blue glow. The Wizard noticing the rising light as he looked up from his bowl, slowly turned, to see this ball getting larger and larger in size.

Squinting at it to shade his eyes, he slowly wipes his hand apon his robe before getting up to get a better look at what was going on.

“How odd...”

He said as he swallowed the last of his pink Ghast Custard in a shallowed voice.

He slowly approaches the blue orb before him as it gets larger and larger still. The heat coming from it melted the ice around it as it grew in size. Before finally it came to a pause.
With that, the Wizard, also came to a pause.

“What are you suppose to be then...?”

He asks to himself, as he scratches he beard, resorting to simply staring at the blue Orb.
The room slowly started to get quieter and quieter, as he continued to stare at the light.

Suddenly, a sound shot from it, “WOOSH!” it emanated, as the ball started to collapse in apon itself. Lightning started to buzz from it as it seemed to fade into a deep dark hole in the centre. The room slowly started to buzz with sounds as things slowly started to draw near it.

The Wizard, surprised, fell backwards on heel with a thump and a yelp. Seeing what was happening to the room, he turned to his table and the bowl. Quickly getting to his feet, he shouts in a distraught tone;

“MY RESEARCH NOTES!”

Running to the table, he tries to push it back, seeing papers trying to fly from the table as he pushes he resorts to placing his elbows on them to stop it.

As he pushed, the orb continued to pull things towards it, books fell off the shelves as all manner of objects were flung into the air. Being pulled closer to the orb as a maw formed within it.

The Wizard continued to struggle with his table mumbling to himself as he went to try and save his precious research notes.

“This isn’t good, this isn’t good at all!”

Looking frantically over to his shoulder, he almost jumped out of his skin to what he saw in the middle of the room.

Turning back around again he shouts even louder;

“THIS ISN’T GOOD! THIS IS VERY-VERY BAD!”

Crashes and snaps can be heard, shots and sounds and whooshes and all flung around the room, as the maw started to suck things into it, books went flying from their shelves as paintings and maps, notes and all were sucked straight into the portal.

Quills flew off the table that the wizard was pushing as he tried ever so hard to save his research, the bowl, started to wobble as it went, it too flying off the table and straight into the maw of the portal.

“Nooo!”

He says with a dishearted voice as he peers over his shoulder to see it fling straight into the maw.
By now, the sound was almost deafening to hear as he continued to struggle with the table. Papers of all types were now flying off his table with the rest of the room’s contents as he went. An inkwell flew up and hit him in the face, splattering ink all over him as he went, reeling from the blow, he falls to the floor, spitting as he lands. Wiping the ink from his face with his sleeve, he watches as the table slides from atop, the legs grinding apon the floor without any help from anything visible.
Getting up, he rushes to the table, now behind it, pulling it back from the maw of the portal that now lay in full swing before him. Trying ever so hard to stop it from taking it.

“No! NO! Not the table! NOT THE TABLE!”

His grasp slips from the table as it is flung into the maw.

“Aww, no... that was a present from Aunt Sophe-”

He notices that his own robes started to be pulled, and he felt himself slipping along the floor. Turning, he sees his staff and satchel apon the floor, struggling, he runs to them, grabbing them from the floor before trying to grab a post of his study.

Slowly his legs start to be lifted from the floor as the portal continues to rage in the centre of the room. Holding on for dear life he went as the portal tries to pull him in as well.
Looking at the portal he curses under his breath.

“Bloody Bouldering Blizzards! This isn’t good”

He continues to hold on as the post slowly begins to snap. Looking up to it, he whimpers slightly, staff and satchel still in hand.

“This isn’t good”

The post breaks, and he is flung into the portal’s maw.

“THIS ISN’T GOOD AT AAAAAALLLL!”

The sound of his voice echos as he is pulled into the portal, staff and satchel all. All goes silent as a final crack is heard, before the portal collapses in apon itself. Leaving the room dark to all, with nothing left in the study past empty bookcases.

Where the wizard went, is unknown. But the tower, now stands empty and silent once more.
