  2. The Scourge of the Empire Lightbringer Arkhelon THE RUINED CITY OF AVOS The Year of the Fool, 1048 Months 1-6(12) “To Agos nyr to Anakhta eiva ano, En twyn exo nos, En wyn exo kativos. Sehula anyos tor nas, Ka fyr tios antinos, Aen enkinovos novi to ovynus Sehula.” “The Age of the Empire is over, From within it has rot, From outside it will be destroyed. Sehula guide us, As we bring retribution, To those who have sullied your name; The Great Trial has begun.” So are the words spoken by the Tyrant of Avos to the Archons - this city has found its purpose. No longer will its people lay in the shadows of its ruins, but instead strive to carve out their own destiny. A destiny carved out from the corpse of an Empire - the Anakhta Elraion, from which much of the Avosian population hail from, either in seeking out a better life, or fleeing imperial conquests and subjugations. It is of no surprise then, of how deeply rooted Avosian contempt is regarding the imperial menace. Their ways of life once ruined by this empire, forced to flee to all corners of the earth as their nations were consumed - with only a fortunate few lucky enough to have congregated within Avos. Now the Empire seeks to continue what it did not finish, as their colonies expand ever so closely to the ruined city. Inaction in the presence of this adversity will be the cause of the end of this new hope. It is the obligation, the duty, of every Avosian to resist imperial advance, to send them back from where they came, and to manifest the Avosian destiny throughout Gerakunos. There is nothing greater in life than to sacrifice one’s self to the greater good. The Varisas-district of Avos, A largely unexplored and uninhabited portion of Avos situated in its south-east, Varisas is the site of many ancient temple-like structures, and is hypothesized to have been the center of worship for whatever precursor civilization built Avos. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Great Trial, is a concept forwarded by the Tyrant of Avos that details the need for the destruction of the Anakhta Elraion by the hands of an enlightened Avosian Empire in the future. It is an extremist ideology fueled by hatred brought upon by imperial invasions. It is popular within the Archonites of Avos, but has yet been made mainstream throughout the City-State. ACTIONS Available Avosian Drakhma: 120,150g Following petitions made by several outlying rural communities regarding pirating activities on the shores of the city-state, the Tyrant formally approves the dispatchment of Avosian troops to secure the national peripheries. The Amentasivos, numbering 4 Regiments at 2000 soldiers capacity, are specifically dispersed to the affected settlements, as well as other potential targets - they are led by the Archon Tyros. Another division is sent out along with the infantry, though they branch out to a different operation; 1 unit of melee cavalry along with an attachment of ranged cavalry are dedicated to monitoring the open stretches of coast lines between settlements. Working in tandem with local government, central authority in Avos also begins the establishment of Citizen Watch. These organizations enlist the aid of able-bodied citizens in affected areas to work part-time in alerting communities of incoming raids and to assist in their defense alongside state troops. They are paid fair, but still minimum wages, and are supplied with light, left-over, equipment. Further improvements to the system are expected, but will have to wait till the production of more resources. During this process, resources are dedicated to establishing an intelligence network dedicated to uncovering the source of these pirates and other like-minded vagabonds. Agents of the Archons are sent throughout the neighbouring regions under various identities, interworking with one another as they narrow their leads. These agents are provided any funds they may require, with a portion of the state’s budget afforded to them. And from the decrepit dockyards of the Avosian port-district of Narin, the city-state’s meager fleet of 5 Hemiolias sally forth, as they begin to patrol the northern coastline of the nation on the lookout for any abnormalities. [MOD INTERACTION - RESPONSE TO PIRATES | 4000 Amentasivos, 1000 cavalry, 5 Hemiolias deployed for peacekeeping | Intelligence gathering begins, 10,000g | Citizen’s Watch, 25,000g, 1 iron] An Avosian representative and his entourage are sent to the isle nearest to Avos of which the League of Guramkos controls. Should the League be amiable to the presence of the Avosian diplomat, the individual portrays himself calmly and with cordial behaviourism, though noticeably lacks any sort of grace that may be befitting of Guramkosian cultural interactions. They bring with them a desire for continued peace, along with the proposition of establishing some sort of trade network between the two political entities. [NPC INTERACTION - LEAGUE OF GURAMKOS - CONCLUDED OVER PMs] Following a successful interaction with the League of Guramkos, the Avosian diplomat makes his way along the Gerakunos coastline to the Kingdom of Antekroia, following a recently departed convoy of merchants on route to the Principality of Nyre. He takes in the sights of southern Gerakunos, his artistic abilities being of use as he sketches landscapes