  1. 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕽𝖔𝖆𝖘𝖙 𝕱𝖊𝖘𝖙 𝖎𝖓 𝕭𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖆𝖓 An painting of two people engaged in the middle of a roast battle can be seen One man in blue roasts the other man in red, while the other plans out his rebutting roast! There are many ways to fight. Often we do it with swords, spears, spears. We often do it on a battlefield or in the safety of our walls. But there is a lesser but perhaps a better form of fighting and dueling that is often less performed but can be quite fun to see and hear. And that is the duel of the roast! Roasting! the dueling of words and insults upon each other. And in bringing this form of fight back into its prominent stage, I, Adam Randell, invite everyone to a Roast Fest in the taverns of Atrus in Balian! Come bring some friends, a good roasting mind and spirit, and with your words, do doth inflame your opponents of your sheer amazing dueling words. And to keep with this spirit, please try to bring a friend to duel with, so that we make this event a duel of words and not a real duel of violence and bloodshed. And more importantly, each dueler in these battles will be allowed to insult one’s mother or reference one’s mother only once as though I understand the temptation may be great, it is cheap and unfair to base your dueling solely on your opponent’s mother and not the opponent himself. 3. After a hard-spent day training, Atilan would be seen resting on a bench in Helious, resting easily a cigar at his mouth. As he was relaxing a Bishop servant would appear to him and handing him the missive. Reading over the missive, cigar in hand, the Bishop would smile. "Aye, gutte on Greg!". Atilan would then move to tell his family the good news. He opens the door, smelling his wife's cooking and smiles and looking to the Angelika petting her bunny, and Konrad rading and the twins crawling about the space, he would say "Mein family ve have ein attend to attend!"
  4. The V-formation To the interested readers and fellow scholars of military strategy, The paper below was one designed to deal with that of the Inferi threat. It was written by I, Atilan Bishop, to present to my commanders a strategy we could use for the next time the Inferi did indeed pull a bull or a mighty creature upon us and then use that bull or might creature to distract our forces so that their inferi infantry then would suddenly come upon us, just as we were taken by the bull and trying to kill it. For a long time, I kept this document classified and not public, but given the need for what we seem to be dealing with this time in Almaris, I believe it necessary to make this former essay of mine public. But I do believe that this strategy devised is one that, as I did, can be fixed to meet the needs of the situation and is not one that has to work as I did so. Pieces can be moved but what is more important than the V formation is what should be used to deal with threats in battle that are not effectively and quickly killed by just 2 soldiers. Why should we use a V-formation? This formation best suits that of a traditional battle. Basically, it’s the one where we meet the enemy and the enemy meets us on a field. To make this further clear, this battle is simply a meeting of two armies, there is no siege of a city and there is no building that exists here. So, the two V’s are an infantry division, and in the middle we will have our knights on horseback and hopefully whatever Calvary we can muster. So the main strategic reason for this strategy is that A) it allows our infantry to be more mobile which is critical for some of the Inferi at hand. B) it allows us to effectively to deal with more bulk and indomitable foes (the bull in the first ever battle with the Inferi that boar creature in the Siege of Karosgrad) So, why a v shape… let’s make the comparison to that of a regular static rectangular unit. We will arrange our forces so that’s there’s 12 men in a 4*3 rectangle for the rectangular unit shape and then in a 12-man V for the other and compare it to what happens if a boar or a bull comes charging straight forward. So the circles in red are those most likely to get hit and become a casualty, the green circles will denote the ones least likely to get hit with a bull or boar charge and the yellow indicates that it might go either way. A drawing of the a smaller V formation that only used 12 soldiers could be seen, assessing risk of the unit in its colours. So, when looking at the above. We see two guaranteed casualties in this V-formation if we are to assume the soldiers hold their ground (which a V is created to allow for mobility but in this case we are just talking about reduced casualties). We see 4 more possible casualties and yes, in this case if the creature is charging forward in a straight line without changing trajectory like they always do, then we get the same casualty assessment. However, if we use this system we see how we get half the soldiers as casualties in the bull’s charge or the malflame and this is why the V is so important! It reduces likely casualties and it’s more mobile. A drawing of a typical rectange formation of soldiers could be seen taking upon the same risk assessment as described. What makes the V Formation Mobile? So, let’s assume our rectangular formation is the