I think a weapon that does more damage to armour than actual health damage would be an interesting idea. What with all the diamond and Iron armour around the concept of running a couple people with weapons that could severly damage these armours quickly could severe as a support weapon, breaking down the "gear = win" meta a bit more.

Ah Mace should be better than swords against heavy armor.
