Orc Rp Reforms

Something I'm also a bit iffy about is the whole "Shamans resurrecting orcs" thing. It seems kind of weird that they share this ability with the monks. I don't actually know if this is still around or not, but I think it's a bit over the top.

Other than that, there is something I'd enjoy seeing. I'm not sure if one actually exist, but I was curious as to whether orcs have some kind of religion of their own? I think it would be kind of neat to see that if there isn't one already.

On that note, the whole Monks thing is iffy at best. Almost no lore as to why everyone can live their head being cut up, touche.

We've been given mixed signals on whether or not we can be healed by our own but at one point we had our own spawn, however something happened to it. In my opinion there is no reason that the shamans couldn't and there is a branch of shamanism partially dedicated to healing, so I believe we could be healed by them over the monks, and it would make more sense in my opinion, since we despise the humans. An argument put forth was what if a monk was an Orc, it doesn't help, they'd be a whitewash and we'd hate them even more so.

To answer your question, our religion is hardly used and its rather sad. We're hoping to revive it in 3.0 and I myself and a few other Orcs will be making or learning shamanism in order to try and aid in reviving it.

I like Orcs. I think they're neat. I've always wanted to play one but I just don't know where to start or know anyone who plays an Orc that'd help me ease into things. I also think that speaking blah is fun, just as any accent is or can be, and adds a lot.

I think some of the problems fall on both sides:

You got most of the playerbase thinking their 25-30 year old, semi-inexperienced human is going to be able to out fight ANY Orc. That's a no-no. I would suspect that most Orcs spend their day training combat prowess in some way. It's just not going to happen.

But then I see a lot of people saying that "No, Orcs are the BEST fighters/warriors! Unbeatable!" Which I also think is bad. I think Orcs should use OOC judgement and know when to lose. I'm not saying you have to lose to every single person, but that well-known Elven or Dwarven warrior who has spent 90% of their life training and fighting should pose a very dangerous threat to most, if not all, Orcs. Of course, this is all for RP fights.

I don't like the fact that some Orcs run away in wars. Yes, I understand that it's okay in lore. Yes, I understand that Orcs are not dumb nor a hivemind. I just don't like it. When I picture Orcs In battle, I picture few against many. Hulking, armored behemoths ready to just tear into the enemy lines all while showing no fear and bellowing at the top of their lungs. I think you (and your Orcs) should go into battle knowing that they'll be revived by their Shamans/monks and that you'll only end up losing a few items.

Honestly, I think losing a set of armor and a sword is much better than giving people the idea (ooc and otherwise) that Orcs are cowards and that they run from fights if it's looking bad.

Better to instil into your enemies the notion that Orcs mean business. That they will fight to the last man and to the full extent of their energy. That they WILL mess up your forces if you do not think strategically.

Hell, back in Aegis, I was always scared to roam into Orc territory when I wasn't on a character that was able to fight. And, even if I was on a skilled fighter, I made sure that my character was still polite to Orcs. Best not anger them and force a fight that might not be winnable. Now? Not so much. They don't demand fear and respect that they once did, at least in my eyes.

Of course, I've never played an Orc and I'm not sure if I ever will, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

-snip-

Playing an Orc isn't about winning or keeping items, like you said with the armor thing, it is about enjoying RP.

We win 1 battle for every 2 or 3 we fight (that is recent Elysuim stats). It is still fun to lose, as I loved being chased through my own mines by 7 Oren peasant levies knights. When we win, it is a pretty awesome feeling if we just lost a few battles prior.

Orcs do train a lot. PvP klomps (fights in Orcish) are considered training to me. I klomp around 2-8 times a day. I am all for losing a fight to a good rp-er who's character makes sense to win. Heck, I once lost to 5 humans, 3 with crossbows and 2 with swords, because I felt like it and Oren was dead with excitement.

If you do play an Orc, I strongly suggest getting on TS. It will make a big difference, helping you excell in learning our culture better and quicker.

I have a few opinions, if I may state them after being gone so long and because of the fact I plan on making an Orc myself relatively soon.

From past experiences, I've noticed that alot of Orc players seem to act rude, trolly, and all around obnoxious OOC. I know this is not a roleplay problem, but I feel that it should be brought up and dealt with.