traditional formation (as shown above), there are also issues with mobility. When dealing with a charging creature, infantry finds itself surrounded and unable to make a good retreat as they might bump into their infantry and also a rectangular structure keeps soldiers more rigid which works when the enemy can be held back, but if the enemy is giant creature like the bull or boar that is just too big to get pushed back by a soldiier than the infantry need the ability to move backward and sideways to allow themselves room to pull back and then counterattack. A recreation of the same rectanle strategy would be seen yet again So let’s assume the infantry closest in line to the charging enemy movies out of the way as shown here where the infantry is to pull back like so, here is what happens. Where you see the infantry pull back. There would be arrows in this drawing to indiate where each soldier would move if the bull started to charge in its straight path. Now let’s assume the infantry reconverge again after moving away and now attack the bull’s blindside or its sides to weaken it. (size of arrows doesn’t mean anything, just indicating movement) There would be arrows in this drawing to indiate where each soldier would move after being force to pull back and away. So, now this looks great but see how only 6 of the 12 are actively engaged in trying to slow the beast? If the other 6 in green move downwards or upward to do damage and encircle, they would have been just as fast as doing it in a V formation. And this is why the V is better suited here as it puts more men in the attack. Allow me to show you! Here we see the V formation as before it was mobile. Another drawing of the a smaller V formation that only used 12 soldiers could be seen, assessing risk of the unit in its colours. And now here it is when it’s mobile! We get this result shown below where instead of 6 men attacking men we get the entire formation able to do attack the creature which can be very effective. Also we see how our V becomes a straight line where either the beast continues its charge through but most likley more injured and damaged or it dies in the V that basically formed a pincer on it. If it dies, the infantry can then resume the V as before or become a rectangle formation if need be. And this is Why a V is the best strategy to use, especially when dealing with a charging bull like creature or a big beast that will need a team of infantry to kill. It allows more mobility and allows more soldiers to deal damage and injury upon the charging creature. Compared to your more traditional structure, this formation is more efficient and thus effectve. And remember often the charging creature serves as a distraction to give their infantry to rush your position and so thus, it’s critical that the large creature is dealth with swiftly and the V simply just does that better. An Example of an Application of the V-infantry formation in conjunction with other forces Now this example (shown below) that I started initially can be subject to change but I think 2 V’s are better because we still need to take into the fact the enemy infantry and other forces they may bring alongside the creatures or creature they intend to use as I have already described. However, this strategy shifts the killing of the charging creature to those on horseback like the calvary and horseback this time as we have shown how the V works with infantry. But the infantry in V’s are doing important work and also there could still be other enemy infantry or charging creatures present that would still make the V’s useful and the soldiers in the back are the ranged unit doing the very important job of killing ranged units and also other infantry and cavalry that may arise in such a battle. And since that we have shown why V’s are a good formation overall, now we have to get into the good parts of this strategy. Now let’s assume we have the same charging enemy creature similar to the bull or boar in our battles. First our horse units arrive and will form a circling tactic to disorient the target and perhaps slow him down and inflict damage. However, this depiction fails to talk about the Inferi infantry who will also be on the attack and if they are successful and get to the calvary while we let our infantry to hold their positions, we get this very bad situation. Can you see what happens here? Our horse units become surrounded and overwhelmed as they fight on two fronts, one side where they are circling around and fighting the bull and then the other where their infantry attack and this is why the infantry also will need to move forward as those on horseback move to attack the Inferi. And from there we get a better, more defensible position and it must be important to note that once the cavalry circles the creature they will be moving downwards to meet our infantry. Below is the result of a successful formation. Remember this is doable as long our cavalry will be circling and that circling will have a downward trend so it gives our infantry time and less distance to work with, making them a bit faster and ready to defined their cavalry. So now what happens is either men from the V or some of the ranged unit will go up and form a mini wall to allow our cavalry to do its work. And now, our infantry deals with their infantry and if in their