I swear the contents of this Summons to be true and accurate to the best of my belief before Godan. Signed, Lord Marshal Friedrich Barclay (Drew_doc#8125)
  2. Friedrich looks over the missive as he sat in his office smoking and thinking about the upcoming year of what seemed to be a never ending war against the trolls after the hectic day. "Well then, this is a welcome surprise." He said to himself with a grin as he went back to thinking. His mind lingered on his current strategy as he began to pen it out to debate with his engineers.
  3. Friedrich Barclay lit the letter on fire with the help of Zodd Calliban as he gave it a quick glance over. He then lit a cigarette and let what he had just read fade away out of his mind, uncaring as he had a war against the trolls to think about.
  4. It was a typical morning for Friedrich. He had a bit of an extra strut in his step from the day before when he had managed to make a deal with the rats in the sewers and their rat king. He was up earlier than most and was bring his sister some of his soup as he thought it would be a considerate treat. Friedrich was the first to happen upon his sister's body as he went to deliver it to her. He dropped the bowl and rushed to Marcella's side. What medical training Friedrich had would be for nothing, perhaps if he had been with her and had put aside his duty as Lord Marshal to take more time to help his sister. From a young age, he knew about death. It didn't phase him much when people died; it just built up. However, recently he needed something, anything to go right for him, yet it never happened. First, it had been the loss of the child he had raised and taught to fight; though it was not his, it stung. Then it was his uncle soon after, the man dying under his command during the defense of Reinmar. Had he not foolishly bought into the idea that Brandt couldn't have been killed so quickly, maybe he might still be alive. Third and finally, it was his sister, the girl he grew up with, his flesh and blood that, no matter what, supported him while he supported her. After years of not feeling much after deaths, something inside the man broke.
  5. In the direct aftermath of the death of Brandt Friedrich had decided to bring his men and to charge the trolls which had cause his death. As he charged he felt numb. "Blood for Barclay!" He cried out as he continued to lead the charge. When the other men repeated "Krusae Zwy Kongzem, Blood for Barclay." He had known that Brandt had left his mark, that he would forever go down in history. Bido was later slain, likely the mastermind of the attack, yet Friedrich paid for it with his leg. Despite the high price he knew he had made the right decision.
  6. Friedrich Barclay heard the news as he was preparing to send people out on an Oath Hunt. A part of him broke but he quickly steeled himself at the news and continue on. He led the men out and sent them on his mission. Upon their return he went through the oath as he typically did. Though when it came to the end one line stuck in his mind. "But I shall not falter." The first one of the cadets, the kids that he had partially raised from a young age to be warriors had finally died. Mariya had died before he did, this was something he hadn't expected, she was young, determined, and ambitious. Despite everything that had been thrown at her she never wanted to stop trying to be who she was at heart. For the rest of the day the words hanged in his head as he thought of his sister in arms, the child he had basically raised himself was dead.
  7. Friedrich looked over the missive with a hum as he thought. With a nod to himself he decided to visit his brother in arms in the hospital so that he could talk to him about the current events. Shirren had peaked Friedrich's interest as person now, it was time to pick his brain.
  8. Friedrich Barclay had his typical look of melancholy for these days turn into one of excitement and joy. A bounty was placed, incentive for those to come forwards. He'd go to nail it up with the men's pay chests, they'd surely see it there.
  9. Friedrich Barclay frowned upon reading the statement from the NGS, though such an action could be understood from the events of the saint's day. For now though he simply scanned the piece and did his best to memorize it.
  10. Friedrich sat in his office after talking with his second; he adjusted his spectacles as he watched the fire rage on. The man felt nothing but self-disgust as the crackle of the fire continued. He quietly considered all he had in his life, everything that the man could lose. He hated what he had become to protect what he held dear. The man struggled greatly with the conflict of his morals and his duty. Yet his duty conflicted with itself; his oath and doctrine affirmed his loyalties to the crown, and it also told him never to surrender someone. "Never surrender yourself nor your brothers; bring your honor or death." those are the words he humbled to himself as he struggled with the situation. He had made his decision as a gamble, and he hoped that the scalpel would, in turn, make the right decision.
  11. Friedrich Barclay practices tricks using his cigarette smoke, blowing smoke from his nose and in shapes only to remember that Franz is very anti smoking, thus he decides to not sign up.
  12. Friedrich Barclay looked over missive with a nod "They'll have my men, though I hope this won't all come out of the HRA's pocket." He'd say to himself with a sigh as he looked at the amount of wood the Army had left. Friedrich would then move off to quickly begin to bird his men and women.
