  5. "The kind of PAGANS who bother with horoscopes, Your Ladyship," comments a servant, pouring a coup of tea beside her. "Wait, who the **** is this?" she might think, but the servant would disappear like a spectre were she to look, only leaving behind a business card titled "Canonist Services Ltd." with an undertext explaining how good Canonist men with family values in your area could help YOU, yes YOU, with your pagan problem.
  6. "The legal system certainly. I believe it was even drafted by lawyers from the Imperial Circuit Courts. The legislature and Aulic Council, however, long predate the Petrine Empire, and have never, to my knowledge, fundamentally changed in form or function. I'm not familiar with how the Queen's Council functions or where the system traces its origins, but I'll also cede that the burgeoning tradition of the Consort being elevated to be the Monarch's equal clearly comes from the Empire through Anne-Joseph and Philip-Anastasia. A trend that's even catching on among the nobility. As for the Adrians: it's a dishonest critique on their part then. From what I can see, the Josephite Mafia was an unholy union of Adunians and Adrians. O'Rourkes and de Sarkozies. Surnames that would make you shudder. That remark stays within the bookclub though, before any loose lips get me in trouble with the Duke."
  7. "It would be prudent to note that while in this Volume it is implied that the centralisation of Haense is a replication of the Petrine Empire's efforts, in a previous Volume he correctly notes that the Empire actually copied Haense, who had long banned levies and stripped the nobility of the right to do build much of anything on their lands before the Imperial Crown even conscienced it. Indeed, Haense is actually considerably less centralised today than it was then, allowing its nobles to rule over settlements and establish large house guards," Stanimar writes in a letter addressed to his snail-mail historical book club, "And the Adrian opposition to liberal institutions is a tad dubious, with the Senate arising during the reign of Adrian de Sarkozy, Duke of Adria, and surely drawing at least some inspiration from Adrian representative bodies like the Duma or the Assembly of Ves."

Yea I'd have to agree with you. I actually enjoy giving history lessons as I've been playing my elf since late 2012/early 2013 and it's fun telling tales of what he's been through

  15. Minecraft elections become really unfun when anything's actually at stake. Dwarves aren't a democracy at all. A handful of guys voting someone in for life (which is no different to what humans do with the High Pontiff) is not the same as everyone voting regularly. Both (a) everyone voting (and the OOC canvassing, issues with counting, etc. that causes), and (b) regularity of elections (meaning you're rarely not in "election mode" and stressing over blockgame) make an actual democracy unfun and unviable for reasons that don't affect a normal elective monarchy.
  16. "Ultimatum sent to the Church immediately followed by a civil war. Now just wait 'til you hear what the Prince of Sedan's wife's been up to."
  17. "Kidnapping a Queen cat is illegal in Haense but kidnapping a Nordish Queen isn't. What a strange country," remarks Stanimar 'the Savoyard' Barclay, expert in Haeseni case law.
  18. "So the Petrans are describing their own country as godless now, and reliant on foreign missionaries to stop them mixing 'strange and corrupt practices' and to cure their 'lack of faith'? And not only this, not only do they advertise their blatant apostasy to the world, but they demand their own Archbishopric and the right to appoint their own Archbishop, when their heathenrous rabble can't even produce a single man of faith? Pathetic," responds Stanimar.
  19. "The eternal ******* HAENSER," Stanimar declares.
  20. "They could've established a neutral authority with figures from each nation, to ensure impartiality, but instead they drafted this piece of already-used-chamberpot-paper to demonstrate to the world the sheer lack of regard is paid their demonic tormenters. It's clear that at least one, but probably more, of the signatories are Azdrazi or Azdrazi-Harbourers, and that this treaty is worth less than the paper its authors shat upon. May GOD damn them all," Stanimar concludes.
