OOC: This is not a race proposal, just a creature. Unless you wish to make it a race.

Background

Days go by in Lenfarthing, and the halflings go about their buisness, much like any day. Also like any day, they steer clear of the Witch Woods. Why? Because odd and dark things boil and fester inside those trees. And now, another creature, formed feral and wild by the Woods, has begun to make itself known.

What is it?
The Man-Frog. Frogs have croaked their way around Anthos for many years. They are a commonplace sight. Sitting near lakes and rivers, eating flies, and making noise. But a combination of spores of the giant mushroom, the Witch Wood's diseased water, and a genetically mutated frog has formed a grotesque, humanoid frog. For years, they have stayed in their birthplace. Alone. Content.

About The Man-Frog
The Man-Frog is much like other frogs. It shares a taste for flies, and must keep it's skin hydrated. But a few key differences separate it from the common frog. The Man-Frog usually does not eat flies for a full dietary staple. They are too small. So the Man-Frog has grown accustomed to "borrowing" food from the intelligent races. It has a taste for meat, especially pork. It also has a few food oddities as well. The Man-Frog shys away from potatoes, most likely from their ability to grow poisonous. The Man-Frog will also eat carrots in an odd way. It will bite the exact center, and take about a 5th, and throw the rest away. The Man-Frog has a few fears as well. Among these are heights, lack of air, and deep water. The Man-Frog recoils at the sight of beige, and is attracted to turquoise. The Man-Frog also enjoys soaking itself in water, leaving it's head above. The Man-Frog has a purple tounge, and is capable of stretching it to three fold the length of a regular frog.

Communication
The Man-Frog has formed relationships with the creatures in it's area. It gets along with spiders, and enjoys thir company. The Man-Frog has also developed a bitter rivalry with the skeleton for shade, and runs from zombies, due to their hostiliy and bitter taste. The Man-Frog also enjoys a symbiosis relationship with the wolves. They live in mutualism, with the wolves providing warmth in the winter, and the Man-Frog's slimy and wet skin providing coolant for the wolves in the harsh summer days. The Man-Frog usually lives with three wolves. The Man-Frog also gets along with most beign animals, not making the connection for pork, beef, and chicken.

Reproduction
The Man-Frog reproduces asexually, which allowed it to procreate from the first one. Man-Frogs can only give birth once per year, and only with three months nourishment beforehand. This means not many give birth in their entire lifespan. Man-Frogs do not have maternal or paternal instincts, caring for their young for twelve hours, before shooing them to care for themselves again. Man-Frogs will retreat under water at the sight of any intelligent race, due to their fear of them outweighing their fear of lack of air. This is why you will not see them.

Digestive System
The Man-Frog has a poly-gastric digestive system, consisting of three stomachs. These stomachs help account for the lack of teeth. The first stomach is a dark green, the inside lined with rough tissue, to break down the food in a preliminary fashion. The food moves to the second stomach, where any and all new gastric-acid flows. The acid finishes breaking down the food, and goes with it to the third stomach. The third and final stomach drains the acid, to recycle it into new acid. The food is pumped into the duodenum, which releases water into the food. The water is laced with a chemical that absorbs the nutrients, and is drained in the lower intestine. The food is then passed into the colon.

Nervous System
The Man-Frog has a rather different nervous system. When the first cells are produced, they are completely inactive. When the frog hydrates it's skin, the cells respond, and awaken. This is the need for hydration. The Man-Frog's muscular system depends on the nervous system to function, so it would not if the nervous system was shut down. Therefore, the Man-Frog would be unable to move if it were dry. The Man-Frog's brain send's a signal to every part of the body, regardless of location of need. This accounts for the Man-Frog's entire body movements. If you were to say, stab it in the shoulder, it's foot would respond.

