  3. Often is there an occasion worth celebrating in the Dwarven homelands, be it victory in war, the legacy of a paragon, or other such occasions. Love is truly a rare thing among Urguan’s folk, who are slow to trust, and even slower to befriend, marriages do not come often, yet when they do, it is truly a cause worth celebrating. Even rarer still when the one getting married is the Grand King of Urguan, the last such engagement being half a century ago. After a lengthy courtship, the relationship between the Grand King of Urguan and clan father of Clan Starbreaker, Jorvin Starbreaker, and Grand Merchant, Iron Baron, and former clan mother of Clan Grandaxe, Dhaen Grandaxe, has finally been formalized. It has been decided upon then, that great festivities are to be organized to take place within the halls of Kal’Darakaan, in celebration of the union between the pair. Such festivities (including but not limited to, feasting, games, and of course the ceremony itself) are not to be reserved exclusively for the otherwise insular Dwarven folk. Instead let it be known then that all within the realm are invited to take part, with special invitations being extended to our friends - the ruling families of the Kingdoms of Norland and Haense, and to all of their subjects. At the start, the celebrations will begin with games held in the Colosseum of Kal’Darakaan at four past midday before moving onto the sermon and marriage ceremony within the Temple. Finally, we’ll end with a feast held within the throne hall, where gifts are to be given to the royal couple. Once the mingling has finished, and the couple retires, the festivities will officially be concluded. Let it be known then, that for the period of the ceremony, all will be welcome within Urguan’s halls, provided guests follow Urguan’s laws and carry themselves courteously (the same, naturally being expected of Urguan’s very own citizens). We hope to see you there. (Remember, gift giving is a Dwarven tradition.) OOC: Dec 19th, 4pm EST. Be there or it goes in the book.

  9. Grand King Jorvin Starbreaker reads from within the royal apartment of Kal’Evraal, tired eyes flicking across the document in the dim firelight which illuminated the chamber. As he read, he recalled each story told to him by his mentors and friends in the halls of Kal’Azgaryum. How long ago that was...Jorvin felt the passage of time weigh down upon him like a brick. He was a boy when Ulrah fell, a boy traumatized by the sights, sounds, and smells of war. Those dwellers of of the southern peaks had no reason to welcome his kin. His father, his uncles, and his siblings had been on the wrong side of history. And yet they did. He remembered the marching and drills under Utak and Dain, marshalling a disciplined throng from a host of outcasts, cripples, and refugees. So few they were, yet nevertheless ready for the day the Empire, the Urks, or any other foe came to their door. Jorvin memorized those drills, he practiced them every day until he could preform them in his sleep. Twice a day, every day for years, Twenty? Thirty? He didn’t remember now. He patrolled the hinterlands and valleys surrounding Azgaraz until he grew as familiar with them as he had his childhood home. While his father still mourned the loss of the Crownhold and Jorvin’s mother, it was Gimli Metalfist who first taught the young Starbreaker how to forge, and how to defend himself if need-be. During those dark years, Gimli was like an older brother to him, a mentor for a troubled youth, who himself was not all too old. It was a friendship that would last. Jorvin and Gimli’s expeditions into the Yatl Wastes saw to that. In that dark, cold place where no light did shone. He remembered the hospitality of Bjor, who he shared drinks with every day during his morning patrol. Funny to think now the silly Dwarf with a talent for mead was a religious icon, and cultic figure for the forest-folk. He recalled the medal given to him by Utak after his seventh training. It was nothing major, a simple reward for diligent behavior, but Jorvin cherished it. To him it was a sign he was no longer the scared boy bleeding to near-death in the streets of Ulrah, but a man ready and trained to defend his home and his kin, however few they were. That tiny hold on the edge of the wastelands carried their race through one of the darkest chapters in their history. Never again would their race fall. That was what those who dwelled within the hold of outcasts and refugees said to him. Those words were what Jorvin held close to his heart. When they battled through arctic winds and Vaeyl hordes to reach refuge. When he commanded the Dwarven forces against the voidal scourge that threatened Arcas thirty years ago...And now, as he commanded the Throng of Urguan against the Neverborn, the Host of the Damned, the Inferi. Never again. The Grand King ceased his internal musings for a moment, and his eyes drifted. He looked to his bed, the riches piled beside it worth a dozen human kingdoms, wealth unimaginable during those days. He looked to the sleeping form beside him, and recalled how he never expected to live long enough to see such things as...Love, not when the Long War was in need of winning. Finally, his gaze drifted to the wall, where a faded, torn and bloodstained Azgaryumos banner hung beside that of the Grand Kingdom, the Kingdom they built. He might have been no veteran of the Confederation, he might not have known all the struggles, but he shared many, and Gods know by now he was the veteran of dozens of battles himself. All to uphold his oath sworn under the peak of Azgaraz, his oath to protect the Dwarvish folk. PUBLIC WRIT OF ENDORSEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE GRAND KING Being the son of the High Remembrancer, it is rare I find a historical piece that intrigues me, for much of it I already know and have studied. This is likewise the case here, however while I know its contents well from stories told round the hearth and Legion campfire, I can say with certain this is the first document in many years which has truly moved me. The history of our folk during the Atlesian Period is one wrought with tragedy. It is a story of kinstrife and sacrifice, but most of all, how the determination and stubbornness of a rare few can alter the course of history. No longer do we live on borrowed time, in fear of a mighty Empire. No longer do we suffer barely the means to sustain ourselves. Not only has Grand Urguan been reforged, it has been forged stronger from said hardship. All my adult life, I have bled in service to the idea that is Grand Urguan, and I can say without a shred of doubt that without those dauntless few of the Confederation, we would not be the Superpower we are now. To those few who remain who carried our people through the final years of the Kinstrife, to those without whom our people would remain under the boot of tyrants and foreigners, I say this. Narvak oz Agnarum Yarred Den-Agnar’azgaraz thamar ihonlor threin Na oz narvak-nar-tazarak thamar velak Thoth ok kraviil'ur'khrum Yoth Urguan ᚾᚨᚱᚡᚨᚴᛟᛉᚨᚷᚾᚨᚱᚢᛗ ᚤᚨᚱᚱᛖᛞᛞᛖᚾᚨᚷᚾᚨᚱᚨᛉᚷᚨᚱᚨᛉᛏᚺᚨᛗᚨᚱᛁᚺᛟᚾᛚᛟᚱᛏᚺᚱᛖᛁᚾ ᚾᚨᛟᛉᚾᚨᚱᚡᚨᚴᚾᚨᚱᛏᚨᛉᚨᚱᚨᚴᛏᚺᚨᛗᚨᚱᚡᛖᛚᚨᚴ ᛏᚺᛟᛏᚺᛟᚴᚴᚱᚨᚡᛁᛁᛚᚢᚱᚴᚺᚱᚢᛗ ᚤᛟᛏᚺᚢᚱᚷᚢᚨᚾ