  13. Friedrich would light up one of the special cigars that Charlotte had gifted him, this was an occasion that warranted it.
  14. Friedrich Barclay looked over the paper quickly before tossing it into the fireplace of the barracks before mumbling to himself. "There, it'll do more for anyone as kindling than it does as something to read."
  15. It took Friedrich a few days to find out what had happened just as it had taken a few to find out that his sister was even the Lady Palatine. The man was busy with his job and kids and barely had a moment where he wasn’t working on something for the HRA or trying to teach his kids. What tipped him off to something not being normal was the absence of the daily small annoyances by his sister. He’d become accustomed to them as he’d endured them since he was five yet it was their sudden disappearance that after a few days tipped him off that something was off. At first, he welcomed the ceasing of his daily routine of being bothered whether it be rocks being put down his shirt, trying to steal his cigarette, or trying to take his seat over. As the days dragged on, however, concern began to rise in Friedrich's mind as it wasn’t just a ceasing of her mannerisms towards him but instead she was gone completely. He approached the tower in Reinmar that his sister lived in and tried the door. For the first time that he had known the door was open with the lights all had gone out from the simple passage of time. He slowly ascended the tower till he came to the top of it. He waited for a few moments for yelling about how he shouldn’t be in her room or anything but there was none. He simply scanned the room and noticed a few things were missing. The first thing was her hairbrush, the second was her favorite mug, and the last was her bag. As he looked closer he found the letters on the table left for him. Friedrich opened the letter addressed to him and read it in silence. He smiled despite the sorrow he felt. Marcella had finally gotten a bit of what he was trying to tell her years ago. Despite everything they had done to each other, all the insults and punches thrown between the two, he missed his sister and knew that until she came back that a part of his normal life was missing, nothing could quite fit where Marcella fit.
  16. Friedrich Barclay lit up a cigarette as he heard the news "Wish ich could have smoked with him when ich had the chance." he'd say to nobody in particular.
  17. Friedrich Barclay didn't feel poorly at the moment of their acknowledgement having thought that his men would simply subdue the man. Such a things was not the case. He later sat in his office with his head in his hands after having talked to some of his family members. He took out a cigarette from his pack twirling it around as he thought about all that had happened. "Ich knew he would fight to the end. He never would have accepted surrender. ich just did nicht see it in that moment." He mumbled crushing the cigarette in between his fingers. "You will nicht be forgotten and your killer will nicht go unpunished if ich can help it." Friedrich continued to mumble to himself as he stared at the fire in his office as the memory of his silent exchange continued to haunt him. Such a thing would likely do so for the rest of his days.
  18. Friedrich Barclay took a drag from his cigarette as he heard the news throwing it to the ground and stepping on it to put it out. he didn't give soldier that mentioned it to him a response besides that he was dismissed.
  19. Friedrich Barclay lit up a cigarette as he read over the paper. "Well, they did nicht get the theft story wrong, good reporting." He'd say to himself.
  20. Friedrich Barclay Looks over the missive he confiscated from one of the Cadets of St. Karl after a training. "What in the?" he asks himself from his office before going to pass it over to his fellow sergeant Joshua Sirsk. @InkGolem3k
  21. Astoro welcomed Viktoria upon seeing her in the seven skies holding out a drink for her with a smile "Your brothers and sisters in arms welcome you, our Warrior Queen."
  22. Friedrich Barclay cradled his daughter as he heard the news. "You're aunt's namesake has passed on now, little Emelia." Hearing babbling from Emelia, he set her down to rest. "Ich hope you find peace in the seven skies, Marcella." He signed the Lorraine as he sat by watching over his daughter.
  23. The Red Sun Sets The pain was unlike one the veteran had ever felt before. It had begun earlier with a sort of pain in his shoulder which was bearable but quickly was added onto by a feeling of lightheadedness as his breathing got shorter and more ragged. Astoro moved outside to try and get some fresh air, hoping that it would alleviate him. Much the opposite the pain worsened as he tried to alleviate his friend’s concern’s as they both sat down at a nearby table. As more and more time passed the pain grew and so did the concern from his friend Fyodor and the on comer Li Xiu-ying. He gripped his side trying to feign being alright though he admitted the pain not being like any other. As the question of calling a medic was brought up the retired soldier came to terms with what was happening. With what left he had Astoro fished out letters from his overcoat placing them onto the table and tried to tell his friend Fyodor to deliver them for him. However, it was cut short as the man lost consciousness and collapsed hitting the table. Not even a minute later the red sun had set for the last time.
  24. "This, this ist beautiful." Friedrich would say to himself reading the document over with a grin.
