It took Friedrich a few days to find out what had happened just as it had taken a few to find out that his sister was even the Lady Palatine. The man was busy with his job and kids and barely had a moment where he wasn’t working on something for the HRA or trying to teach his kids. What tipped him off to something not being normal was the absence of the daily small annoyances by his sister. He’d become accustomed to them as he’d endured them since he was five yet it was their sudden disappearance that after a few days tipped him off that something was off.
At first, he welcomed the ceasing of his daily routine of being bothered whether it be rocks being put down his shirt, trying to steal his cigarette, or trying to take his seat over. As the days dragged on, however, concern began to rise in Friedrich's mind as it wasn’t just a ceasing of her mannerisms towards him but instead she was gone completely.
He approached the tower in Reinmar that his sister lived in and tried the door. For the first time that he had known the door was open with the lights all had gone out from the simple passage of time. He slowly ascended the tower till he came to the top of it. He waited for a few moments for yelling about how he shouldn’t be in her room or anything but there was none. He simply scanned the room and noticed a few things were missing. The first thing was her hairbrush, the second was her favorite mug, and the last was her bag. As he looked closer he found the letters on the table left for him.
Friedrich opened the letter addressed to him and read it in silence. He smiled despite the sorrow he felt. Marcella had finally gotten a bit of what he was trying to tell her years ago. Despite everything they had done to each other, all the insults and punches thrown between the two, he missed his sister and knew that until she came back that a part of his normal life was missing, nothing could quite fit where Marcella fit.
