Also, about pickpocketing Minas...

Yup haha, don't worry about it. I've got that covered.

Wah, wah, wah. You realise we are playing Minecraft right?

I'd rather not have my important RP items snatched up with no RP by hundreds of people who walk around pickpocketing to get stuff.

Pickpocketing should be handled in RP where both parties can consent to what gets stolen, and nobody loses something important to their RP in an RPless way.

Villains are not supposed to be villains for their own personal conquests. That's written right there in the VA rules, and I think a plugin that allows people with 1a, which is easy to get, to at any time go and try to steal from someone's MC inventory, will go against that.

Not to mention that we'll have people throwing fits about how "It's not RPly in my inventory" and all of that foolery. I say pickpocketing as a plugin is more trouble than it's worth.

Got "important rp items"? The solution is simple, keep them in your hotbar. (read OP about effects)

Something in your "ooc inventory"? Well, that's against the rules in the first place so too bad. You were a fool. xD

As for roleplay pickpocketing... You've got to understand that it doesn't happen. I've never seen anyone legitimately run around trying to roleplay a pickpocket, why is that? Because you getting caught is in the other players hands, and what you get also is.

In a fair environment, there is no need for a plugin and this is a good scenario, but in this case we are assuming nobody will consent their items to you, and will 9 times of out 10, catch you in the act.

Needless to say, pickpocket roleplay is very scarce these days, by adding a plugin where you are caught, there will be this kind of roleplay. It won't be as rampant of a thing as you think, the consequences are dire, and plus, we get /some/ form of pickpocketing. Something that rarely happens on LotC.

By utilizing a plugin we are also able to limit how good you are at it, and not everyone can become an instant pickpocket-master. You'd have to train your skill. ^-^

Hopefully I've answered all questions adequately, if there's something I'm missing feel free to ask. :)

What about breaking locks?

No, sorry. I couldn't figure out a way to make it fair.

Breaking a lock doesn't exactly require skill, and neither is it really hard. People would just choose to break locks all the time.

But isn't that why it currently requires 19 or higher instead of 15? Couldn't something similar be added, so more people can hear it (say default 32 blocks) and requires a higher roll?

Indeed, breaking a lock can be something rather loud. Shouting distance, in fact.

Well sure haha, why not. Small chance of breaking a lock that remains the same no matter your skill in lockpicking, and if you fail then the chest goes on a global 24 hour cooldown, and people within shouting radius (64 blocks) will hear you.

That will surely be enough downside to the feature, but still leave it usable.

Wonderful, thanks for the responses!

So you will be implementing breaking and entering? Shall it be influenced by the race, for example an orc being able to break things easier. Like it should be in RP.

Also, what about tossing chests down cliffs etc, to smash them open and salvage ores etc. I've used that before and I still plan on using it in the future, plugin or no plugin.

And last thing, I assume that the roll chance for breaking chests will remain at 17?

Rofl, you gotta be kidding me. Throwing a chest down a cliff with a plugin. No I can't do that. xD

Roll for breaking chests will most likely be the same, yeah.

When a player fails pick pocketing maybe a message could be given to them that if they run they can be PvPed?

Lock-breaking could be handed out the same as lock-picking. Players would just need to specify in their VA that they are breaking locks and would require a combination of both lock-picking and breaking and entering. Perhaps there could be a sledgehammer item or an axe required that would function similar to lock-picking tools, just to keep the ability tool-based.

Lock-breaking could also make that obnoxious noise that you hear when a zombie tries to claw down a door. Maybe three instances of this. It should be loud and obvious to everyone around.
