It is my dearest hope that I shall establish a precedent for those who may hold the Mayoral Office in the future so that they might write informative columns of their own in our national paper. It is crucial, for the sake of transparency and accessibility, that we governing officials partake in the process of engaging with our people through both vocal and written conversation. To title ourselves a commonwealth demands that we strive towards a common good in the interests of our fellow man, which in turn demands insightful avenues for information and thus education. It has now been two years since I was elected to the position of Mayor of Valfleur, and I must lament that the approaching festive season has slowed the implementation of my promised initiatives. We have yet to lay down the foundations for our library, and recent infrastructural decisions have unfortunately been directed to projects outside of Valfleur’s jurisdiction. But nonetheless, I would not be gravely disheartened by the delay, for it shall not stand. I fully intend to see through the completion of a library before my term is out and to further stimulate our local economy so that we might once again see life in our city streets. I would also like to inform the public of the appointment of Aldotte Rarr to the city council, in which he shall hold the position of Deputy-Mayor. In a short amount of time, this man has proven himself to be a hardworking and determined soul, and I should expect him to perform diligently in serving the people of our city, both in civil matters and militarily. PETRA POPPING The Daily News Petra Post New Horizons: Newcomer’s Journal Moving can be an often stressful and trying time indeed. I expected no different from my arrival to the Town of Petra, in fact I anticipated it to be more stressful than most times before. Having been an individual who often “moves’ from one town to the next in search of exploration, and adventure. I was certain my arrival at Petra would be met with wary eyes, and chaotic treatment. However, I was wrong, upon arrival the first thing I noticed were delightful cheeriness of the town officers, a merry band of militant brothers called the Sons Of Petra, they were quite welcoming, and in fact insisted on helping us getting settled in. One guard in particular, by the name of Aldotte, gave me several provisions in an attempt to solidify my comfortability in Petra. When I searched for housing and could find nothing but difficulty, the wonderful Lord Sebastian took me in offering me roon and board in exchange for household services. After a few days of being settled in I found my way merrily around the town, meeting many a new people. One thing does concern me however, I happened to find myself in the town square one evening where I came upon Aldotte, and two other strangers, one whom was the Mayor and the other who seemed to be a witch of some sorts, upon greeting them I received a mutual response from all except the Mayor whom turned to me and regarded me with nothing but a nod. Imagine my offense at the action, and when I insisted that he’d been rude, I was ordered to be tossed into the river. I’m not one to hold grudges, perhaps the Mayor simply was having troubles at home that put him in a bad mood? Nevertheless, I’ve found my stay quite pleasant and I look forward to uncovering more of the beauties of Petra. Petra Post VOL.,i...NO.II VINTAGE PRICE: FREE Current Events Princess Dame Persephone of Balian and her husband, Gwendel Vilac, recently have been the talk of the town. With the Archduchess calling them to trial, it was known that the Princess did not like the outcome. The couple eventually, from the looks of it, left Petra… most likely for some time to recover from the event. RECAP: Princess Persephone was said to have reported a boy for breaking into her home many, many times. The Archduchess called a trial to occur which resulted in her removing the boy’s squireship from Ser Lucien, but it may be replaced. The Princess, unhappy with this decision, argued for a while with our Archduchess. Many citizens were not so keen on this so the Princess and her husband fled to their home without being dismissed. Citizens of Petra attempted to get inside and throw rocks at windows, but the Sons of Petra quickly stopped them by forming a human barrier outside the home. I was told, dear readers, that the Archduchess and the Princess had a discussion, but who knows what about. We shall hope the family matters return to peace. Becoming One in Petra Evangeline with the troops. circa. 