  1. A Traveller’s Guide to the Hamlet of Enswerp [!] Depiction of the Hamlet on a sunny day c. 1964 [Credit and huge thanks to @Borinand @Capace for the awesome build!] THE HAMLET OF ENSWERP Established in 1964, the Hamlet of Enswerp is designed to help protect one of the primary routes into eastern Aevos and the majority of the Apostolic Kingdom’s land. Ser Stefano Montelliano was bestowed the honor of being the hamlet’s first bailiff, and with the help of Crown Prince Charles the region was quickly raised up to provide a home for the local peasantry. As a result, Enswerp has become a suitable place for those seeking a rural lifestyle without the oversight of the Peerage & Nobility. As long as you are of a Canonist lifestyle, then you are welcome to the hamlet. There’s very little that is disallowed, and the community is welcoming of those that seek a new life beyond the norm of other realms and settlements. Within the hamlet, there is an increased degree of autonomy that is uncommon in other human villages. This is due to the relationship that any resident may develop between the Bailiff and themselves. AN OPEN INVITATION WITH BENEFITS There are several, potential reasons why someone would wish to settle in Enswerp. This is not a complete list, but simply some highlights for those that might find themselves interested... I. Low Taxes The Hamlet of Enswerp, despite its prime location, is not a place for those who want to spend colossal sums of golden coins on their upkeep - quite the contrary. The taxes levied on the Hamlet are modest, each citizen is required to contribute an amount of TEN MINAE which, in conversion, amounts to ONE FULL ENSWERP MARK a year. At the moment the Office of the Bailiff does not foresee a tax increase. II. Greater Inclusiveness Our settlement is small, focused on slow development built on the basis of cooperation and good neighbourly relations. It doesn't matter who you are - human, elf, dwarf or gnome, you will always be welcome here as long as you follow the rules of the hamlet. Every day since the village was founded we have been meeting new faces who stop for a while during the long journey through the Lowlands before continuing on their way - this is how we build positive relations and improve our reputation. III. Work Enswerp offers several job opportunities - ranging from farmer to militia member, and perhaps one day the Bailiff himself. However, one should not think that this is the only thing that needs to be done. When the time comes to implement the project ordered by the Bailiff, every resident, regardless of their gender, should get to work to jointly build the village's future. CULTURE & SOCIETY Location: Our village is located on the east bank of the River Leone, right in front of the ruins of Andregrad, once the capital of the Duchy of Stran. The architecture is predominantly wooden, as is the bridge, St. Daniel's Crossing, which allows travelers to cross the river. Once on the east bank of the river, travellers are greeted by a small local tavern - Stefano's Greasy Spoon - where they can rest as well as eat and drink for ONE MINAE. Deep in the woods to the left of the tavern stands Fort Alba, which acts as a local garrison where the Bonnie Brigade, the local militia, is stationed. Further towards the ruins of Andregrad lies the hamlet where the entire, however small, population of Enswerp lives. In addition to the vast farmlands, the settlement itself has a humble smithy, an apiary where we produce our local honey and the church of the Blessed Calliope of Merryweather. Prominent Individuals: Charles Reman Alstion - The Lord of Alba - @Olox_ Ser Stefano Montelliano - The first Bailiff of Enswerp - @Sebbysc Jan Nowak - The Captain of the Bonnie Brigade - @Pork Lembic Urbran - Local Gnome Doctor - @siglms_ Signed, Ser Stefano Montelliano, the Bailiff of Enswerp Jan Nowak, the Captain of the Bonnie Brigade HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Charles Reman Alstion, the Lord of Alba
  2. Charles Alstion sat in his chamber, the boy picked up the quill as he started to write a letter to the Salvian Envoy so that he could deal with the problem at hand "Dear Ser, I hope this letter finds you in good health..." The Prince said to himself before writing it on the parchment. @LithiumSedai
  3. Charles Alstion smiled "This is just the beginning, Ser Stefano." The Prince said to the Bailiff
  4. Charles Alstion sat on his horse, watching the Reinmaren carts leave the Heartlands after he and Ser Stefano helped with escroting them to the border of the region, a gentle smile curled up at his face "May the western frontier bring you glory, good Barclays. Gott schütze Sie." The Lord of Alba offered them a final dip of his head before heading back within the Aaunic border. @Sebbysc
  5. The young Prince of Alstion, Charles Reman, sat in his chamber thinking about what such a change meant for the canonist society. The boy had no clue what to think, he still had so much to learn...