and documents the local way of life. He makes neat work of this, compiling all the information gathered into a report to be presented to his respective Archon when he returns to Avos. Eventually the caravan reaches Antekoria, leading to the diplomat presenting himself to whoever may take him in. Introductions are made, and the diplomat explains his purpose of arrival - the need to facilitate trade between their two nations, especially the purchasing of resource goods to assist in the expansion of Avos. [NPC INTERACTION - KINGDOM OF ANTEKROIA- CONCLUDED OVER PMs | TRADE CARAVAN SENT FROM ANTEKROIA TO AVOS, 8 STONE, 6 IRON, 38,000g COST] With parts of the ruined city now able to commit to the mass production of trading goods, it also begins the distribution of such goods to friendly nations that have had accepted trading rights. It currently takes advantage of imperial leniency to send caravans through its borders as it has been doing so far, but with the Great Trial in its infancy, that being the eventual outcome of total war, conflict may soon embroil the region as the city-state prepares itself to launch a crippling blow to the colonies - effectively cutting Avos off from the rest of the mainland. To ensure the safe arrival of the caravans, a unit of seasoned heavy cavalry are embedded with the merchants. [Caravan sent to the Princedom of Nyre, 24 craftwork goods, 15 blackgoods | Protective detail, 1 unit of seasoned Heavy Melee-Cavalry] As the caravans proceeded along the coast to Nyre, it also established a tradepost. Primarily founded to protect Avosian interests in the region, it is also planned to become a site to exert the ruined city’s influence in the region as the tradepost grows in population. [14,100g, 2 stone] Pirate activities are of great concern to the Archons, and therefore, it is of no surprise that the navy must be bolstered to defend against such a threat. Therefore, within a derelict, barely functionable drydock in Avos, a Trireme commences construction. [7500g, 2 lumber] Following recent prospecting success, Archon Kyran organizes a survey corp for the unearthing of Old Avosian history and mysteries. Though the Tyrant has not openly expressed such, they have a palpable desire to uncover the origins, and cause of ruins for Avos, as well as any other notes of importance. And so with the backing of the Tyrant, a sizable portion of the state’s semiannual budget is set aside to establish and organize this government initiative into the ruins. [30,000g to expand and continue prospecting in Old Avos for further lore fragments and other tidbits] An intelligence unit of a national scale is formed under the oversight of Archon Uilos. It currently consists only of a framework, and is still very much in its infancy. 5550g left The Archon of War, Kyros, is the Tyrant’s foremost subordinate, second in authority to the Archon of Order himself in government affairs. Application: Discord: seannie#5413 Nation Type: City-State Nation Flag: Nation Name: Avos Are you in the Elraic Empire?: Niet Nation Culture: Composed of a vast array of refugees fleeing expansion of the Anakhta of Elraion, the Polis of Avos is a converging point of multiple cultures organized by the Archon of Order, Tyran. Out of this melting point comes the formation of a new kind of peoples, who have begun naming themselves after their patron city, Avos - Avosians. Though exiled from their homelands within the vast reaches of the Elraion Empire, they still normally adhere to the doctrines of the Sun, Sehula, and the Moon, Mehnos, but reject the imperial legends of Elraion - refusing the divine authority of the Emperors and Empresses. Under the guidance of the Archon of Sehula and Mehnos, Kyran, the peoples of Avos have taken to venerating the individualistic self, and its place in a collective commune in order to best worship the Sun and Moon. With great emphasis placed on the enlightenment of the self, great freedom is a natural inherent right of all within Avos - slavery is non-existant, as is any other sort of discriminations. But with the constant skirmishing with the colonies of Elraion, these ethics are tested as the threat of invasion looms over the ancient ruins. The Archons will surely lead Avos to glory. Nation History: Avos is the culmination of hatred for the Anakhta Elraion. When the Empire began its conquests, it displaced a great population of peoples throughout the Mesogean Sea. A portion of this diaspora managed to scramble together its worth within the ruins of Avos - what used to be a great metropolis on the northern shoreline of the Sea, now bordering the new colonies of the Empire on Hekoretlos. Original settlement was wrought with chaos, as the various ethnicities and cultures bickered with one another, with the occasional armed conflict breaking for the lordship of the ruins. It is at this point that a man named Tyran arrives within Avos - with him an entourage of individuals who would later become the Archons of the City. The origins of Tyran is unknown, but it is rumoured that he was a disgraced governor of the Elraion Empire and that his Archons were the subordinates of his tenure. With their arrival, the City of Avos was subjected to a flurry of subterfuge and political actions, resulting in the quick installation of a new order within the ruins. The Archons