ranks they contain very specialized forces such as the big ogre-like creatures or another huge imp like orc creature that could not be killed by just one man quickly, we have shown how the V is still very capable of fighting them down. Once the charging inferi is dealt with by those on horseback they can circle back and attack the infantry. And perhaps the horizontal wall that formed between the V’s can be separated and those on horseback can charge through. An important caveat, none of this formation is set in stone. What I have described here is an example, a basic one at that too. If there is more than one charging inferi, we can split those on horseback or we also allow the infantry to engage. Also important to note all those on horseback is assumed to have their horses and themselves wearing significant armor and I highly encourage those on horseback to carry shields. Also physics dictates that a horse with heavy armor is less pushed by an explosion compared to an infantry and that’s why it’s often good to use the cavalry on them. If the creature is capable of explosive powers like that bull in the first battle of the Inferi War Furthermore, those in the reserves can be pushed forward and moved out to fight in the V’s or be moved out to fit the need of the situation at hand. To the readers who have made it this and to the true scholars of military stratagem, If you have read this far, I thank you for having read this paper in full. I ask that you simply take the time to see and understand how the V can play and be used in a battle. To take the time to think on this, perhaps make your own stratagems. If you are a officer in your military, perhaps use this but in full understanding of your own military’s capacity and strength. And just as important, in this paper, I made no talk of the weapons to use and this was an intentional thing. For I know, I know not every army can make certain weapons like pikes or spears standard issue in an infantry loadout. Furthermore, sometimes it might be better in some situations to use a sword over a spear or perhaps in that V formation you have one line of spears and one line of swords for example. But either way, more importantly this paper was designed to promote the use of a strategy that ought to be used more often to fit the need for this kind of situation as I described above. And I, speak to you as an experienced soldier who has fought battles with Inferis, Rozanians and scores of bandits beyond count. Though I will not call myself a scholar in anyway, I do wish to tell you that I am not a man who speaks with little experience of a lack of knowledge and that I do not want you as the reader to have questions about this author’s military knowledge such that it derails the more necessary conversation about the V formation that we all ought to have as fine military men of our nations who would do what it took to make sure our fellow comrades returned home to their wives, husbands, parents and children. 5. To the people of Balian, his majesty, commonors, and nobles alike, I know many of you have seen and read the missive posted by the Royal Balian Academy. I myself was delighted to have read that missive and so were many of the commoners that read that missive in the streets. And yet, has the condition of the commonor’s education changed since then? Unfortunately, the education of the commoner has not changed and his condition has remained the same as before. The commoner man may only succeed in this Kingdom if he is given the ability to have an education and become a part of our government. The Royal Balian Academy has not fully embraced this idea… in fact all they have done is offer a closed door when before it was just a wall. Yet, the result stays the same as the commoner man needs an open door. The tests offered by the Royal Balian Academy, although literally on paper claim to allow for a commoner to gain an education by passing them, are unpassable. No commoner, despite their own background and ability to read and write was able to pass this exam. The questions demanded knowledge that only could have come from taking classes in the program of which you are supposed to be taking the exam for? Now, I know some of you might think the failure of the commoners was that their class makes them incapable of the same ability to learn and take tests of that of the nobleman. And yet, the commoner man was given a test he was designed to fail at achieving. For example, look upon this test question: What is the difference between the use of prepositions in Flexio as opposed to Proto Flexio? Offer an example of such a difference. No commoner is able to answer this question! It is an unfair question designed to set up the commoner man and still maintain the Academy’s wishes to maintain a noble-only institution. Now I speak this in truth, I bear no fault upon any nobleman or noblewoman. But we as the commoner can't stand idly from being denied an education from an institution that has said publicly that it values the merit of the common man. The tests are a sham! They are simply a false hope in their current form. True education must exist in fair and reasonable tests. I have already spoken about the dangers of an uneducated populace. The Commoner man deserves a place in our government and the commoner is a man worth fighting for in this pursuit. These tests need to be fixed and changed. Or better yet, these tests ought to be abolished and in their place the Royal Balian Academy is to accept all those who are willing and able to learn all classes. We must fight for what is right and I urge every common man to continue to fight for his education. I urge his majesty to hear our cause. I urge our nobles to come to realize the privilege of their class and ask that they help to fight for the cause of their fellow commoners. To the common, I ask that you keep the fight renewed for our plight of our education. And I ask that the academy does revise their tests or simply abolish them. From the commoner who seeks the education of his class, Adam Randell, Private and Steward of the Procuration Office