  6. On the day of the Grand Prix, Charles Alstion, patted his steed while he was taking care of it within the Whitespire stables "Today we will show them. You, me, Josey and Johnnie - together." The Prince muttered to the animal before going to pick the best saddle
  7. This is such a certified Lechian Culture moment
  8. With his hands clasped behind his back, somewhere in the Seven Skies, stood Heinrich II Lothar. The palm of the late Lord Vandalore rose to his temple as he gave the retired Elector a militant salute "Here your duty ends, Freund. One day we will all meet again, in here." The Alstreim said before stepping forth to greet his friend properly
  9. Charles Alstion knelt down before the portrait of Edmund II "And yet you prevailed in death" was all the princeling uttered in a quiet whisper before offering the same portrait a dip of his head with a faint smile on his face - it was a bitter victory, but a victory nonetheless.
  10. "Wha wadna fecht for Charlie? Wha wadna draw the sword? Wha wadna up an' rally, at the royal Prince's word? Now the Prince has raised his banner Now triumphant is our cause Now the Alstion dragon rallies Let us strike for Prince and Laws!" The Lord of Alba, Charles Alstion, sang the song dedicated to his great-grandfather with pride as the fight was not yet over

  12. Charles Alstion smiled at the signed peace before his eyes shifted to the sunny sky above "And yet you prevailed in death" The Lord of Alba said in a whisper as he thought of those who fell a decade ago in Whitespire, defending peace. They have been avenged. Finally, the boy could look to the future with peace of mind. Meanwhile in the Seven Skies the Prince of Merryweather, Heinrich II Lothar, smiled at his royal nephew, Edmund II. They have both been slayed at the beginning of this conflict "They thought that they can be kings, how wrong they have been my boy..." He said as he patted the boy's shoulder with a slow shake of his head @Caranthir_
  13. Charles simply vibes...
  14. Charles, the young Crown Prince of Aaun, stood on the balcony, tapping his fingers on the marble balustrade. The Alstion closed his eyes as the fresh air blew straight into his face. Charlie had been born in a time of war - he didn't know what peace was, he didn't know what security was. Nevertheless, the boy remained hopeful that the conflict would soon abate and those who slaughtered Edmund and Heinrich will be vanquished "This is what my royal father wants. Soon it will be over, with or without the summit's success..." He muttered, thinking of all those who gave their lives for the cause
  15. "Didn't they try to do the same last time? Hide behind the peace between the Canonist Princes?" The spirit of Heinrich II Lothar pondered in the Seven Skies as he remembered the previous war with Adria very well
  16. "My Royal Father will have his peace. Whether the Dumacrats like it or not." The Lord of Alba, Charles Alstion, proclaimed while standing on the slope of Langkette, glancing at the Royal City of Whitespire in the distance
  17. THE FIRST HUNT HOSTED BY THE LORD OF ALBA, HRH CHARLES ALSTION UNITY AND PEACE UPON THE LOWLANDS, UNITED AT LAST, I address you for the first time in my life, in an official document as the Crown Prince of Aaun, Lord of Alba. I was born shortly after our victory at Breakwater, where the forces of the Grand Covenant bravely defeated the forces of my excommunicated uncle, Gaspard van Aert and his orcish allies. Truly I pray every day for his repentance and that the Lord has mercy on his soul. As this bloody war takes its toll our lives have to go on. Therefore, to make this turbulent time more pleasant and merry, I am organising a duck hunt. It shall take place on the Floodplain. Despite their swampy nature, they are full of life and exquisitely beautiful. For as long as I can remember I have admired them from a balcony while observing through my spyglass. Volumes could be written about their beauty, but that is not the subject of this announcement. The target of the hunt will be local birds: ducks, wild geese, turkeys. It will be a good archery test for those who will participate. Furthermore I encourage those to bring appropriate clothing that will not hinder their movements as well as a bow or crossbow of their choice. Every citizen is invited, but I am also sending personal invitations to friends from Aaun as well as from beyond the borders of our rebuilt Kingdom. PERSONAL INVITATIONS: HIS SERENE HIGHNESS, Leon Anton Barclay, Grand Prince of Minitz HIS HIGHNESS, Johannes Lothar von Alstreim, Prince of Merryweather and the Rhine HIS LORDSHIP, Siegmund von Reuss, Margrave of Velen HIS LORDSHIP, Waclaw Jazlowiecki, Count of Warsovia HIS LORDSHIP, Emilio Varoche, Baron of Napoliza HIS LORDSHIP, Fernand de Lewes, Baron of Virdain HIS LORDSHIP, Robert Haverlock, Baron of Gotfridcher HIS LORDSHIP, Krzysztof Jazlowiecki, Baron of Krakovia HIS LORDSHIP, Leufroy Otto von Reuss HIS LORDSHIP, Leonard Franz d’Abbassia HER LADYSHIP, Alicja Julia Jazlowiecki HER LADYSHIP, Jadwiga Maria Jazlowiecki HER LADYSHIP, Konstancja Illena von Reuss HER LADYSHIP, Siegmunda Agnes von Reuss HER LADYSHIP, Guinevere Milena von Reuss HER LADYSHIP, Cosima Victoria Temesch HER LADYSHIP, Claudia Lorena Temesch TANDEM TRIUMPHANS, His Royal Highness, CHARLES REMAN ALSTION, the Lord of Alba
  18. "Come out Stassies! Are you afraid of a walking Prince? Do I need to be crippled for you to come out and play?" The Lord of Alba, Charles Alstion, could be heard asking while running through the ruins located at the liberated Marchlands
  19. Charles Alstion just finished hanging the Alstion banners at the office of Governor-General as the news reached him "Divided at last. We reclaimed what was rightfully ours." The boy said to himself, proud of Aaun's achievements