were established and under the enigmatic guidance of the Tyrant, the inhabitants were subjugated to them - and though they rule absolute as tyrants, their reigns are reasonable and effective. With the expansion of Elraion on Hekoretlos, conflict is no doubt a future for the city. The first settlers of Avos arrived in 1033 - Tyran in 1038, leading to the starting point of 1048. Whatever its name, Avos must have once been a great wonder of the world - its newfound population only able to settle a quarter of it so far. Fractured spires reach towards the skies and what seem to have been great palaces dot the hills the ruins lay upon. Further, a wide river flows through the heart of the city, where occasional fortune is bestowed upon those lucky enough to have dredged up ancient artefacts. It is a mysterious city, one which has its Archons searching for its history. Easier attempts to form a Great City? Idk. BOINKED
  5. Bundesrepublik Almaland In response to the advent of rampant terrorism throughout Avestival, Almania has sent a task force of Military Police to assist the United Republics of Emritia. Though much of the actual response to the terror attacks are left entirely up to Emritian officials, the Almanian Task Force's purpose was largely just for good-will and diplomacy. A foreign police agency having a hand in domestic law enforcement would do no one any good, and so the Task Force was regulated to menial tasks. 9. Bundesrepublik Almaland “Thou shalt not suffer a kaiju to live.” A common creed of the Almanian Government. The Kaiju threat has long gone through intensive campaigns of propaganda within the Bundesrepublik, so deeply villainizing these foreign creatures that hatred against their kind has seeped its way into every fabric of Almanian society. There are no toys, no cartoons, no shows depicting Kaijus in any fair or playful light; they are regarded as demonic monsters of chaos and destruction, beliefs indoctrinated into the minds of the populace at a young age. It is from these Kaijus that a unique culture developed from the fallout of their invasions and the decades long civil war; a society composed of solidarity, community and orderly mindsets. And an overwhelming desire to exterminate the Kaijus, wherever they may be. Which is exactly what was done when reports flooded the Parliament of a Category 2 Kaiju advancing on the Xi’an Provinces. Though not particularly fond of the Fujianese, due to being in the Emritian sphere of influence, such concerns are dispelled by the appearance of rogue Kaijus. Therefore, a task force of a hundred Icarus Suits, led by one of the finest Aces of the Republic, were dispatched alongside the Order of Drakengard; upholding their creed. 10. Bundesrepublik Almaland “And we are live!” was the first words heard throughout the Republic as its citizens turned on their televisions, and other devices. The camera panned outwards to reveal a colossal structure, stretching forth along the land for as far as the eye could see; The Alamandian Wall. A crowd had gathered upon its ramparts, which was wide enough to look as if it were a normal highway, which it partially was during its construction days. A key feature of this crowd was its arrangement - a large central podium, two Icarus frames, flags of all Alliance nations, and its unique cast of actors. It was a State Address, done so by the Chancellor of Almania, Konrad Meier. The Great Kaiju Wall of Almania was formally completed, stretching from coast to coast. Such a momentous day it was, that delegates from all around Aestival paid witness to such an event. The ceremony commenced with a 121-gun salute, a cacophony of artillery roaring forth along the length of the wall. In timely formation, Jets flew above, releasing the colors of the Republic in the air. The event was more of a show of Almanian force than anything else. “Citizens of Almania, Peoples of Aestival. We come here gathered today in celebration of one of mankind’s greatest achievements. One more step taken to thwarting the Kaiju threat, and returning to our dominance of the world as one species...” The Chancellor spoke on, stoically and composed - professionalism at its core. He was flanked by Unit Nachzeher, and Unit Alp, the two most fearsome Icarus Suits in the Republic, piloted by their Aces, Wilhelm Ader, and Heinrich Roul, who sat on the edge of their cockpits. The two frames were painted in the same stripes as the Republic; the Black, White, and Yellow. Their shields at the side, and Icarus rifles in hand. Television companies would document a whopping 20 million Almanians tuned in to see the ribbon-cutting ceremony - laying weight on the importance of that day. The Wall had deeper meanings to it however, a nation so traumatized by the horrors of the depths that its response would be to hide them away from sight behind exorbitant structures. Following the conclusion of the ceremony, Chancellor Meier was flown back to New Alia - formally declaring his disapproval of the appointment of Kornograv to the Alliance of Nation’s General Secretary. A lengthy tirade ensued, of which the Chancellor took time to explaining the evils of Trentism based ideologies, and its effects it will have in corrupting the already weakening Alliance. The Republic had developed a strong disdain for the political extremes