  6. 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕬𝖚𝖈𝖙𝖎𝖔𝖓 𝖔𝖋 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕭𝖆𝖑𝖎𝖆𝖓 𝕾𝖙𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖙𝖘! Balians making bids to have their name on a street! The kids giggling and running about, the adolescents laughing and taunting, the men and women of Balian walking down hand in hand to wherever they may go, the graceful desert birds chirping in the Balian sun, the knights proud and tall on top of their gallant steeds. The soldiers walk and talk of victory thus making everyone’s hearts beam at the sigh of their nation in happiness and in valor. The signs of life and joy seem to pervade the scene. It calls to you and to others to join in on this scene of happiness. And then there is you, leaning back on a market stall or in your villa on a balcony overlooking the scene of happiness as it spreads onto you. But where is this scene of liveliness happening? It’s happening on a public street in Balian, a street named after you. A scene of happiness occurring in a place that carries your name. And so, we the Procurators Office of Balian invite all and one and you to join in this opportunity. We hereby pronounce the creation of the Balian street Auction, an auction to have a street named after you, a street that has the innate ability to bring scenes of happiness and joy to all those who will use this street in their daily lives. And so, we ask that all come to partake in this to be part of maintaining our streets but to also maintain the happiness and greatness of our fair city of Atrus. The bidding will start at 100 minas per street, with each bid to follow after carrying a value of at least 25 minas over that of the last preceding one, please make communication (by bird or meeting) towards Countess Johanne Vuiller in regards to such. A Balian Street filled with bustling people and happiness! So you know what you are bidding for! 7. Atilan would receive the bird and blink very much confused. "What? Zhink zhis must have gotten to the wrong person... Ich swear zhese birds now ein days aren't being trained correctly!". He said then taking out some seeds and pettings its feathers for its long trip home. Adam Randell would read the letter and proofread it and think that he spelled things correctly.
  8. To His Majesty, Alexander I, and to the nobles and the commoners of Balian, I write this paper today to address the lack of the education of the common man. If this paper does find itself in the hands of our Majesty, I will say this now. THis paper is in no way an attempt to smear or insult his majesty or his family. But rather tackle the more serious issue of the education of the common man and the institutions that hold them back. And I do not hold our King to such an injustice as it was in his time that the common man did indeed receive an education and the common man on paper does indeed hold the right to join in government. To the nobles of Balian, I ask that you take into consideration the state of that of the common man’s education as you read. To my fellow commoners, I pray this letter finds you well. As you read this letter that I penned, I pray you find it in your hearts and spirits to follow in my steps and champion our education. For far too long, the commoners in this city have been denied the basic rights to education and the ability to be a member of our government. We live in a government that creates rules and laws that govern that of the common and noble man. Yet only the noble has the say to which he may control or influence such laws. This injustice is evident in two institutions: that of our Royal Academy and the Duana. The Royal Academy, although a fair institution in its meritorious stature in teaching its students, furthers this injustice as it only takes in students of the noble class and forces the commoners to languish outside and devoid of its education. And although it is a meritorious institution, it fails to see the merit and intelligence of the common man. The common man is just as capable and hardworking as the nobility of this realm. I myself am a son of a former commoner Balian Senator. My father worked his way up the social ladder in Balian to become a part of the Balian government. Attesting to his merits, it is evident that commoners are capable of pursuing education, and yet we remain prejudiced by an institution that does not provide enough resources and attention to our plight. Indubitably, an education in the royal academy helps to further a career and job in that of the Balian government. The