I think there should definitely be an open beta type of deal where a server is opened and everybody is able to test it. That was a flaw with the PvP plugin. Nobody that really PvPed tested it, it was all exclusive and hush hush, and when it came out nobody really liked it except for the people that rarely used it. This allows for it to be tested by stress and actual playability. I have concerns that this is just too complicated now and makes the game feel a lot different. So before implementing it, we should definitely have a large scale beta.

ie. mc.nexusbeta.net or something

So I'm going to do a bigger post now on the problems I see with this. Remember I'm a Beta tester, so I have experienced this plugin first hand without even knowing what it did and how it worked.

First use:

Players will have no idea what is happening. They will gather some wood to make a crafting table and then what? Why did a new Gui open? Where did the logs I placed in it go? Why are they back to my inventory? Alright I'll try and click what I want. Why can't I create a Crafting table? Maybe I need to make planks first. Why can't I make a crafting table? What is this, ingredients? Why do I need cobble for a crafting table? Fine, I'll make a wooden pickaxe and go mine. Why can't I do a pickaxe? Hell I needed to make a bloody stick first! Alright I have a pickaxe, now to find a place to mine. Alright I have enough cobble for a crafting table, now I just click here and... what's this? Why did two crafting tables and an iron axe appear? Why did it disapear? Hell let me try it again. Why did another crafting table appear? And TNT? What? God damn it where is my crafting table! 20 seconds remaining? What the hell? GAH! Finally! Alright so I found some seeds and made a farm, I really need some food now, the bread I have is over now, and I have some wheat lets place down this crafting table and... where is the freecking bread? What the hell, how do I make bread? A cooking pot? Fine.. what? I need 3 iron? Where the hell am I going to find iron now? Somehow I got enough iron before dying from mobs and hunger, now I place is down and can finally cook bread- what? I need a fire and a bucket with water? More iron Gah! I can't even make leather armor to protect from mobs or get food, Screw this! -logs out-

Little people online:

Everyone: Where the hell am I going to get the stuff I need to do my profession if there are 30 players online and all most of them are rp'ing?

War:

Alright people, just build massive amount of stuff, so that in 10 mins we get over 10 iron armors if we need to. Food? A 100 cauldrons. 100 crafting tables, and 100 everything else. If I take 10 mins to do one iron sword, I only need 10 anvils to make 10 iron swords in 10 mins. Yup, no problems whatsoever, I'll just have the legendary blacksmith use the 100 anvils and make the best damn armor on the server in just a few minutes for everyone of my fighters, I even use less iron than before.

Building:

So I'm building something. I need tools, lots of them, then I need materials and ways to make them. **** I need a mason... **** I need an anvil... **** I need the thing for dyes... Damn it this is taking so freaking long to make this materials. God damn it I need tools and they take 30 seconds everytime I need a new one, I'll just make 50 and place them in a chest. Oh come on, I need a diamond pick to destroy these obsidian...

RP'ing professions:

"So what can I do for you?" "I need an iron sword and full armor" "Alright anything specific?" "Just a sword and full." "I'll start working right away." "Don't you have one made already?" "I'm afraid not." ((Long long will it take)) ((About 5 mins)) ((I'll come back in a bit then or go afk.)) |Blacksmith now finds himself rp'ing on his own|

((Anyone have any food? I don't even have a house and expecially not a Cooking pot))

|Player makes a lot of stuff in one go, then goes rp. When he comes back he places it in auto-shop or does the rp he would before this plugin.|

Pretty much while I do like the idea of professions, I do not like it for everything, expecially when you can't even make bread without having your hands on iron first. Once again I suggest the same plugin but only to improve the items that would be created from normal MC. Be it by using less materials, getting things that are very hard to gather (like netherrack and glowstone and etc), or with new items (like the many many foods), or simply for them to become better (like enchants in armor or weapons and tools.)

I also forgot to mention Jistuma, the more you are crafting at a time, the longer every individual bench will take to craft! I missed that point hehe

(not by too long else that would mitigate the point of crafting at multiple stations)

Looks pretty cool, but new players are going to have a nightmare... I'm also a bit confused... there's a timer to craft things, but in your video you can craft an entire set of tools in a few seconds. I first thought you were going for a more realistic approach to crafting, but, apparently not. Why have the timer at all, and why not for everything?

This too.

I would not be surprised if longer expiry dates are gained by being a cook.

Yep, this is a feature. :D

Why must these things be added to change the game from minecraft to something so much harder? I don't understand. Please explain why this is needed?

Please read prior posts! Some people have brought very unique viewpoints to this, I suggest you read those. :)

But can you sell this plugin to me? To all of us? Really, why is it needed? Why do you think the Lord of the Craft needs this plugin to make it better? I honestly don't see why. Also, no response to my other idea?

Looks fantastic,

What are your plans for books with this plugin. Specifically creating them. "The Ink Problem"...... and coping/storage.

It would be great if books fell into a category like food, The higher quality the book the longer it would last. This would insure that books were valuable for their contents, and the craftsmanship.

Perhaps create a vault, something that can be sealed and breaks once opened again, to store such items for preservation....but like I said its an expensive one time 'chest' for semi-permanent storage.

There's already a dev server up and running, we're just having a few issues atm with it.

I sold the plugin via. the video, probably not everything but, did I not describe how it would tie in with professions? How it would fix a lot of problems dev's like myself have been having making professions worthwhile and having an economy that actually works?

I enjoy coding, and I really want to do that more than sit around and provide lists and bullets and etc. of arguments for, I can do that if you like and elaborate, but just know it's a bit annoying.

Ok, I'll watch the video one more time. I didn't really pay attention to it the first time.

My only fault with this would be the expire date added to foods. I personally find it hard enough to get food and not die while travelling from town to town, and I'm pretty sure that this will not help. Just my personal opinion on it. Also, say something will last 18 hours, will that be 18 hours of while I am online, or just 18 hours of the server running? Because if it is the latter, food will be going very fast.

Yes I know I posted this in the other thread, I just realised that this is the Your View one ;_;

How will things such as using magic affect all of this?

The expiry dates need to be a lot longer, and either an easier recipe for cauldrons is needed or food has to be easier to get.
