  2. When the end comes, we shall inherit the dust and the ash. That is why they hate us. Intoxicated on voices, their words are of no consequence. Sober from reality, are minds are free to realise their insignificance. This is our truth, and all else is the dust and the ashes. And they will belong to us.

  3. The Tazman Republic The raid on the Andorians had definitely gone sour, indeed. Through some careful negotiation, the Tazman fleet was able to leave the Andorian waters unscathed, lessening the cost of freedom to leave to a mere 1,000 gold things. Still, though the cost of the venture was small, it was a cost, and therefore the Tazmans took it as a sting to their pride. They sailed home, empty-handed and sombre. However, the raid had shown the Tazman Republic had more to gain with working with the Andors, who had a powerful airfleet that could not be beaten by naval superiority alone. As such, the Andorian offer of a non-aggression pact is accepted, and a defensive alliance and trade proposal is returned. A trade post is built on behalf of the Republic in the capital of Kuanesh. [-2000] Surprisingly, the Nuzilund Islands had all agreed to join the Tazman Republic without the need for conflict. Perhaps they were already envious of the prosperous Tazman people, or perhaps they saw that there was no way out but to submit. Regardless, they are all swiftly integrated, and administrative advisers are moved over to the islands to help in bringing them up to par with the rest of Tazlund. Back home, the building of a national trade hub is completed, the state having more control over the mercantile affairs within Tazlund. However, the government desired not only to control their trade, but to bolster it and spread it's influence. As such, the construction of a national stock exchange is commissioned and started. [-25000] The Andorian raid had shown that at the very least, a greater naval presence would be required to maintain Tazman influence. An expansion of the navy is started, the specifics of which are as follows: 4 Destroyers (Completed in 2 pages, -20,000) 6 Frigates (Completed in 3 pages, -15,000) 6 Corvettes (Completed in 4 pages, -3,000) Which will bring the size of the Tazman navy up to: 2 Dreadnoughts 4 Cruisers 10 Destroyers 18 Frigates 22 Corvettes Additionally, the need for a greater airforce has been recognised, and an airplane factory begins construction. [-50,000] And then, a first for the Tazman people. A colonial venture is sent to the mainland, to establish Tazman sovereignty on it for the first time in the history of the island. The people carry high hopes for a better life, and their vessels are escorted by 2 Frigates and 4 Corvettes, taken from the fleet sent to bring in the Nuzilunders. Treasury: 95,000 + 30,000 - 25,000 - 50,000 - 38,000 - 1,000 - 2,000 = 9,000 Manpower: 200,000
  4. The Tazman Republic The Tazman Republic was born out of a union of many petty barons and counts known as Signurs that each controlled a chunk of the island of Tazlund. After many hundreds of years of conflict and bloodshed between the differing Signuries, one Signury emerged as a clear dominant force. This was the Signury of Sondolt, one which waxed and waned in power with the changes in rulers from statesmen to warmongers, but even at it's weakest it remained apart from the rest. Eventually, the final Signur of Sondolt rose to power, a man named Rykurd Weelzun. With a brilliant mind he struck the perfect balance between diplomacy and aggression, and by the end of his life he had united every Signury of Tazlund through conflict and conference under his benevolent yet firm rule which radiated out from his capital of Hubard, dying in 1313A.N. His reign saw him become a national hero, and he was honoured with a statue being erected in Hubard's centre. After Rykurd's death, his son Janiz came to power, already having a high standard to match after his father's impressive and successful reign. He failed miserably to meet it, and after a mere 5 years his unpopularity reached a level that provoked a popular revolt throughout Tazlund. The Signurs secretly sent arms to these rebels, expecting a restoration of their autonomy, but after the storming of the Royal Palace in 1318A.N., the Tazman Republic was declared, with the leaders already making rousing speeches of freedom and equality for all men, much to the horror of the Signurs. Seeing that their time would come to an end should the Tazman Republic remain, the Signurs collectively attacked the revolutionaries, resulting in a brutal and bloody civil war that raged on for 10 years. However, the determination and popular support of the Republicans eventually won out, and the Signurs were forced to sign the Treaty of Lonztun removing all the powers of their titles, and were then executed by firing squad for treason in 1328A.N., and peace was brought once again to Tazlund. After 72 years of the signing of the Treaty of Lonztun, and the Tazman Republic has prospered and suffered as any nation does. In this period, the Republic's identity as a naval and mercantile nation with the willingness to be aggressive with outsider nations has become even more pronounced, and now it looks to foreign shores to bring affluence and ascendancy. The Twin Fleets of Tazlund were moored in Hubard's harbour, recalled from their normal patrol duties. The Tazman Parliament had recalled them, a new task for them taking priority. The 1st Fleet was to sail to the Nuzilund Islands to the south, to demand their accession to the Tazman Republic, or force it. Each is promised full status as one of the Signuries with the right to police and administrate autonomously, with the ability to pass laws so long as they did not conflict with the Tazman Constitution. For many years had their raiders beleaguered the Tazman people, and now they would join the Republic, willingly or not. 1st Fleet: 1 Dreadnought 2 Cruisers 3 Destroyers 6 Frigates 8 Corvettes The 2nd fleet would sail north to the lands of the Republic of Andor, and pillage their coasts. 2nd fleet: 1 Dreadnought 2 Cruisers 3 Destroyers 6 Frigates 8 Corvettes On a completely different front, that of statecraft, several diplomats are dispatched to other nations around the globe. A defensive alliance is offered to the Empire of Oceanis, and in the case of either acceptance or denial a non-aggression pact and trade agreement is offered. The same deal is made with the Republic of Kuanesh. A non-aggression pact is offered to the Pirates of Vrak, promising that the Tazman Republic will allow them to port and will not infringe upon their practices. Trade agreements are offered to ALL NATIONS. At home, the construction of a national trade hub begins, with hopes of effectively organising and bolstering the Tazman trade to better suit the state's aims and needs. ((3 pages)) -25,000 Manpower: 200,000 Money: 100,000 + 20,000 - 25,000 = 95,000
  5. Nation Name: The Tazman Republic Culture(ie. Latin influence/Asian Influence/Etc.): Originated from Tasmanian (Anglospheric culture) History: (soz for **** writing it's like midnight out here) The Tazman Republic was born out of a union of many petty barons and counts known as Signurs that each controlled a chunk of the island of Tazlund. 8. The answer is no for both. The former is essentially warding, but far more powerful as it covers a whole range of magics, and much easier as you don't have to understand any such magics. So no on that front. The latter is something that should only really be done by processes within the magic, and can already happen. Not to mention the can of lore worms that would have to be opened in order to make that work.
  9. @birdnerdy I fail to see how a rather socially imperialist view is any more tolerant than someone who would have held the same view about gays a few decades ago. "They will accept what is right or they will shut their mouths for fear of others coming down on them." I personally don't want to live somewhere where that view is held and enforced en masse towards anyone. I also question the fact that LGBT culture even exists. It does nothing but cause self-exclusion and instils pride in a trait that is completely out of their conscious control and is really not important. I have as much reason to be proud of being bisexual as I do for being white, or blonde, or blue-eyed, or male, and have even less reason to let being bisexual affect my life than any of those things.
  10. Personally don't think gay marriage should be enforced upon religious institutions, having them be fined for try to adhere to their own beliefs. Obviously if a pastor is okay with it, he should be allowed to hold such marriages, and legal marriages outside of religious institutions are obviously good. That's my view.