Balian government should make laws and rules that the common man lives under and had the opportunity in which he might be able to play a part in such rules and law-making so that he too is represented in this government. And so, my fellow readers, I ask again. should we be prohibited from the chance to join the Academy and then partake in a government job? The Balian Academy should consider admission of the commoner for the sake of our nation. It is critical and necessary for proper governance and administration that we have an informed populace. Make no doubt, the majority of this Kingdom is composed of the common man and by not being educated we create a nation where its citizens remain uneducated. Some of you reading this letter might not see the error in this, but let me explain why it is necessary for the common man to be educated. An uneducated commoner, because of his lack of education and not his class, falls more susceptible to the teachings of false prophets, teachers, and false leaders who spread false governance who will seek to create disharmony in our nation. An educated commoner gains the ability to discern the needle of truth from the haystack of lies. Therefore for the reasons stated, I ask and implore that the Royal Academy and the Duana take admission of the commoners of Balian within the folds of their institution. From a Commoner who seeks the education of his class, Adam Randell, Private and Steward of the Procuration Office
  9. The court is only happening because the plaintiff has called for it! And Atilan is only having the court, because the assaulted wishes it because from an unbaised opinion, it can be seen that there is a trial is able to be had.
  10. SUMMONS TO THE AULIC COURT OF HANSETI-RUSKA: Lord Audo Weiss Issued by Ser Atilan Viktor Bishop On the 19th of Tov and Yeremy, 461 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, Following the filing of a civil claim regarding the supposed assault by the defendant, the Office of the Justiciar sees fit to summon Lord Audo Weiss to the Aulic Court of Hanseti-Ruska. The investigation of the charges began due to the jovenaar seeing visible signs of injury upon Stefan Af Don calling for court dealing with injuries that Audo had inflicted upon him. As such, the Office of the Justiciar sees it fit to summon this individual to appear before the Aulic Court to state their cases on the evidence. Should they fail to attend Court, the Crown will consider such an admission of guilt and the presiding Jovenaar shall issue their sentence wherein they shall be considered criminals within our lands. The defendant, Lord Audo Wiess shall appear before the Aulic Court and answer for the following charges: VIII Let he who harms another outside of battle be guilty of Assault. I swear the contents of this summons to be true and accurate to the best of my knowledge before Godan. MONN TAMORT OE SPARVEED, Ser Atilan Viktor Bishop, Jovenaar of Haenseti-Ruksa, Knight of the Order of the crow
  11. AULIC COURT OF THE KINGDOM OF HANSETI-RUSKA Krawn z. Alejandro Sands and Florian Sands Vzmey and Hyff 461 ES 12th of Gronna ag Droba, 458 E.S. Jovenaars Ser Atilan Viktor Bishop Prosecution Lady Adele Emma Ludovar Defense Firr Alejandro Sands and Firr Florian Sands Testimonies Lady/Her Highness Amity Ionna De Pelear Lady/Her Highness Veronica Isabella De Pelear Lord Haus Weiss Firr Alejandro Sands Firress Callista Santos THE FOLLOWING CHARGES WERE BROUGHT AGAINST THE DEFENDANT: V Let he who attempts or conspires to commit a crime be guilty of Attempt, to be punished as if they had committed the crime itself. VI Let he who aids or conspires with another to commit a crime be guilty of Contribution, to be punished as if they had committed the crime itself. VIII Let he who harms another outside of battle be guilty of Assault. XXV Let he who lies with another outside of matrimony be guilty of Fornication. [ Jura i Krima ] THE FOLLOWING CLAIMS WERE BROUGHT AGAINST THE DEFENDANT: The defendants pleaded innoence to the crimes listed above. The two charged were found to be in a compromising situation together that occured outside the bounds of marriage. Alejandro and Florian also claimed innocence to the charge of assault and contribution regarding the attempted murder of Callista Santos. THE RATIONALE FOR THE PRESIDING JOVENAAR IS AS SUCH: Based on the testimony of Lady Amity de Pelear and the lived experience of the Jovenaar, the fact that although, the two were found to be in compromising situation, there was no real evidence that they were laying or in the act of that and thus can't be found guilty of the crime of fornication, which requires that of laying, not being found in a compromising situation. Now as for the crimes of assault and contribution, based upon the fact that the accused willingly turned himself in, inspite of the crimes against him and the fact that the person who did the crime was Lorec Stormheart, who was reveleaed in court to be crazy and insane in how he was shown when he was killed, and the way he handled himself after doing the crime. The defense showed that there was proof that Lorec was indeed an insane individual which thus affirmed the defendents need to flee from the place of the crime in fear of Lorec. This would show that they had no proven intention of assault and murder. It is so Ordered.
