I never said that this would be replacing 4.0, I said that this would be a test, that could be performed on a separate temporary server.

Also, HOW COULD YOU DESECRATE THE NAME OF AEGIS?!

If you want to host a server, Install the plugins and moderate it, have at it. LoTC Staff is already stretched thin, we are not going to be adding a temp server just to derp around in, Sorry. It would be such a mess, what rules do you use? Where do you keep the separate lore and player reports? How do we track whitelisting... will players apply to get on to both servers? Just one? Will there be a different whitelist app? ect. ect. ect.

Questions like this just stack up, I think its great on paper... but would take A LOT of work to execute.

You don't understand me. I said it'd kill the server because every new player will want to play on the latest version, and so will lots of the current players. 1.6.4 was the latest version back in Aegis and it did suit the server well(the reason we stopped saying "Hail!" and other road RP was because you can just sprint past people before they can type now) but it just won't work anymore since hardly anyone will want to play on an old version.

There's something you forget. Back in Aegis, we started in a very early Beta version of Minecraft, and eventually the 1.7.3 Beta update came out, that introduced sprinting, hunger, and other large changes. However, even though players had the ability to sprint past people on the road instead of saying "Hail," and talking for a bit, they continued on with the exact same process. So maybe you could identify exactly where this tradition died off, or maybe I could just make a statement on how it is similar to the real world.

Nowadays, people want to get things done fast and not waste time. They prefer to just zoom by and get things done so they can relax. The same process has affected the server, in that people forget that this is a place to relax, and take your time doing things, but it seems to just be Human nature.

And seeing how this whole thing would be done on a small separate server, I don't see how it would kill the main server, which isn't even fully updated :P.

Finally, this poll will show us how many players actually would want to play on an old Beta server with a naturally generated world.

If you feel like paying for the temp server , go at it.

I could sort all this out in a single day, the only thing I don't have is a small temporary server.

Well we are hosting the 4.0 map on our dev server... and we are not taking that down for this nor would we take the main server down. I'm sure Tythus could host another server but there is already enough lag as is. Like I said, this will take time, money and other resources that LoTC can't spare right now.

No. The sprinting, hunger and all of that was introduced in 1.8 over halfway through Aegis. The "Hail," thing died soon after.

Why... the heck.. would we go back to a Beta Stage in minecraft? No one will join, no one will want to downgrade, and other then that "Oh I remember this!" feeling you're looking to get nothing of use will come out of it.

Kinda sounds like a waste of time in my opinion. :/

EDIT: Unless it's just a temp map, I'd be fine with MC generated but it should be 1.7.2 or whatever it will be by then, I want my decorative flowers!

If we have another temp map like Elysium to transition between Anthos and 4.0, I wouldn't mind it being generated in minecraft, but make it in the newest version. There's lots of fancy new stuff that I want to play around with.

I don't know if I quite like that idea, it seems interesting enough but I would like to have stuff implemented from the pretty new update now rather than later.

I think we all know and love beta but it's just too much of a hassle for *new players* who are also *noobs used to full minecraft*. So they'd be looking around for horses while all of us are having a good time

Absolutely, I believe older Minecraft was more dangerous, that's why I always place hardcore Singleplayer servers now. But this may stretch the playerbase out more that it is.

Aegis was great for its' time period. Mojang has since improved Minecraft and the terrain generation above and beyond the scrappy look we had before, no offence.

4.0 has default MC generation AND world painted map. It's the best of both worlds I think. We won't be going back to older generators and scrapping together maps either for the sole purpose of testing out if a version of Minecraft generation that is now obsolete might be liked by players better.  :idk:
