  2. That's the idea. I don't want there to be any specific guidelines to allow for more freedom and creativity. Just follow the rules. Like I said at the beginning of my post, this is nothing new. Some people already do this, but they are only a handful. This would help give people more ideas on how to spice up their roleplay experience.
  3. ((Before I begin, I want to state that this is nothing new. I simply thought it'd be nice to have lore for it.)) Side Effects for the Void-Attuned For those who have practiced the voidal arts for decades, they'll find that their connection to the void now feels like an extension of their being. Said connection can even behave like a reflex in some scenarios, happening quickly and involuntarily. It's not unheard of for a master fire evocationist to occasionally exhale coalish smoke after casting. Or an electrical evocationist to generate small sparks around them after a hiccup. Or even an arcanist expelling strangely coloured ectoplasm after a sneeze. The possibilities are many and unpredictable. The cause for these quirky phenomenons can be explained quite simply. Those who have consistently made use of the void for several years have had their minds accustomed to it, no longer being perceived as a strange force by their psyche, but rather, as a part of them. Of course, the connection itself is unnatural, the mind merely believes it not to be, so it may involuntarily call upon it whenever a reflex is triggered. Sneezes, hiccups, surprises and many more sudden things can cause such an instance. Luckily, it never seems to have any adverse effects, or benefitial effects for that matter. It is entirely neutral. Each mage can have their own unique quirk, or quirks, in some cases. It all depends on what art the mage specializes in. OOC: This tiny piece of lore is meant to help people spice up their magic roleplay with a little something. It's meant to be almost entirely cosmetic and for the most part inconsequential in roleplay. Not that you're not allowed to let it have a small impact on RP, such as your character having a slip and others realizing they are a mage. I'm only saying it's meant to play only a tiny role to make the world of LotC seem more rich and whimsical (unintended pun). Here are some rules for this lore: Feel free to be creative when it comes to roleplaying a random effect, but make sure it's within reason first. (Please don't fart fire or anything like that)This lore only applies for voidal magics.Random effects cannot harm you or others directly. (Being burned for witchcraft because you sneezed snowflakes is fine.)You must have mastered a subtype and have been practicing magic for several IC years for your character to be able to do this. That's it folks. This is my first piece of lore, so any feedback, constructive comments and suggestions are very welcome!

  9. Let them create a "fire pet" if they want. It's going to be useless and will drain their mana so quick it'll poof in a few minutes. Arcane life has always been a thing, but if conjurationists are going to get cranky about it now then I can do without it to avoid trouble.
  10. It's not actual life. It's just arcane energy shaped like a living being. It has no organs, no life functions, it's not alive at all. It's just a bunch of arcane energy that the mage shaped like an animal and has to fully control like a puppet. You don't need to know conjuration to know what any animal looks like. And it's not even useful in combat. I don't see why this is an issue.
  11. I like this a lot. However, as a fellow roleplayer of both shielding and evocation, I've a bunch of questions. -For those of us who have had one or both of the magics, how would we define at what level we actually are in this new lore? Seems a but difficult to pinpoint one's capabilities with this new specializations system. -Can whips be used to latch on to things Indiana Jones style? -I would like more clarification on the amount of force that a "Ray" spell is capable of applying. Could it crush a man in plate armor? I feel it's a bit vague at the moment. -What happened to the "No arcane armor" red line? -In the case of weaponry such as sword, can they actually cut like their material counterparts? -Can the mage evoke a weapon for another person to use? It would be a neat interaction for mages and warriors to have. It would allow the mage to create a fitting weapon and the warrior is obviously a lot better at melee combat than the mage. They would both synergize to enhance the effectiveness of the other. I would also like to propose a spell, meant to be the "ultimate" spell of the projectile specialization The Devastation Beam - Very Large: The mage starts to accumulate energy in their body at a slow and steady pace. As more and more energy is accumulated, the more volatile and unstable it becomes, resulting in escalating mana and focus cost for the caster. Once enough energy has been accumulated, the mage can redirect all of it towards one point (Their arm) and fire off a massive beam that travels much further than any other projectile and annihilates anything in its path (It hits like a wrecking ball). The extreme force of this spell is somewhat compensated by its many drawbacks. First of all, it requires a very, very long time to charge up. Also, interrupting the mage in thi stage will cause the energy to be released prematurely and hurt the mage, along wth any unlucky bystanders close enough, the effect being more harmful the longer the mage has been charging. Then, the body of most mages simply cannot withstand such a collossal force, shattered arm and hand bones and luxation are uncommon injuries to attain from successfully casting this spell. (I like to /roll to decide on the damage. A perfect roll of 20 means no broken bones, but the mage would be completely drained for a good while after casting it) Most orcs would kill a mage for using mojo. Let alone allow themselves to wield a mojo weapon.
  12. So, what if instead of balancing mages in PvP with a plugin we adress the real issue and tackle the excessive amount of PvP itself?

  17. +1, it's a nice idea and gold weapons were truly an issue for undead players. I think most people need to understand that dark beings such as wraiths are meant to be powerful. And why would a simple peasant even have a shred of a chance against one? The wraith would win before the fight even started. People need to realize, that sometimes the best way to fight something is not to fight it in the first place. Wraiths are meant to be an imposing menace that in order to be taken down a decently sized group, with help of holy magics preferably, needs to fight it. Don't whine at this lore for hurting your ego by reducing your chances of winning.

To be fair, I made it clear I had to go because I wanted to sleep. Instead of sending me a pm on skype you decided to make a status to garner sympathy and justify your preconceived notion that somehow I was out to wrong you. You will be recompensated once I get home. Ps: if you took damage during the fight it was fall damage.

I have no perconceived notions about you. You simply made a mistake. What prompted me to do this was your lack of apology and acknowledgement of your fault, and also how you told me to "stfu" after you downed me and I pointed out the godmode.