  12. After his long day of exercise and fitness, Atilan Bishop would return to Ostervik. He moved to his daughter’s crib and he would gently take the crying babe and cradle her in his arms. As she gently lulled to sleep, Atilan would move to his office still holding the child in his arms. The newly appointed jovenaar would open a book on law, gently reading it out loud hoping that the boringness of the subject might lure his daughter to sleep. As he did so, a servant would knock and the Bishop would say “Come in”. The servant would hand him the missive. The Bishop would read the letter his brows furrowing and his face growing in rage as he did so. After reading a viable sudden calmness could be seen, as the Bishop calmly laid the missive down and went to grab at the law book and then after appearing calm. Atilan would just yeet the book all the way across the room, which would create a loud thud. This would make the daughter in his arms cry. And Atilan would scream out “Sheizze”. The crying of the baby and Atilan’s curse would awaken Isabel and she would rush into the room. “Mein love, is everything alright?”. While holding the missive into the air and slamming it down on the table so that she could take it, the Waldenian would respond with “Nein! Zhese Rutherns have zhe audacity to say mein cousin Aurik and his 8 year old son haven’t been contributing to Haense. Vhat on the… so vhat mein family doesn’t make big grandiose statements in the courts that we are doing some contributions!!! Just because we don’t make our contributions public does not mean zhe Koeng doesn’t know vhat mein family brings und has contributed to Haense… und Zhen he has the audacity to suggest that I lead the family, just because I have to be the poor lad who has to go to courts and deal vith men like him my family doesn’t do enough!!!”. Isabel would simple open her arms and take the crying daughter from him and would proceed to read the missive.
  13. Atilan would read his poem and only give a small smile to the poem about his trial. He would continue to read the poems and seeing the one about the Wall, he would sigh regretable wishing he had done more that day. Finally after reading all the poems he would show the Poems to Isabel, reading them outloud so that his daughter in her mother's arms could hear her and say "Godan be... zhis Borris Iver Kortevich ist quite zhe writer indeed!"
  14. A tired and sleep-deprvid Bishop could be seen working at his desk when a servant walked up to him and said "Lord Bishop, House Ruthern has decalred war on Norlad? At least that's what these missive entail...." The Waldenian would take a look at the missives one of the declaration of war and the other containing news of the Queens capture. The Bishop would blink many times, unsure of if he was hearing was true. The Bishop finally respons with "Godan be... Godan be...". The Bishop would then look to his collections of weapons near his table, but for what reason he himself wasn't sure... was it fear? a happiness to use? Reluctance to use them?