Endocrine System
The Man-Frog produces most of the same hormones as humans, yet have adapted to form new ones. One such hormone is an emergecny hydration. If the Man-Frog's skin becomes dry, this hormone will be produced, and will hydrate the skin long enough for most of them to find water. Another hormone they have gained is a supercharged adrenaline compound. When in danger, a form of adrenaline flows, giving them the strength to knock out a full grown man with a slap. They are also given the ability to run at around 26 mph.

Cell Layout
The Man-Frog does have similar cells to humans. Their cells do have a nucleus, and lysosomes, vacoules, mitochondria, and a membrane. The odd thing is they have no cytoplasm. The organelles are packed together by a specially tough and adhesive membrane. The cells also have an organelle called meracahe, or balance in elven. The function of this organelle is to maintain equilibrium.

Habits
The Man-Frog has grown many odd habits over the years, such as using stolen and lost wheat to ferment their own alcohol. They enjoy intoxication, and seem to suffer no hangovers or headaches. They also rub mushrooms on their feet webbing. This is most likely to get spores on it, which were the cause of their existence in the first place.

Habitat

The Man-Frog will often live above ground, in a mud puddle or something. When communing in groups, they will dig out caves, and store food, and talk in their guttural language. They will often live with their wolves, and lie in the mud all day. They make their mud so water directly flows into their puddle. Basin-like terrain is a common place for their puddles. Their puddles are extremely fickle when it comes to temperature. During really cold days, the Man-Frog will not even touch it's puddle, due to it either being frozen, or a burning cold. The Man-Frog will huddle with the wolves, and gather warmth. It will jump in water every so often, but keeps it to no less than that. It only lives with wolves on cold days.

The Plea

The Plea is a communication effort made by the Man-Frog as a cry for help. It will issue this over things such as uneven temperatures without shelter or wolves, lack of food, lack of moisture, or help with wounds. If ignored, the Man-Frog will become offensive to everyone and anyone it sees. This only applies to humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, kharajyr, halflings, and any magic users. It will not attack passive animals, and will go full offensive on any enemies as well.

Defense

The Man-Frog has learned to make small traps to keep itself safe. It will construct a crude wooden bear trap, based off the designs it has seen, and will throw it in front of charging enemies. Otherwise, the Man-Frog will resort to it's super adrenaline. It will grab anything sharp and stab with enormous force and speed. If it is hungry for a long time, and does not receive help after the Plea, it will resort to an offensive attack.

Health

the Man-Frog is usually a healthy creature, and has built immunities to any and all water borne diseases. The reason for this immunity is their being born in diseased waters. THay are particularly succeptible to many land diseases. They often are born with Hypoglycemia, and can get certain forms of Plague. They are otherwise very unlikely to contract any diseases.

Language
The Man-Frog speaks in no learned tongue. Some discerned words are
Thh - Hello
Thhbt - Goodbye
Phbt - Wolf
Grr - I'm angry

The Man-Frog usually communicates through actions, and challenge poses. There are eight recorded words, only half of which have a known meaning.

Doesn't seem to harm anything. Sounds weird as heck, but it could be fun!

What I think needs work is more habititat. They are mutated humanoid things, but they still need somewhere to live. Do they have a gross underwater burrow? Do they have a tiny cave? A mushroom fort? A tree top canopy. I like a gross burrow, worms wriggling through the walls, soggy carpet way, mud slathered everywhere. I could help build it. It could be under the river area in Witch Woods.

I think (like you said) it would be nice if the man frog was just a single mutated creature and there was only one of them. Other than that it sounds pretty cool and reminds me of the old fish-man thing that lived in the took river. Hopefully it'll provide some good -if a little odd- rp!

It was going to be just one creature, but I thought ut'd be cool if Salm was kidnapped by a community of them Cause thats where he is.

Still, habitat! Lets make an underwater gross burrow for it/them to live in!

We'd need an area regioned/given perms to us

edit: plus, they aren't frog halflings. The burrow would have had to be built beforehand for them to move into