ever since the devastating Almanian Civil War concluded, and have since voiced their opinions on such on the International Theater. Though, it was just another day in Konrad’s tenure as Chancellor, a position he’s held for the past six years, the repeated monotony of it all. However, in all those years, the sight of New Alia from the top of Parliament Spire never failed to impress. Towering above the Almanian Capital, one could see all of its machinations. It was an endless sprawl, continuously expanding ever since its destruction following D-Day - it had adopted a modern Emritian layout scheme in its design and architecture, infusing Almania’s history and culture within it. It was masterfully regimented, lowering the rate of crime, poverty, and other societal issues, the unemployed made to work in reconstruction camp as the demand for labour never ceased. It presented to the world a modest and clean metropolis, its citizenry kept in line by overwhelming surveillance and policing. It’s underbelly, Old Alia, would be an entirely different topic for discussion. Judging by the dull state of affairs in Almania; the State of the Union was strong. The worst affliction of the day being repetition and boredom. One last congratulatory hurrah is given in celebration of the Edison Plan’s final conclusion. The bond between the Almanian Republic and the Emritian Republics having been solidified in the eyes of the public. Now free from the ‘shackles’ of foreign governments, Almania was free to design its own new destiny. Discord Name; YOU WHAT Nation Name: Bundesrepublik Almaland Federal Republic of Almania Government Type: Federal Parliament Bundesrat Bundestag Leader: The 4th Federal Chancellor of Almania, Konrad Meier Culture: Central German Almaanians History: The Almaanians of Almanland have a long and exhaustive history upon Aestival. Once ancient tribes, turned Kingdoms, and eventually an autocratic Empire, Almania’s late iteration. With much of Almania’s land bordering the open oceans, the Kaijus that appeared after Devastation Day laid waste to the old Empire - completely overwhelming any sort of defenses the Imperial Militaries could dispatch. The old Capital of the Empire, Alia, was situated upon the coast in the far east of the peninsula, and so was subjected to destruction. The Imperial Household would not survive the attack, and would be exterminated by the Kaijus. The devastation brought upon D-Day granted the Empire no respite, and a vacuum of power soon ensued - even in the face of annihilation, Man’s greed knew no boundaries. It was during this time that the Empire had completely collapsed, the old order being wiped out in the process. The Princes, Dukes, and aristocracy would flee from Almania with their wealth and escape to the United Principalities of Chryse, leaving behind a country tearing itself apart as extremists organizations rose from the rubble. The Unitarian People’s Fascists would coalesce, and the same with their counterparts, Trentist Communists - while a third party formed quietly in the background, Republicans espousing Emritian Ideals. The civil war lasted a bloody 14 years, from 0 P.D to 14 P.D, accentuated by the ceaseless hordes of Kaijus washing up on Almanian shores. It was not described by epic battles, but rather sporadic battling, as the major factions had fought under the shadows of the abysmal creatures since D-Day. It would be the Republicans that would come out on top, having received the backing of the Emritian Republics, as well as the timely assistance of the Drakengard Icarus Squadrons, who opened a new front against the Kaijus in Almania as the Republicans struck for the control of the nation. Republican forces would finish the war in simultaneous attacks against the Unitarian and Trentist Capitals - one attack led solely by Almanians, and the other by a minor Emritian Expeditionary Force. The more in-land Capital of the Unitarian Party, Rikkland, was near instantly captured by the Republicans, who had dropped onto the city in their Icarus Suits from a multitude of airships. The Republican flag was planted upon the destroyed ruins of the old Imperial Reichstag building, signifying the close in one of the chapters of the war. The Emritians held no such luck to their advantage, the Trentist held City of Huben laid near to the coast still, and the Expedition’s approach brought with them many Kaijus to the area. What ensued was one of the most catastrophic battles of the Almanian Civil War; a City with a population of over three million Almanians was to be indiscriminately ravaged in the span of less than a week. Intense carpet bombardment accompanied by Kaiju intervention would mark the death of Huben, out of the millions, only a few hundred thousand civilians would survive the conflict. It nevertheless led to the destruction of the Trentist Ideology within Almania, with many of its members fleeing to the Fujians or Yashida. The day the fighting was declared over, is solemnly remembered as Huben Memorial Day, 14 P.D.. With the apparatus of state now in the hands of the Republicans, the Federal Republic of Almania was declared in the year of 16 P.D, after a couple years of reconstruction. States were carved up from the ruins of the Almaland Empire, and a unified fight against the Kaijus persisted. However, the Republic