  20. Charles prepares his spyglass to properly look for the beast.
  21. Heinrich II Lothar shook his head as Leutwin entered the Seven Skies "You had one task boy. To not die." The Prince, despite his harsh statement, smiled and welcomed his fellow Waldenian to the land of eternal life
  22. Charlie smiled at the new marching orders "Another march, another triumph ahead." He said to his tutor, Father Yann, the Governor-General of the Marchlands.
  23. Charles Alstion visited the battlefield the next day. He rode up closer on his horse and wondered how did the battle look like from up close. As the raindrops fell on his face the boy spoke to Ser Stefano who went there with him "I shall congratulate my tutor, the Governor-General, personally on his new appointment." The Prince concluded with a firm nod.
  24. THE FATE OF THE MARCHLANDS Penned at the request of His Royal Majesty, John, the King of Aaun, in the year of our Lord, 1959 PREAMBLE Peace and prosperity unto the Lowlands, united at last. After seven years of struggle, following the death of His Majesty Edmund II, our cause of liberating the Marchlands has come to fruition at last - our most western province with the help of the Great Covenant of Nations has been seized from the hands of the rebels led by Richard of Stassion, the Prince of Nothing. They have been butchering our people ever since they departed from our Kingdom and insisted that our citizens were the ones to first break the peace established by Edmund’s successor, our merciful King John. We have seen past their treason. Richard Stassion had made a holy vow upon the relics of the Saint Alexander of Furnestock not to take up arms against the Holy Mother Church and the Crown of Aaun in an armed conflict. He shamelessly broke this vow within days of his merciful expulsion. The men of Stassion, armed, resumed raiding that remained under Crown authority, harrying the peaceful subjects of the King. They saw no shame in breaking their holy vow, believing they could escape God’s justice and the Crown’s rightful retribution. With the blessing of His Holiness, Sixtus VI, our Realm assumed a resolute stance and took up arms against the rebels that dwelled in our western province for nearly a decade. Together with our stalwart allies of the Covenant of Nations, we extinguished their resolve in the lands they called their home. Our cause was righteous and just. Our Realm and her peaceful peoples never sought to be embroiled in conflict, yet it was forced upon them: we did not fire the first shot, but we fired the last. Now, on this 12th of Tobias’s Bounty, 1959, we stand triumphant. THE FATE OF THE MARCHLANDS Following the liberation of the Stassionite land, the reformed Crown of Aaun will endeavour to remove any structures erected on the territory of the Western Marches that may remind the people of Aaun of the House of Stassion and their crimes committed against them. It is declared what follows: I His Majesty, the King of Aaun, demands that the only building to be spared within Fredericksburg is the local church. II His Majesty appoints a governor to keep watch over the Western Marches, namely Father Yann. It is among his duties to rid the western borderlands of the Kingdom of Stassionite infrastructure and return this region to nature by planting trees and sowing new fields. Approved by His Majesty, John I, at the Royal City of Whitespire on the 12th of Tobias’ Bounty, 1959
  25. Charlie Alstion stood on a hill, glancing at the fight from a distance - his head was full of dreams of becoming a knight one day. Despite the fact that he was not able to fight, due to his age, the Prince stood proudly with his bagpipes at hand and played for those who went to Stassion to avenge Edmund II and other Martyrs who fell in the attempted coup of 1952.
