For those who are worried about food during the beginning of the game, you gotta remember that there's still melons, potatoes, and carrots.

I'm sure food won't be a major issue-- as long as the monk farms start providing more harvest-and-then-eat foods (like those listed above). Also, I'm quite certain that somewhere around the spawn point, there'd be a public cauldron sorta hanging around, so that you could make some bread and other necessities to survive (albiet, it'd take a while and won't last very long).

I'm sort of on the fence about the expiration dates though. I mean, it's a good idea and concept but... how long exactly are the expiration dates in the beginning? How long would the food last? If someone were to make some food, log off, and then log in tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, or maybe even a week, how long do they have before the food last before expiring (if it hasn't already)? What if a person needed to take a one week break, or two week break? Would all of their food be gone? Perhaps elongating the expiration dates in the beginning of the game would be a good option, because I feel like it might cause a bit of an issue for newer players.

But overall, this plugin seems awesome! Really excited for it. ^u^

EDIT 2 (don't judge me ;m; I keep taking things back):

REALIZED that things had different expiration dates. WHOOPS. The things that expire in 4 days- a-okay, and I'm also fine with the meat expiration, saying how meat tends to go bad the fastest (and no starting player cooks meat, because that requires looking for an animal and then stabbing it to death, which NO ONE does), but bread has an expiration date of 1-2 days, which I feel like is actually too less time. Is it possible to make the expiration date for bread a bit longer? Bread is sort of the food everyone gets and needs when they start off, and making it last only a day puts a lot of people in an awkward situation, especially if they can only log in every other day, or something.

This plugin looks amazing.

I love how food expires.  This type of realism will keep the in game economy from suffering from over supply just like number of uses keeps tools/weapons in check.  The differentiation of weapon qualities will be very nice and make it easier to rp a peasant with lesser quality armor (thank you!).  Please don't remove the food decay.  Also, please add in different weapon types (even if they are aesthetic and don't actually vary in damage or fight style as suggested in my feedback/survey).

Overall, amazing.  :)

Helly.

I think the ideas very neat, the only problem being updating it every time MC updates.

edit:

After watching the full video, I am extremely impressed. Awesome work, Telanir.

I was pretty skeptical before watching the video. I went in thinking this was going to be another disaster. I'm really excited about this plugin now though! It gives purpose to a supply chain and gives LOTC a shot at a more balanced economy.

Now nations, especially dwarves, have a reason to have blacksmithing guilds to keep the armory stocked and multiple smiths can be utilized at one time to speed up the process of creating armor for new recruits.

I have to say it's going to suck to start out with as (I'm assuming) everyone will start at the same level so someone who has been RPing a master [insert profession here] for months will be the same as someone just starting out, but given a fair leveling system it gives players something to strive towards.

Concern:

Casual RPers who don't have as much time to 'grind' away at the skill system to get better will be somewhat disadvantaged

Suggestion:

I get that this is the crafting pluggin but it's so closely related to the professions that I think this applies:

Please include  an option to turn off 'experience gain' when crafting. If I want to RP a character who is only a mediocre smith it would be nice to reach that point and be able to stay there.

Just as long as the crafting times are not stupidly long or exaggerated, everything should be fine. It's an interesting concept, but must be handled carefully.

Iron- 15-20 mins per item

Everything else is pretty short

Its really good I think. The only thing si the initial start is a bit rough but my group was able to get food going with the monk bread we had.

I will say that this system took a much shorter time to learn with than regular crafting. It took me days to learn regular crafting at least, and even then I was terribly inexperienced (sometimes I still have to look on the Internet for some recipes).

This one took maybe about a half hour. By then I started to remember where each craft was and what was required for it, and things went much faster. As someone else said, it's a lot like the Xbox version of crafting where you don't even have to remember the formations and recipies. You just need the materials, and tada, it makes it for you.

First use:

Players will have no idea what is happening. They will gather some wood to make a crafting table and then what? Why did a new Gui open? Where did the logs I placed in it go? Why are they back to my inventory? Alright I'll try and click what I want. Why can't I create a Crafting table? Maybe I need to make planks first. Why can't I make a crafting table? What is this, ingredients? Why do I need cobble for a crafting table? Fine, I'll make a wooden pickaxe and go mine. Why can't I do a pickaxe? Hell I needed to make a bloody stick first! Alright I have a pickaxe, now to find a place to mine. Alright I have enough cobble for a crafting table, now I just click here and... what's this? Why did two crafting tables and an iron axe appear? Why did it disapear? Hell let me try it again. Why did another crafting table appear? And TNT? What? God damn it where is my crafting table! 20 seconds remaining? What the hell? GAH! Finally! Alright so I found some seeds and made a farm, I really need some food now, the bread I have is over now, and I have some wheat lets place down this crafting table and... where is the freecking bread? What the hell, how do I make bread? A cooking pot? Fine.. what? I need 3 iron? Where the hell am I going to find iron now? Somehow I got enough iron before dying from mobs and hunger, now I place is down and can finally cook bread- what? I need a fire and a bucket with water? More iron Gah! I can't even make leather armor to protect from mobs or get food, Screw this! -logs out-

My main concern.

Have my babies Telanir! I wub u!

But yea. I must echo others with the concerns about new players being extremely confused.

Tweaks to some of the variables, changes to the UI as-well as adding a little tutorial area for the grey & whitelist's will certainly help. There's been 20-30 players whitelisted to a normal minecraft map with the plugin active and they've been using it to survive (and a lot of them really like it!) while also letting us know all the tweaks associated with making it easier to understand, easier to use and all that.

If you're interested in checking it out just PM Telanir or myself here on the forum.

Well, after playing with this plugin on the dev server for over seven or eight hours I think I can safely say that it is a brilliant piece of work and enjoyed it very much. The waiting times were a bit long but if this plugin is introduced with skills and the previously used PvP plugin, it will probably improve. However, as others have been saying, it could be a steep learning curve for new players. I got a bit confused as to what what recipe needed what, such as button now require cobblestone instead of stone, I wasted a bit of coal on that. I think custom recipes using the classic crafting system and the new work stations could also be a viable option, however that would require a rewrite. I'm just hoping this doesn't turn out like the Nexus PvP plugin did on its own.

PS: It's 11:30pm here and I should probably go to sleep (I know, I know, it's early), so excuse any grammar errors.

I think this will bring back all the good old memories I had with LotC. I loved it so much to play as a blacksmith with my orc, and now I can just do it again. Though I might look into other proffesions first.

I think this plugin is brilliant. I honestly think so. This is going to make LotC so much more fun and interactive.

I like that iron armor requires leather armor, but remember that leather is an insufferable piece of hell to farm especially with breeding turned off and cows being sort of rare.

I suggest that a crafting recipe is added for iron armor that is more expensive, but doesn't require the skin of innocent bovids.

As for the rest of it... I'd say it's flashy and fun but unnecessary. It will eventually get old having timed crafting, waiting twelve minutes for a suit of leather armor only to give it to someone else and wait more time for iron armor. I know, profession/skill time reduction nyeh nyeh, but it takes time and I don't have any.

The whole automated crafting thing a la skyrim is pretty nice, but it makes some things in minecraft mildly difficult.
