LoTC should expand irp means of organization & event planning and push hard against heavy discord use and discord leadership/planning.
I think you can do this already with signs, books etc. Just that you’d find nobody knows about the events and organization would be pretty shit haha. OOC leadership/planning will and has always been a thing. Sometimes people go overboard with it, ie planning successors 3-4 generations down the line. Though as long as it’s done to enhance RP there isn’t anything wrong with it.

@Jihnyny Ohhhh just an item that forces fear like a stat. Yeah I think that’s bad as well. Should be something organic.

Not really, I think as long as the group/persona you’re apart of or running is “forcing fear” in a way that still tells a story and gives roleplay to those you’re inciting fear in it’s actually incredibly useful narratively. Personally can’t wait until LOTC adapts more villains besides whatever nation people find themselves at war with and iblees.
Think a good example was the Battle of Boomhill back in Arcas. ST’s built a giant bandit fort and did casual raids on Oren. The bandits held an important mine for Boomsteel and the idea was that they were planning on using the metal to build bombs against the empire. The Empire of Oren staged basically a massacre when they fully rallied and slaughtered everyone inside. Think it turned out that some survived and that we even killed some family members of the bandits I forgot. Either way played a good story, and we were constantly reminded of the “evil” they possessed.

Love you Nooblie but there is a difference between character racism and using an irl slur.
Darkie has been a slur for dark elves forever within the realm of LOTC. Pretty obvious from reading his statement in the report as well speaking with him about the incident that it wasn’t malicious and that he’s sorry if they made you uncomfortable.

Which elven nation is generally the most active?
-
Really depends what kinda RP you're going for as they each have separate things going for them. In the Vale you'll find RP more geared towards nature, druid, and honestly a bit more day to day, hello neighbor roleplay. Talanor is a mixed bag of races that in my opinion is blooming into more of an elven state focused on magic/philosophy. Haelun’or is more an authoritarian state(this isn't a bad thing) that centers around high elves, science, voidal magics. Current Amathine I don't have a ton of experience in so I'm not the best to describe it, though it's got some great leads @JJosey. Nor'asth is home to your dark elves, though they have a lot of fun rp that happens there. Not the best to describe that either so I'd ask @Creeteabout it.
As far as activity goes I believe the descending order would be Vale, Haelun’or, Talanor, Nor'asth, Amathine. This is just the list based off of what I see, not an actual indicator of what happens there. For instance this doesn't mean that Haelun’or is better than Amathine in anyway, it's just from what I see day to day. Hope this helps!

no ******* way staff is expecting us to build huge keeps and builds in survival right???? they remove pastes and LC plugin isn't ready for "the forseeable future" that is absolutely ridiculous and does not incentivise me to contribute to any vassals/lairs/etc builds because i will spend 10+ hours on a build server with room and infinite resources to make mistakes and undo them in the build, then i will have to spend perhaps double that gathering resources and rebuilding it by hand AGAIN on live with litematica, don't even get me started on terraforming in survival. if this is a continuing occurrence i forsee huge stagnation in terms of scenery on the server

@LaeonathanNations like the ability to create detailed, lore-correct builds in a timely manner. Bringing resource pits back is a huge plus, as it allows nations to make minor changes or even small builds by themselves without worrying about grinding mina for a paste. If you want to rebuild your capital, a larger vassal wants to paste in their village, or let's say you want to terraform large swathes of land around your nation, Pastes/LC allow nations to do this in a timely matter if they have the mina to do so.
What I'm hearing, however, is that it's annoying for staff to handle pastes as a reason they were removed? While I find this to be a poor argument, as whatever time staff puts into pasting the build, the builders themselves have put probably 8x the amount of time into building it, not including the time spent by those within the nation grinding the mina for the paste. Though if this is the issue and the staff don't intend on doing pastes because they're a chore to do, perhaps return LC so the nations can paste them in themselves.

@LaeonathanPastes being implemented have greatly increased the quality of builds on LOTC, which in mind is far more important than the process of nation’s building them by hand. Time and time again what keeps people to LOTC isn’t the RP aspect of speaking to one another but the attention to detail the community as a whole has to roleplay. This includes skins, the way we speak and most definitely builds.
Pastes cost mina, LC costs mina. If you aren’t a large nation you can spend weeks grinding out the mina to use either methods. If your gripe with pastes is that they feel “free” then the argument has to be increasing the amount that pastes or LC cost, cause removing them entirely is a huge loss for the community.

@lemonkeWouldn't say it's useless by any means, it's just a more complex version of the original system. One that was dearly needed for the economy of the server I'd say. Does suck that you can't make just default iron/netherite swords for RP purposes, however you can always edit token average ones for the same result. As for the entire thread though I agree that not having LC is halting alot of builds to a halt. If we're asked to build without it you lose alot of the ability to make larger scale, more detailed builds which overall is a negative thing for the server.

are there any communities out there looking for new players? preferably with an emphasis on roleplay

Just a reminder to players, you have more control over new player experience than you realize. Put in the extra effort if you want to.

it's not the players' job to increase the server's new player retention. it is staff's job.
managing and encouraging server activity and new player retention is not my responsibility as an ordinary player and I should not be expected to do that. is it nice if I do it? yes. am I nice to newbies? of course I am. should it be required of me? no.
instead, it should be required of the people who choose to volunteer their time as staff members since they specifically applied and signed up to do it.
Don’t believe that Drake ever said it was your responsibility lol. Just was saying that you can play a big part in it. While I agree with you that staff should play a driving factor in new player activity, I’d say that the players also play a driving factor in it as well, ie Nation heads and settlement groups.

Friends that deal with Crypto, Whats the general consensus on using crpyto to pay for art commissions? Do you know anyone who'd be interested? Ive been open to the idea since my bank account is too fucked to buy and trade it myself, so i need it from another source.
