Nice one Telanir, although I feel that the restrictions on how many times a day you can do these two are a bit unrealistic and should be increased a bit I still think this will make the RP much easier and less PG

There is one thing. How are you supposed to train in these professions if you can only try them 3 times per day?

Slowly. And you can only lockpick three times per day, you can also pickpocket to train thievery, they are not individual skills.

Ahh. Didn't  catch that part.

Ugh.

Anything involving a MC way to steal items from people seems bad to me. I like automatic lockpicking a lot, but pickpocketing... is bad. With 1a being a minor evil and everyone having ready access to it, I feel I'm just gonna get bombarded with pickpocket attempts, and people MCly stealing stuff.

I like that people can't MC run, but I feel it's still so easily abusable.

Wah, wah, wah. You realise we are playing Minecraft right?

I as well would rather we don't allow people with 1a be able to pickpocket, perhaps a new va is in order or add it into 1b: Lockpicking, Breaking and Entering.

I plan on dealing with the issue of mass pickpocketing in the following way - if someone pickpockets me, and they are caught, my deranged villain will likely draw his dagger and stab at the pickpocket viciously.

At the very least, he would hunt down and kill the pickpocket for trying.

Pick-pockets that run around pick-pocketing and getting caught will just be dealt with accordingly in-game. Either run them down or take it as a loss. Players will need to be more wary of their surroundings and suspicious of those that close in on them. You're also only losing a single, light weight item at a time. Nothing game-breaking, even if you get hit multiple times.

There should be some way to deflect the pick-pocketing attempt though. For example, if you're looking at the thief within a 90 degree sector of frontal vision or if you turn around and spot them as they're setting up for or in the midst of the pick-pocketing, perhaps that should result in a failed attempt and alert you. I would hate to think that a common thief would be able to pick your pockets using game mechanics while you're looking right at them with a sword in your hand, aware of their every move.

I haven't yet figured out a way to do that, but maybe if the thief has to crouch to initiate, and then a few swirl effects pop up around them and you notice this, then you can shift-click them and, well, spot them, making it a failed attempt.