I think there needs to be a certain exception for murder in regards to Orcs. I feel that the Villain application restrains Orcs to roleplay to our full potential. If we are to properly roleplay our curse, we must give in to our bloodlust, and not be restrained by some application. While I realize this may be a problem for some, I simply mean only excluding unprovoked murder for Orcs. As far as Zealotry, cannibalism  assassinations go, keep them for all races. I simply think time and again Orcs are hindered by this barrier. (I have been off for quite some time, and not fully upto date on what all the happenings were when I was gone, so if I missed something involving this (Not minor VAs), please let me know.

I feel that some Orcs must display they ARE intellegent. I've seen far too many troll-y, idiotic Orcs in my time of LotC, and I frankly think it shines a bad light on us. People tend to view us as dumb brutes who can only swing an axe or hammer, but as far as anything else goes, we're useless.

I'm sure this has been stated before, but I feel that Orcs must roleplay their bloodlust properly. While i've already stated that VAs get in our way, the problem is also on us. I've seen plenty of Orcs who never succumb to their bloodlust, ever, when they should. I've seen one Orc get the snot beaten out of him by an ELF, and the Orc not only stood there, but didn't get angry... Now, you may argue that perhaps the Orc isn't that bright, or that the Orc is good at controlling their bloodlust... But honestly, I feel that if an ORC is being beaten by and ELF, the Orc would go ape-shart and rip off the Elf's face.

Just my two minas.

Orc players rude & trolly OOCly? Not anymore. I try to stop these unnecessary issues and the horrible attitudes amongst the Orcs if there are any, especially around new players. If this is an issue then feel free to PM me on TS or Forums with details of what happened. At the end of the day we want to attract people to our race not divert them away.

Orc's dumb & stupid/trolly? Yeah, we are. It ties in well with some characters and not with others. I personally RP my character as a serious Orc who barely laughs and is always focused so you never see him divert his attention easily. Others do joke around with other races which will be dealt with in 3.0 with my new post Orcs of Anthos. The new honor code would hope to solve this.

Bloodlust? Bloodlut does need to be RPed correctly as does the honor code. I yesterday when before I executed someone was asked for an honor klomp. Now this guy was just on our lands and tried to claim to be an Orc (He was a Human) so I had to deal with it but when he said he wanted to klomp, it showed valiance and honor on his part so my character respected it and accepted the klomp as I lowered my sword from his neck. So to RP bloodlust correctly, you must RP honor correctly first in order for it to work properly. Otherwise bloodlust on its own can be abused for RP/OOC gain.

Thanks for your input and I've noted some of the things you said that we need to work on.

Because everyone in the entire goddamn nation is a feeble minded shithead who can't keep their cool for over ten seconds.  I miss the badasses I once stood in rank with.  I feel completely alienated from the scraps lefts behind by the giants of our time.  I don't see any aspiring legends, or honorable kin.  It's just a bunch of crap now and I really have no drive to participate in it anymore.

Yep.

I have to disagree. Although I'm sure the more whole orcs don't, most are in it for loot, not RP. A large amount of the orcs I have met treat the place as a PVP server...

I'm sure there's many orcs who feel more into RP, but so many are just PVPing idiots who don't have much care for RP if it doesn't give the an advantage of some kind. Why? Because they're orcs, they don't care! The name "orc" in every ones minds equal big, ugly, savage. So people become big ugly savages, and it just isn't fun..

This criticism is not very contructive, just complaining and being rude and such, calling us "idiots".

Who are you calling PVPing idiots? have you even been around the Orcs to make such assumptions? this is a suggestion threat not a flaming threat. We don't care about loot or items, we just had a battle with 70+ humans/dwarves against 12 Orcs and then 120+ Humans/Dwarves vs 30 Orcs. We don't give a **** about loot or items, we do it for fun. If you're going to make negative comments you can get the hell out of this thread. I'm not going to tolerate such bullshit and flame on my thread.

One problem I would like to bring up is the Blah. I feel that new players struggle to understand what we're saying, and avoid Orcs normally. I remember the first time I roleplayed with an Orc, I had a horrible time. Not because of the Orc himself, but the Blah was just damn near impossible to understand. We should somehow make it easier for people to learn the Blah, or make it easier for newbies to understand somehow. Now, i'm not suggesting taking away the Blah at all, but somehow making it easier to understand. I don't know how... But just a thought.