  12. I appreciate your creativity but please do not touch Dwarven lore.
  13. Dope so when can we expect the human subraces to be dropped. Literally the same race, just a couple different flavors of European and then an ‘other’ category. Man I didn’t even like Snelves but this ain’t it.
  14. [MUSIC] Within the bowels of Kal’Evraal, Jorvin Starbreaker, Grand King of Urguan and most vengeful of Gotrek’s sons is hard at work. His sweat-soaked and scorched shirt sat long since discarded upon the floor behind him, and unfathomable heat of Urguan’s geothermal forge caused even his durable skin to blister. It was in this chamber beneath the Dwarven hold, that the Hammer of Paragon Gotrek, sung in the deep, its steel-song joined by the bubbling of magma, and creaking of the earth. Sparks flew with every strike upon the Dwarven anvil, beating molten steel into submission, shaping it little by little. There was the occasional wince of pain as sparks touched the Dwarf’s bare skin, but it did too little to disrupt him from his work. The toil came naturally to him, far more than the bureaucracy of kingship, and so he continued, only ever stopping to sip from his waterskin. Before long, a weapon of war was shaped, and another came after it, and many after that. Jorvin prepared for war, it was something he was intimately familiar with, there was comfort in that. Elsewhere in southern Arcas, a lone rider travels down the King’s Road that ran along the White Mountains, before turning eastward along the coast towards Almenor. He stood aside from the hosts of warriors that marched towards Caras Sylvadrim, riding apart from the crowd. The isles were not the quiet place he remembered, though that was natural as they were preparing for war. As he reached the outskirts, the rider felt an odd feeling overcome him. It had been many years since he’d entered these woods that were meant to be his home, it was a feeling of unfamiliarity and not wholly being welcomed. He shook his head subtly beneath his helm, it mattered very little now. He adjusted his panoply of war, the crimson cloak strung atop his armor, the bow over his shoulder, and the arming sword that hung from an ornate scabbard at his side, his leaf-like heater shield hung from the saddle of his armored stead, a white Destrier. Finwë Sylvaeri, Firstborn of Sea Prince Fëanor Sylvaeri of Elvenesse, long since vanished son, paused in thought before the treeline. He hesitated, not out of fear of what was to come, but more of wondering what to say once his presence was revealed. He decided it best not to dwell on such, as for now, his father needed warriors, not a quarrelsome son. If his years away had taught him anything, it was that he could at the least put his confidence in his steel. Finwë lowered the visor of his helm, and urged his war-horse forward as the citadel of his line arose in the distance...
  15. The Reply of the Dwarves of Urguan to Sultan Ma’ga’nus C’arne [!] Delivered to Korvassa by the returned messengers, the letter reads the following O Neverborn Sultan, Southron devil and lickspittle to Khorvad himself, you are not of this realm, so I will do you a courtesy far more than you deserve, and explain to you a very simple thing. You are not the first tyrant to claim dominion over all the free peoples, nor are you the first Neverborn foreign-thing. Your disillusion of grandeur is only outweighed by your foolishness. You are utterly undeserving of those titles which you claim, pigs **** and your army eats. You shall not, you son of a *****, make subjects of free descendants. Be they sons of Malin, sons of Urguan, sons of Krug, or sons of Horen. To you, Goat-fucker of Al-Faiz, Sodomite of Korvassa, Thief of Relics, and an Idiot before all the World and Underworld, I declare this. For nearly a century my folk have settled in these southlands, we broke bread with Almenor, and we have had our squabbles, but we shall not permit your assault upon them, you lowlife. **** your mother, or whatever horse’s arse you crept from. I challenge you this, cur of Korvassa and unrightful sultan, that only a coward and a limp man would declare himself mighty when besieging a house of Malin’s children. Be there there any spine within you, do battle with us, for I offer it joyfully. We shall battle you on the land, and we shall battle you on the sea, and by the time we have finished, the hammer will sit with it’s rightful owner, and you won’t even be fit for shoveling ****. And so, as writing this letter to return to you has already taken too much of my time, I will conclude. You have cowered in your sand-filled ruins long enough, do battle with me and my own instead, you hollow-skulled oaf. It will be more than welcome. Signed OOC: LOTC fix your censors or get rid of ‘em