12th of Snow’s Maiden of 1896 My dear readers, I, the war reporter of the Sons of Petra and publisher of the Writer’s League, would like to show you what the Sons of Petra do on a daily basis. Armies of the Alarmis prepare plenty for battles, wars, and for simple patrols. I, for one, was excited to see up close what an army did during their down-times. The Sons of Petra have hosted many patrols, training, and guarded courts with a largely vast amount of numbers. Last month, I was able to meet Laurens Henri of Halcourt. He held a patrol, to which I was able to converse afterwards. He helps the Sons of Petra with their supply of horses WHICH he also gave a beautiful gift to me. His name is Chad. He is one of the many men and women I have met from the Sons of Petra who have been ever so kind. On this exciting day, Commander Lambert held a training for unity and structure. Each man had to squat perfectly while using precise pronunciations when going up the number line. Each man shouting together.. “ONE.” “TWO.” “Thre-” Restart! LOUD AND CORRECT! These men do NOT play around when training. A picture was taken on the top of this missive of the occurrence. This lesson taught the men about discipline, while also going over teamwork. If one were to mess up, they were told to restart. An army has to be perfect together, an army does not consist of random heroes. . . If one were to step out of line in a battle, it could be the death of them. CONTINUING on with their EXTENSIVE training. . . Rhun, a man of Petra, was awaiting the troops with honey jars in his hands. “A man can be strong in two different senses. . . In his body, and in his mind.” He painted each of their faces with Commander Lambert watching. Rhun continued. “A man can be strong in his body, but weak in his mind, and vice-versa.” “Due attention must be paid to each. The lives of your countrymen depend on you, soldiers.” Each man spent his dues here. Learning valuable lessons as the times went on. A man can be strong with his physical body, of course. But how well does he do with his mind? What if one of them were taken by an enemy? Tortured? Their minds need to be locked and sealed. “The instructions are simple. Inside this box is a colony of Kadarash Bees, native to the deserts of Krugmar.” INSTANTLY. . . The men went silent. Nerves could be seen from each of them, yet no words were spoken to stop it. “They will burrow into the honey on your face. You will not move. . . They will crawl into your eyes and ears. You will not speak. . . We will discover who among you has the strongest will, who is destined to become a real soldier.” Hours and hours of this painful experience, the men and women did their best to contain themselves. They had trouble with keeping quiet as bees stung and picked at the people. Some blood trickled down their faces with the repeated bee stings. Each man and woman held themselves with dignity, even the pain did not break their character. Comments were given to some individuals for their perseverance, such as Vranick! They all finally were able to escape… Well, get OUT of the sand. Was training done yet? NOPE! One more time with precision and discipline to finish the night. Well, your trusty new writer has gotten the case! Evangeline ran throughout Petra, attempting to figure out where the SCREAMS were. “HELP! HELP! I’M LOCKED IN THIS CELL-” “ANYONE?” “HELP!” RUNNING through Petra, the brave journalist found out where the screams were. . . OUR VERY OWN BASE OF THE SONS OF PETRA! After knocking and knocking, the door of the base opened. Standing in front of her was one of the men in the army, yet she did not know who it was at the time. . . Quickly, Evangeline ran past him and went straight to the cells! There they were, Mayrin Evergreen, Dominic Wolfgang Colborn, Livia Elena, Allister, and Commander Lambert. The writer soon began her questioning as the scene did NOT look right. “What is happening? Why are we dying her hair? Does the ArchDuke know?” Commander Lambert was quick with his response, “This very hair hurt our ArchDuke’s eyes by the very sight of it!” SCREAMS! More screams echoed from the holding cell. Evangeline was conflicted with emotions, yet whatever the ArchDuke says goes. GO PETRA! Livia Elena even commented “I think it is important to fight the odd things in nature. And the ArchDuke agreed, who am I to disagree?” What a strong comment from a Son of Petra! AND what a representation for the young ladies out there. What a role-model. The writer assumes the ArchDuke and ArchDuchess would adore this. The battle of dying hair continues! Mayrin fights back! Allister and Dominic Wolfgang Colborn seemed to struggle as they attempted to hold down Mayrin. Shocking to see two trained men not handle a single woman, perhaps more training should be held… BUT! Mayrin escapes from their grips, heading straight for the exit. Before she makes her way up the stairs… THE WRITER HERSELF, EVANGELINE, GOT TRAMPLED. A BRUISE IS LEFT ON HER CHEEK FROM THE AFTERMATH! Pain and panic were the only emotions that the girl felt. Her papers even were spiraled everywhere- what a mess. AND YET THE SONS OF PETRA BECAME HEROS TODAY TO THIS YOUNG WRITER! Kind words and warmth were quickly given to the girl, comforting her. Commander Lambert and Livia quickly made sure she was okay while the other men captured Mayrin once again. While tears were stopping and her papers gathered, Mayrin’s hair was dyed. She was now a BLONDE! The writer was a bit concerned for the Miss Pink Lady, but. . . being trampled on was NOT fun. The Sons of Petra continued with their civic duties of helping their community. The Sons of Petra even gave a medal of honor to Evangeline, as well as an honorable title of “The daughter of the Sons” SIGNED, Evangeline de Rosius-Malenos
