Pumpkinspice Mead

8133117147_7187337724_z.jpg

---

A relatively weak alcoholic beverage, it is commonly brewed around the Elven and Halfling settlements, sometimes sneaking its way into Oren by trade. It is made using the inside of pumpkins during the fermentation period along with other favored spices and herbs by the brewer, almost always including fresh honey. It has a very sweet and creamy pumpkin-like flavor but also a hidden alcohol aftertaste, similar to that of beer. However, the longer it sits, the more tart it gets. It has a dark orange tint to it and it has a considerable amount of froth. To preserve flavor, it is best kept in barrels, corked bottles or other dark, sealed means of storage. It is best served chilled, however some prefer it room temperature or even lukewarm. It is often served with roasted pumpkin seeds as a snack in taverns.

Effects on the body? None, really. It of course has the potential to make one buzzed or fully intoxicated (and the person would suffer from all the regular effects of intoxication from alcohol), but as a very mild alcoholic beverage, it would be uncommon to see one suffer from alcohol poisoning strictly due to consumption of it.

Price? As there is nothing particularly special about it (besides maybe the unique taste), it would be fairly cheap. The ingredients can be grown by even a novice farmer, however the making of it would still take a talented brewer.

Willowswamp Whiskey

The Willowswamp Whiskey is a taint whiskey from the swamp areas near Lenfarthing. Water from the swamps, mushrooms, fermented wheat, and some frogs (Not toads) make the Whiskey stronger than most, but reducing it's overall flavor and quantity. Boiling the brew and then letting sit in a barrel of a swamp tree (this is also such the like of Vodka) for 1-2 weeks allows the Whiskey to develop the taste of the wood. A last point to add is Gun Powder, giving a terrible taste (almost like drinking metal) but a kick like no other.

as last, this is only found in Lenfarthing, or wherever Halfling roam.

Bootstrap Grog

  • Originally distilled somewhere in the slums Oren's capital
  • Thick, creamy, and smacks of old salted leather.
  • Potent, but slow to act. "It'll drag you to the floor by your bootstraps."
  • Upon imbibing such filth, you shall experience a gradual raising of spirits and vigor...
  • ...followed by a steady downfall of acuity and wakefulness.
  • Flavored with grass dew and water filtered through soil, or whatever those poor bastards suck on for sustenance these days.
  • It's rumored that whoever brews it, wrings the rainwater from bootstraps into the mixture.
