Letter To Malin's People #6

Letters appear, pinned on the notice-boards and signposts of the Shining Princedom.  One is prominently nailed to the Lumidrim barracks.  As per usual, the source remains unknown.

To whom it may concern-

Some months ago a new Lumidrim was initiated by Prince Khel Ossuana.  For the present I shall ignore the fact an interim military and officer corps was already in place and none of their work went into the new military, (and they were sacked ungratefully) and proceed to outline the precise reasons why Prince Khel's new Lumidrim is, in my opinion, worthless needing reform.

point A) This format has been tried already, in fact by the same man who now commands the current organization.  It was an abysmal failure.  I refer you to my own words, in my fifth letter to Malin's people, quote:

"His system has focused entirely on the defeating of A) outside threats, B) interior, deliberate menaces to the public safety, or C) Vague menaces to Anthos as a whole."

Granted it seems that this has been mostly rectified, as the new Lumidrim have not revived "quests" mandating they slay a fantastical creature in the far south.  I ask Khel to avoid this in his assigning of tasks; keep Malin's army in Malin's land.

point 2) The army is under the supreme tactical command of Prince Khel, or so it appears.  This tends to not be effective, simply because a statesman naturally attends first to his duties of state and second to his martial duties, as illustrated in the case of Prince Lafthi Sylvari, the interim High Commander prior to Khel's abrupt and unannounced reforms.  Prince Sylvari was so entirely involved in matters of state he let the army he was supposedly commanding fall into disarray.  In fact, if not for the neglect of Prince Lafthi it is probable the interim officer corps would have arrived at a solution more satisfactory to all.

point C) No system for applying has been implemented, aside from "talk to the March Warden."  How does one expect recruits to join if not through a formalized system of application, especially when I do not believe any officers have been appointed.  Should I be mistaken in this, I heartily apologize to Prince Khel and the Lumidrim for misrepresenting the organization.

point D) Malinor is still wracked by useless violence and pointless expenditure of energy in the effort of slaying or causing grievous mental of bodily harm to one's fellow-creature.  Granted reform takes time, and I will give Prince Khel the benefit of the doubt, and all my prayers that this continuation of violent and criminal activity results only from a lack of time for proper implementation.

It is my belief that after the initial and inevitable excitement surrounding this organization dies down, it will go the way of neigh-all Elvish armies since the days of Darion and Oceas Warwick, that being a slow decline from lack of involvement, corruption, and governmental stagnation.

Once again I say that in this I have not mentioned at all the dismissal of the interim officer corps or interim Lumidrim, simply because I believe that shows a fault of the Prince himself and not one of his organization, and it is that which I mean to improve, not beat to pieces.  However I believe the entire lack of recognition given to those hardworking, self-sacrificing Mali who attempted to help Malinor only to be stymied by lack of executive action is rather unfair.  I close on that note, Remaining,

Yours Truly, this Day and every Day,

O. Sylvanus Treemail~

"What know you of the 'Captains', the Lumidrim force dissolved without consent? What right have you to support these claims when you yourself were not of this order, nor have you attempted to help resolve Malinor's Lumi'drim?"

*A letter is sent to Emanf and the Raven'kor, the ones who were previously complaining about the action. The letter bares Khel's seal*

Never have I seen you pick up a blade in the name of malinor before I had made this unannounced reform. In fact, the presence of this previous guard-force was unknown to myself until it had been replaced. When I witnessed the slaughter of Malin's children at a daily basis, without the presence of a guard to vindicate order, I had taken action to ensure their safety.

You state that you're hardworking, yet I've only seen from you complaints and bickering for me taking a stand and lending aid to the mali. I invite you, join me and lend assistance to ensuring malin's people are properly and adequately defended.

Do note that your message of my interference is noted, and I've planned from the very beginning of this reform to hand the leadership down to another.Again, my presence here in the beginning was to ensure it starts properly. I had planned to step down from the leadership position and pass the leadership down to another in the coming elven week. I understand your loss, yet your impact was not great enough to ensure elves do not adhere to the path of chaos. Even now, I've only heard of you by how you express your lost position, I've yet to see you ever take action. From what I've done, the lumidrim stands tenfold stronger what it was a decade ago, I invite you to take action and stop this childish bickering about a lost position.

Also I would note the lumidrim does have a location where one may write applications without being in person. I mean not to offend you mister Sylvanous, but your claims, every one of them, are either completely and totally false or a misunderstanding. I admitt however, a great failure to communicate with you in rebuilding this. You may send at your liesure, a note describing a time and location we may discuss your future.

-Prince Khel Oussana

*A letter is sent to Emanf bearing Khel's seal*

[[ Ehemhem, I signed it under a psuedonym. . . if you suspect it was Emanaf, feel free, but that's not apparent here in your letter whom it is addressed to beyond this and yet later you address me as Sylvanus. . mind being clearer if it was under suspicion and not just straight meta or misunderstanding or what exactly it was. Thanks. ]]

Rin looks at the letter reading through it, scoffing.
"Khel is actually doing something about all the Uruk slavers, the Black Scourge, and the random people trying to kidnap Mali... to say this new Lumidrim is useless is preposterous. From what I have observed they seem to be keeping peace within the city. I would like to see whoever wrote this blasted letter try and keep out the many threats that Malinor faces.."

"And to add.. why post this anonymously? It simply makes this post even more irrelevant and whoever wrote this seem like a confounded coward.."

*Mr. O. S. Treemail has curiously not responded to anything, highly odd for him.  Who knows why?
