I’ll bring discussion to your pictures and points here. The Jayaman building could, and would be better off in a city, which Sofetios is perfectly capable of doing. He gets a place every map and goes inactive with it, like the giant shop he has in Carolustadt. The flower autoshop is fine, but I’ve never seen him rp in there. Don’t brandish your ents as an example of “good” freebuild. You gave people a lot of grief over them. The desert temple is a semi-OOC structure similar to the GM graveyards. Some implementation of it will always come about. Holm is a place that would have gotten a successful charter. Belvitz exists because staff wouldn’t allow Human nation placement on the spot it is at, explicitly because the area is freebuild. Semicompetent people seized the location, then lost it, and then the settlement was revitalized again by Adria. Now it is declining again. Having the imperial capital there would have been great, instead of the constant freebuild sprawl and swap. And I have no idea what Halsworthy is, I don’t know of anyone ever living there.

A scribe from Carolustadt stands as witness to a transfer of property, penning this record for posterity and truth. 9th of the Grand Harvest, 1686 Cracked by unwithstandable pressure from the weight of Imperial legions and ducal levies, the owner of Sun’s Smile keep and the nearby palisade crumbles to an irresistible offer: Sell his doomed holdings to a nearby vassal of the emperor, thus invalidating the war declared, saving his land and person from sure destruction. The sum was tempting, even for property in such a precarious position, so the previous owner agreed. Two parties, buyer and seller, meet with I, Soren Zitronite-Haas, as witness, to officially transfer the deed of land. A terse conversation starts their meeting, followed by an exchange of coin and well-preserved parchment. And by that, the deal is done.

Sigil of the House Basarab Thus follows the eloquent and moving speech orated by Baron Barnabas Basarab at the start of the Adrian Duma, hosted on the 13th of Malins Welcome, 1686, To these lords assembled, I state my greetings. If you do not yet know me, you have my sympathies. I will allow you to behold myself, Barnabas Basarab at full splendor and newly invigorated. I am a recluse, shedding all obligations to wallow in the hustle and bustle of our Belvitz in favor of more remote and serene environments, such as my country manor. Though once again you wake me and summon me from my thoughts and contemplations to elect another Duke. Before we proceed, I must say a few words and I beg you lords to not interrupt, lest you stoke my ire. I was born in exile. My father lost fortune, fame, and titles with his ill gotten ideology that his choice for King would be better than another man’s. He left me with nothing but a name, the name of my family. Barbas was his name, the son of Basarab. Through my youth, I was tutored by a man dubbed Pathros, who was a famed mathematician and he who dreamed of the stars. Though fortune favored me not, and through my mother’s curse; the one that Yakov the Accursed siblings placed on him, and the one that leads the Lords of Ivan to wroth I was betrayed. Whence my mother’s pension ran dry he left me to boot. There I met a troupe of performers, whom I joined to write poems and plays and on occasion perform the somber roles. And there yet again, my curse gripped me. For whence we performed the play dubbed Siegmund’s Lament within the confines of the Emperor’s court, he had the members of my troupe drawn and quartered. I was only spared through the intercession of my cousin, the Commandant of the Felsen Watch. The rest of my tale follows a similar story, a somber procession of trials and tribulations of which the details are not important. Though, my fellow lords I beg you this; acknowledge that I know in my heart, in my mother’s heart that I know what it is to be cursed. I now move from speaking of my person to my Duchy; the Duchy of Adria. It’s beginnings lie in Woldzimir; the fortress that withstood the full might of Renatus forced King Maric into a truce. The Lords Vladov know the tale best, and it is with them that Adria came into fruition. Through fruitful diplomacy it grew to encompass the Lords Vladov, Sarkozic, and Stafyr. The Duchy grew in strength, wealth, and authority through the silver tongues of our predecessors. As the might of the Duchy grew, the envy of it’s adversaries grew. Within new lands, a new seat was established; the City of Brelus. What comes next, we all know from stories and legends of days past. Some state that Adria in it’s splendor asserted that it should be the foremost power within Humanity and claim the Kingship. Others claim that the Savoyard king forced their hand into rebellion; taking away their privileges and assaulting their persons. Though what is uncontested is that this desire for power unbidden proved to be the cause of its downfall. They wished to show their force, they wished to prove themselves, and they caused their own destruction. Since this destruction, the title of Adria has lied uncontested and unheld. It was only when John Sarkozic had assumed lands and claimed the City of Belvitz as his, did he claim the title of his great-great-great-grandsire Franz the Faultless. He ruled fairly, and thus was given the epithet of the Good for his modest rule and humble heart. It appears that the curse of his forebearers did not grip him. For as it stands now; one in three dukes avoid misfortune. And if history is followed, the next two Dukes will follow shortly in suit. For as Franz the First and John the First are alike, so are Hugues the First and Joseph the First. Both driven to conflict by their folly, and from their conflicts they both caused ruin for themselves and their people. From what I understand, the peasantry abandoned the Lord Joseph in favor for a competing lordling; the Lord of Lorraine whom was also the bane of Adria in ages past. Now what I say to thee, Lords and men alike; that the name of Adria is cursed. I say this; and listen to me now and remember my warnings. Adria will fall to peril within the next two elected Dukes. Thus, I state my intent; to dissolve the Duchy as we know it and place our focus to our people. Embrace our republican values and proclaim the Free City truly free. The rest of the speech was unrecorded due to the loud uproar sparked in court by the preceding sentence. Barnabas vanished in to a fell cloud, and has not been seen since.