  15. House Bishop and the Brotherhood of Saint Karl thank all of the noble houses that have participated in this donation drive. Many of you have worked hard and that effort will not be forgotten! The Kingdom is sure to benefit from its nobility and its generos endeavors for many years to come. Prizes: House Colborn donated 3,200 leather pelts and thus have claimed the first place prize of 1,500 Almaris mina! House Barclay donated 2,943 and thus claimed the second place prize of 500 Almaris mina! Large thanks is due as well to (in no particular order) to House Ruthern, House Baruch, House Kyazyev and House Weiss for their passion to keep the military operating at its best. God Bless the Haeseni Nobility. Note: House Bishop, along with the Crown and Peerage of Haense, rebuke the actions of the criminal who has infiltrated numerous noble holdings and slain their livestock, and further, attempted to shift blame onto another. The guilty party is known to our discussions. And he is encouraged to seek a priest for confession. - Aurik Bishop Signed, Atilan Bishop, BSK Quartermaster Aurik Bishop, Baron of Ostervik
  16. Upon reaching home and finally having a moment to think, Atilan Bishop crashes down on his office seat. He recollects day and then grabs his best botte of Ser Erwin's and pours himself a glass of the scotch. Looking out the window he sees his nieces playing outisde and then he looking back to the fireplace, his memories move and shift in his mind and all of a sudden he remembers a fireplace from years earlier. The fireplace near in the King's court. A young Atilan stands there watching it, excitedly awaiting his father and to attend his first King's court. He remember sitting next to his father, the 11-year old boy gazes up and sees the King in all his glory stand on that throne. He sees the congregants of the court hush their chatters once the man speaks. He hears the boom in his voice and the 11-year old thinks "Zhis Koeng ist so cool". His father Thomund tells him "Ja, mein son und one day du vill serve under him too und follow in dur vatter's footsteps as du serve in his majesty's army!". The Present day Atilan smiles softly thinking of when he had first met the King. He thinks about the childhood conversations he had with the King after. Atilan looks around his room with a sigh and his eyes make gaze with the sword hanging on his room and he sees his old childhood sword. He remembers following through and joining the army. He remembers the conversations he had with the King near the Duma halls and outside the palace. Atilan thinks "Godan... Ich really did have ein gutte Koeng und he vas ein gutte man to mich... even vhen Ich vas just ein lad". Atilan suddenly realizes that Karl III was like that with everyone and he smiles and a small tear forms in his eye that he quickly wipes down. Atilan remembers speaking with the King about Norland and how impressed the King had been by his understanding of weighing the risk and benefits of going to war with them as a teenager. He remembers proudly standing guard during court. Cartrying that same sword childhood sword in his sheathe but always ready to protect his Kingdom. He smiles fondly thinking of those days and the conversations he had with the King. Both his tears well up, but Atillan quickly brushes that aside. Atilan averts his gaze from his sword and looks over to the closet in his room and walks up into it observing the clothing there. Atilan smiles as he then observes his older red jacket that he wore during his time in Lifstala. Atilan remembers the men's presentations during that event. He chuckles to himself as he remembers his nervousness walking into that arena. He remembers how he had told the King that he wished to a trial of wit for his presentation. He sighs as he remembers being unable to answer the first question the one about the national fruit of Haense. He smiles then as he remembers getting the second question and then the third. He smiles remembering how his family had cheered him as he won the squireship. A single tear falls down Atilan's face as he remembers the joy and happiness in being awarded the squireship. He remembers his many failings in life too such as his flirtacious manners of his past and how it nearly cost him everything. But then he thinks of the how the King had still stood by Atilan and instead of removing him of his privileges, Atilan remembers how despite all that the King had still put his trust in him and how from then on Atilan would knew that he was still worthy and capable of redemption. Two tears from from his face this time, as he remembers fighting with the King in the battles against the Inferi. He remembers the joy he felt in knowing that he had served well and fought with all he could for his King... but now the King he fought so hard for is dead. Atilan goes back to his office and pours himself another of Ser Erwin's scotch and smiles and sighs looking out to see his nieces playing. Atilan looks out to the clear day ahead and looks to the sky out the window and says "Godan be... King Karl Godan be... du changed mein life for zhe better und made much zhe man zhat Ich am today. Und now it ist time to continue as du vould alvays vant mich too. Rest vell dur majesy". He smiiles and sighs placing the bottle down and thinking of the man who had done so much for his Kingdom that he ruled and for the small little Waldenian Bishop that had once sat down at one the lad's first ever courts.
  17. In his offices in Ostervik, Atilan Bishop says "Well zhis is certainly a way to get married. I hope nien one dies from zhis duel and zhat his highness James Leopold can prove himself worthy at least for his sake." he said then looking to Rebekka and Joa "Shall ve have dinner?"