had its glaring faults, namely in its affairs with the post civil war rehabilitation. In order to ensure stability in the face of the Kaiju, the first Chancellor, Elbrecht Hart, ordered for the widespread executions and deportation of any and all political dissidents in an event known as Black Purge. Though Chancellor Hart was capable of winning the civil war, he was incapable of managing the torn country that came with such a victory. His actions allowed the economy to remain in shambles, and the Almanian people continued to starve. A new civil war seemed to be on the horizon. However, Hart would be killed by a Trentist Radical on his first anniversary as Chancellor - in a revenge plot. In the following rush for the Chancellorship, the Bundestag was threatened to undergo the same chaos it was dealt during the start of the civil war 17 years ago. To prevent such anarchy from repeating itself, a new faction made its presence violently known in Almanian Politics; the Reconstructional Federal Police. Following the end of the Civil War, the newly formed Police had seeped its way into all fabrics of society, and also was responsible for carrying out the Black Purge. It had amassed itself a considerable amount of experience, knowledge, control, and had been persuaded to exert such onto the Parliament. The persuader would become the 2nd Chancellor of Almania, Anton Amman. Lauded in modern times as the Father of the Nation, Anton proved himself to be a miracle unto the Almanian People. He was quick to deal with the unrest, implementing various reforms, and a strong use of secret police. The Order of Drakengard were granted full authority of the nation’s response to the Kaiju Invasions, securing its territories as most Kaijus were driven off or exterminated by Order pilots. Furthermore, in return for mining rights, Nephilite and other unshackled resource harvesting privileges, the Emiritian Republic commenced the Amman Plan - which saw the Chancellor’s ambitions for a revitalized Almania come to fruition in the face of the Kaiju threat. The Aid Plan was structured over the span of a decade, capable of responding to regional crises and needs as they occurred. It was also during this time that the construction of the Alamandian Wall commenced, a bulwark designed to forevermore dispel any Kaiju threat from the Aestivian oceans. In the year 28 P.D, 12 years into his Chancellorship, Amman suffered both a heart attack and a stroke, and was shortly after declared deceased. He was succeeded by his successor, in an absolute majority election, Michael Stadler. His tenure saw to the eventual dispatching of nearly all Kaiju in the Almanian Region, alongside with the Order of Drakengard. Observing the doctrines and techniques of the Order used in battle, Chancellor Stadler implemented similar schemes within the Bundesarmee - molding and shaping an efficient anti-Kaiju force in his part of Aestival. The next couple years were dedicated solely to the eradication of the Kaiju from the coastal regions of Almania, and victoriously concluding in this endeavour with the rest of the world when the Devastation War ended in the year of 34 P.D. Seeing his life goal concluded, Chancellor Stadler peacefully retired to the interior, resigning to the next Chancellor, Konrad Meier. From the onset of his tenure, Chancellor Meier was subjected to the overburdening of the expansive Bundesarmee and the Bundespolizei. His austerity measures led to many widespread riots, which were subsequently quelled by the introduction of Icarus Suits in policing activities, by one Friedrich Haunts, Minister of the Federal Police. The previously established foreign control of Almania’s resources were nationalized entirely, leading to sanctions being placed upon the Republic, mainly by the Emritians - which were quick to be vetoed by Fujian and Drakengard delegates in the Security Council of the Alliance. The following years saw the conclusion of the Alamandian Wall, an engineering marvel of the new post Devastation Aestival - as well as the general sense of stability returning to the populace. Mech units rolled out are designed in ways that fit this defensive mindset. Most frontline Icarus models utilize a shield, from which they can mount their Nephilite-powered miniature railguns, and provide amplified firepower from this stationary position. 12. Sig reads on with a sense of melancholy, leaning back into in his padded chair by the fire as he finished the entirety of Lorina Carrion’s entries – now acquainted with the life of a distant ancestor; their joy, misery, and everything else attached. It took some time, but the King’s expression would indeed lessen, once again returning to its usual neutrality, an emotionless blank state. He twirls about a clean quill through his fingers, occasionally ruffling the end of the feather along the bottom of his nose as he stared idly at the wall ahead of him. Having spent enough time enthralled by his thoughts, the thinker folds the compilation of diary entries upon itself, flicking his quill away and pushing himself off of his chair, moving towards the bookcase he had originally retrieved this book from. He slides the book into its place, concluding on a chapter of his life and finally doing away with such important texts that had helped him become the man he was today.