Your View: Warclaims, Warfare and Casus Bellis
ARCHITECUS replied to Narthok's topic in News & Announcements Archive
CB’s are an OOC construct. They guide and limit RP action and thought to fit their criteria. This is an inversion of what is fun and proper. RP should come first, where declarations of war are determined valid or not by a presiding body that hates every nation equally. -

Petition to replace Hou-Zi or Kha with Ratmen
ARCHITECUS replied to Slothtastic's topic in Atlas OOC Archive
On a serious note, I’d like to see ratmen implmented as a sort of semi-event race. They could be openly and easily registered for during times of swarming, so that for the most part they aren’t always lingering around, yet still create times of rat glut to have skaven fun during. Similar to the harbinger pvp stuff, though with a bit less restriction and upkeep required. Though I’d like to modify the standing “Ratiki” lore, because it’s a bit pathetic and does ratmen a disservice. -

Mister Locklear, apparent organizer and head of the eco-terrorist organization known as the Natural Union, had been killed. However, this simple Locklearish cattle herder was more than he appeared. The true identity of this man was Iratius Therist, an international agent of chaos hailing from Aeldin. His experience seemed fledgling, though, as he wound up in over his head and rightfully slaughtered. Furthermore, the organization’s networking and funding had been severed with the abdication of a certain regional noble. While the group’s stated water problems still exist, a strange shipment of exotic insect eggs had been discovered and confiscated in a western port... With its heads severed, the Natural Union is left without any official direction, and will assuredly pass in to nothingness.

The Natural Union: Our Humble Demands We, a concerned and conscious people united in one Natural Union, wish to open dialogue with the Duchy of Ardennes and the Margravate of Lorraine, so that the health and beauty of the western Baltas Basin may be preserved in order to let its denizens thrive and prevent such missteps that invoked the menace known as the September Prince. Our specific items to be discussed are as follows: The cessation of threats and hostility against the denizens of the Western Baltas Basin. The development of an amicable agreement that will allow the continued residence of both the native folk and the new settlers from Summerhall. The filling of the artificial moat which has sapped wellwater from the region and plagued the region with biting insects. The removal of the dirt and stone constructions laid upon the Baltas Basin pasture that has deprived small animals a habitat and livestock grazing land. Those who sign below volunteer to join in protest for the protection and preservation of the Western Baltas Basin, and agree to aid in resistance against any violent force employed by the lord in Ardennes. Penned and signed by Mr. Locklear, a concerned cattle herder of the Western Baltas.

The land between the newly erected Summerhall and the river Baltas has been struck by a devastating blight. The wells have run dry, the pasture has been trampled, and biting insects swarm Man and beast alike. The lord in Ardennes has seen fit to surround his keep with an artificial moat of no good taste, which lies muddy and stagnant, ever pumping precious water from the earth to fill its great, stinking body. And since depriving the folk of water is not enough, the unflowing moat is host to legions of bloodsucking insects who pester the surrounding region with itching and illness. Furthermore, in order to lay claim to the once fertile pasture lands, the lord in Ardennes threatens the long-standing local residences with destruction should they not vacate without compensation. For these reasons, I ask all those residing nearby, and all those parties concerned for the wellbeing of our natural land, to band together in our Union for Nature’s Protection against the lord in Ardennes’ careless pillaging. I would ask any joining our cause to be willing to peacefully demonstrate, but also prepare to resist any violent force the lord in Ardennes may employ. This union will stand until the lord in Ardennes chooses to reach either a peaceful compromise with the folk and the land itself, or works to revert all damage he had done to the area’s nature. In direct terms, our “Natural Union” will be directly preserving the livelihoods of the folk threatened by the lord in Ardennes, specifically the small settlement used by the Scarlet Crusaders. We extend our careful hand to all those dependent on the land, and will work to restore its health and beauty from here on. ========================================= Name of the Treaty: Union for Nature’s Protection ========================================= Type of Treaty: [Defensive Pact] ========================================= [Nation / Freebuild] [Name: Natural Union ] [Nation / Freebuild] [Name: Scarlet Crusade ] ========================================= Date of Signing: 13th of the Deep Cold, 1685 ========================================= Mr. Locklear scrawls his signature, representing the Natural Union.

THE UNOFFICIAL BRING BACK NEXUS POOL
ARCHITECUS replied to Man of Respect's topic in Atlas OOC Archive
I really liked the parts of nexus that were privy only to individual players who knew the dev responsible for implementation. Like when a guy somehow completely coincidentally got the recipe for a +100 attack potion in game and used it for failrp and pvp murder -
1. Azdrazi isn't a form of magic 2. Azdrazi are majority Human 3. There are at least 14 current Azdrazi, not all active, but that 14 number doesn't include former players
