  1. "Oi'll be t'ere!" remarks Filibert Applefoot, local halfling and elder of Honeyhill!
  2. Do you like the new horse plugin?
  3. [!] A flier is sent around Karosgrad These your kids? ~These here be some Barclay kids I think. At least that's what they say they be~ These kids were caught breaking Honeyhill's curfew laws and locked up for resisting arrest! Come and take 'em off our hands 'cause Knox knows we don't have enough food to feed them for this long. Hopefully they've learned their lesson from this! -Honeyhill Sheriff Department
  4. Thing is though, if you go back far enough in LOTC history, 90% of the main settlements were once alternative settlements in some form or another. Sure, you can always centralize the server by making only a handful of settlements exist, but on modern LOTC that’d result in even more political stagnation than what we currently have. Unification doesn’t even require the staff to force it. Atlas, a map well known for splintering of communities, saw humanity reform back into a united empire as well as the dwarves getting back together as the confederation of hammers after splintering a ton due to RP reasons. The only problem with splintering on Almaris is that there are no methods to merge communities back together without OOC plotting. You can’t crusade other settlements to unite your peoples like how Renatus did in Atlas. This is what activity checks are supposed to do and it’s been a complete disaster. Activity checks lead to hugboxing and I hope they aren’t what you’re thinking of when you talk about player distribution. IMO players don’t really need to be controlled like that. It really only benefits existing NLs to have such a controlled environment. I wouldn’t want to play on a server where players are managed by staff like resources in a grand strategy game.
  5. "Oi s'ill dink tha' weh should jus' ge' da bigguns involved" remarks Filibert Applefoot
  6. The only major change in Almaris since map launch has been new settlements getting built here and there. There’s been no significant wars and no eventlines impacting any significant portion of the server at once. At least Arcas had a real history to it, as mediocre as that map felt at times. Almaris doesn’t really have much history yet and might not get one until another year has passed.
  7. “Oi shall be t’ere!” exclaims Filibert Applefoot, local halfling of Honeyhill!
  8. Filibert Applefoot smiles "Glad tha' we've been havin' our prac'ice! T'is been helpin' us keep on winnin' t'ese games! Halflin's ferevah!"
  9. [!] A note is pinned to the Honeyhill Noticeboard Harvest Season! ~Ploughing the fields of Honeyhill~ Good day to all! T'is time to harvest our fields once more! May our fields provide plenty for us to eat over the winter! All who be interested in aiding me in this harvest should report to the tavern with a scythe and a will to work! It will be difficult to harvest all of the fields, but the drinking and booze afterwards will make it worth the effort! A bonfire will be lit before the harvest as a good omen to the harvest spirits and Lord Knox himself. May we all eat plenty in these coming months! -Filibert Applefoot, local halfling farmer & stablemaster. ((6 PM EST, tomorrow on November 6th 2021))
  10. The first one looks really weird, second one looks kinda dumb, and the third one looks alright but a tad out of place in the mountains. Not blatant landscarring but certainly not an aesthetic I’d use personally. Not fundamentally much different than the rest of Oren like how Providence is built on top of a giant terraformed plateau.
  11. I don't have all day to do halfling eating RP sadly. Would if I could, but when you do 5 meals a day unless you're spending multiple hours roleplaying through a day it just doesn't work.
  12. time to get back on the halfling event grind

  13. OOC: Hello there! This is an event designed to simulate a single day of halfling life as best as possible. Everybody starts at the beginning of the hour, having just woken up. Their characters then go about their day as they would IRP, eventually falling back to sleep at the end of the hour, which ends the event. Working, eating, talking, and other things your character typically does in a day can and should be roleplayed. There will be a single roleplay prompt happening during the hour to promote interaction, but attending it isn’t mandatory. Feel free to do as you wish. The intention isn’t to attract a large quantity of halflings into one location at a time, but rather to create as much immersion as possible. SoL Event Checklist (Optional): -Wake up ( ) -Eat something ( ) -Do some task ( ) -Interact with someone ( ) -Eat another thing ( ) -Go to sleep ( ) RP: [!] A note is pinned to the Honeyhill Noticeboard! "Anybody wish to help me harvest some honey from the bees who've taken residence in our village? We can make fun sweets with the honey we're able to get! -Dandelion Greenholm" ((Scheduled for 7 PM EST, tomorrow on Monday the 25th of October.))

  15. [!] A note is posted on the Honeyhill Noticeboard DEAR NWA MEMBERS! ~Honeyhill's Stables!~ Claim yar free pony today! Just send a letter to me mailbox and I'll get you one faster than turnips grow after t'a rain (pretty fast, I think)! May our wee halfling village be protected by us proud bounders and all of our new ponies! -Filibert Applefoot, local bounder and manager of the stables.
  16. Me when I realize that people who joined in late 2018 are celebrating their 3rd anniversary on the server
  17. ((image from AlexanderKarcz on DeviantArt)) [!] A report is sent to the leader of the Neighborhood Watch Alliance, Alfie Greenholm. Dear Alfie, today I went on patrol and found some things worth mentioning. 1: Our neighbors have some greenish head on a pike. I hope similar creatures do not trouble us here in Honeyhill 2: I found a wild sheep wandering around the barn. I led it into the pasture. 3: Now that the barn is nearing completion, the old animal pastures are left unused. Perhaps we should find something to put there instead. 4: There are wild wolves 'n Honeyhill! Best keep our sheep nice and safe! 5: The bridge between the library's second level and the rest of the village has fallen! It needs to be repaired, somehow! I hope this is good enough of a report -Filibert Applefoot, bounder of Honeyhill.

  19. Filibert Applefoot receives a copy of this flyer as he rides into town on his mighty steed, Bessie. "Wus dis abou'?" he'd say as he bends down to take one, gnawing on a bit of straw in his mouth.
  20. [!] A note is pinned to the Honeyhill Noticeboard FAIR TOKENS! I've recently found and old stash of tokens from back 'n me days at Knoxville. I've figured that they'd still be good to use for Honeyhill, so I'm going to give 'em out to the village authorities for use as festival 'n partying equipment! I've got three whole sacks of 'em, so I'll be dividing them out as follows: -Half a sack to the Neighborhood Watch, for use as rewards for patrols. -Half a sack to the Sheriff, Sorrel Peregrin, so she can hand out the tokens for good behavior. -Half a sack to the Thain, Monkey Peregrin, so he can use 'em for whatever fair things he be planning. -Half a sack given out 'n mailboxes, just because everybody deserves a good token every now and then! -Rest held 'n reserve just 'n case more be needed for anything. These tokens will be redeemable during fairs and feasts and festivals and all that. Win 'em by winning games, exchange them for fancy booze and all sorts of fair specific knick-knacks! Best o' luck ter ye all! -Filibert Applefoot
  21. [!] A note is pinned to the village noticeboard NEWS FROM DA THAIN! ~The new village prospers!~ Boi decree of the Thain, Monkey Peregrin, our new village is to be called Honeyhill! Now we have a proper name for our village, after all these years of just calling ‘t “the village” ‘n all that! -Filibert Applefoot, local halfling, writing on behalf of the Thain.
