I had no idea about the tuba being against tech lock. Honestly, my bad. I've spent a lot of time off the server and didn't realize there was no lore for the tuba (and it's technologically advanced counterparts), in-game.

Mainly, the purpose of the Paladins of Xan is to safeguard the Descendants against threats to the world as a whole, such as Dragonkin, Dark Magi, or similarly foul or otherworldly threats. They're the archetypical, and only true, 'holy' magic in existence at the moment and thus fulfill the niche of holy warriors blessed by a god, dragonslayers, and spiritual healers given that they are one of a few magics able to remove curses. Papi Pollo can explain to you a lot better than I can in a simple synopsis, but the explanation is fairly simple - though the RP can possess a great deal of depth beyond simple monster hunting, if you wish to engage with the religious aspect of Paladinism, such as the wealth of deep lore and cultural richness that exists beneath the surface.