  18. The Armiger and Royal Alderman would sigh and put a hand to his face in frustration "Zhis vas supposed to be ein competition to provide much needed leather. Godan, whoever did zhis... Godan may he be prosecuted to zhe fullest extent of vhat is possible". The Bishop would then toss the paper away onto the table and start working on the bookkeeping for the Leather Leaderboard.
  19. His desk flooded in papers and drafts, a servant would hand him the missive. Atilan would take a quick look over the paper but then stop at the section mentioning him. All of sudden he broke out into laughter and shaking his head, he would look to the servant and say "Godan, zhese critics must certainly have never met zhis Bishop!" glancing again at the section he would then mutter to himself "To start having a track record in zwy Duma, vy need to have served in it or have ein position in it, previously. But as for vision, oh zhey will see plenty of zhat in ve years to come!" he said then returning to drafting his bill.
  20. The quartermasters of the BSK, from recent reports, see that it is lacking in leather pelts for the crafting of its arms and equipment. To rectify the problem, a competition has been devised and put forth for the Houses and families of the Haeseni society. House Bishop, challenges all of the most productive noble houses of the dual Kingdom of Haenseti-Ruska to engage in a leather donation competition and to fill our armory’s stocks. Both the Quartermaster Atilan Bishop, and the King’s Lord Marshal Sviatoslav Godunov are looking for bulk donations of leather that shall be donated to the Brotherhood of Saint Karl. For the sake of simplicity in this competition, we stipulate that each noble house designates either their peer, or dedicated steward to be solely charged with donating the shipments and verifying the records shared among the quartermasters. Prizes: For the House which contributes in the highest order to the BSK Armory: 1500 Almaris Mina For the House which contributes in the second highest order to the BSK Armory: 500 Almaris Mina Note: House Bishop will not be participating in the competition itself, but will watch on with interest. Signed, Atilan Bishop, Quartermaster-Armiger of the BSK His Excellency, Lord Sviatoslav Godunov, Lord Marshal of the Brotherhood of St. Karl, Baron of Verskaya Aurik Bishop, Baron of Ostervik
  21. Atilan Bishop reads the notice and decides that maybe this year, would be his year to do more. He begins to write his letter.
  22. A certain Bishop could be seen carrying logs as part of his training regime when a House guard comes to the Josephin Bishop handing him a piece of paper saying, "Lord Bishop, Ich have been ordered to tell du zhat du should ready dur best wear". Dropping the logs, the sweaty Lord Bishop would then take the paper and smile. He can be heard saying "Vell, gutte on him! Took him forever! Godan!" he said, happy for his friend and prince. He would then think of Rebekka and wonder if when he would have to see her walk down the aisle too.
  23. Atilan Bishop sits there on a bench near the fountain in his new home, Ostervik. His body recovering from the wounds of battle, a vodka in hand. He sighs and thinks of the battle. A small tear drops down his face, guilty that he hadn't done enough to kill the Inferi guard. He quietly says "Ser Walton, I failed you. You saved my life and yet I couldn't do the same to you. Why couldn't I have just plunged that blade into his neck!", quietly relaying the events of that battle in his head. In frustration at himself, he throws the bottle over the wall where the breaking of a glass bottle could be heard.
  24. Atilan Bishop, bleeding and sweaty, would appear victorious, holding the head of the paleknight. And yet, Atilan didn't feel like a victor. He didn't feel that he just taken down a paleknight with the help of his fellow knights and BSK comrades. Instead, he touches his cuts shoulder and from there he overheard the cries and tears. And then, he realized what had happened as he overheard the news from those in the crowd. The Lord Morovar was dead. Atilan sighs and looks to the ceiling as if asking God why did this have to happen to the Lord Morovar. In quite tones due to the crowd around and him not wanting to be disrespectful to the grieving widow, he quietly utters a small prayer: "Lord Morovar, du died fighting and that saved my life. I wouldn't wouldn't be hear if it wasn't for you charging on at the paleknight, while I stood there unarmored and more exposed than normal in my prosecution clothes. You helped justice get done and killed a being that would have surely killed me, for getting it seen as guilty of its crimes. May godan bless du"
